This is my new jam. Give it a chance and it might be yours too.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for modern "dark" synth-pop bands? I've been getting a kick out of that genre as of late. Thinking along the lines of Depeche Mode, Mesh, Hybrid, Kite... stuff like that. I try to avoid the german stuff because lots of it falls more into the EBM category and the singing is generally awful. De/Vision might be the rare exception.
Have you heard of Drab Majesty? I like some of their stuff, pretty good 80's synthwave-ish kind of band. Try Combichrist if yo're more into some of the more heavy industrial synth stuff.
Oh I like that a lot (Drab Majesty). It reminds me of the band Torul with it's 80s throwback sound. Thanks! Not a big fan of Combichrist, to be entirely honest. I'm extremely picky when it comes to industrial music.

Ok, I gotta say that I've been listening to this Drab Majesty album non-stop since Ramon suggested it. It's an amazing album that would rank somewhere in my all-time top 50. No exaggeration. I'm so thankful for this suggestion!

Drab Majesty is badass and I use it as Nevar's entrance music since WORLD came out.
Here's another good song and group worth a listen

Here's another good song and group worth a listen Ah yes I've listened to some Lebanon after Spotify recommended it on the Soft Kill page. Good stuff. White Severity Index, Second Still and Cold Showers are some other good bands that sound similar to Drab Majesty. I also discovered Trevor Something a few nights ago. He's really good IMO. He kinda has this Miami Vice-meets-Blade Runner-meets-The Weeknd-meets-Black Moth Super Rainbow-- kinda sound, but somehow it all works because of his ear for melodies and song structure. In the first album that I posted he samples a handful of classic songs from the 80s mixed in with some original stuff.

Oh yeah Trevor Something, been listening to Trevor Something for 2 years now, not really sure how I stumbled upon him but, yeah, I've been a listener since. I think Drab Majesty is the more recent favorite that I discovered by someone playing him on plug.dj... in a metal room of all places lol Usually I am into EBM, Industrial synth type stuff like Razed In Black, A23, Velvet Acid Christ and some 80's synth like Depeche Mode <3 and 80's Ministry,. Bowman is also a fan of Trevor Something Anyways it's good we have like minded people around here... Hey, if you like Trevor Something and Drab Majesty check out Mr. Kitty good songs are After Dark and Destroy Me

I just went through 5 straight songs of his and loved them all. Thanks! Can't believe that I've discovered so much great music in so little time :) Are you familiar with Torul, Kite and Lizette Lizette? Those are pretty much the artists that threw me down this Post-Punk Synthwave revival path. For Torul I'd recommend: Saviour of Love / The Balance (sounds like a Futurepop Tears For Fears) For Kite: Dance Again / Up For Life / Demons & Shame (sounds like Peter Gabriel-meets-Jon & Vangelis from Sweden) For Lizette Lizette: Rest / Sober Up / Slow (reminds of a female-fronted Pretty Hate Machine) I'd also recommend Nicole Sabouné -- Song: Unseen Footage from a Forthcoming Funeral is a good place to start.

Glad to share and glad you like them :)

Glad to share and glad you like them :) The 3 other ones actually have a common thread. Nicklas Stenemo fronts Kite, produces on Lizette Lizette and plays guitar for Nicole Sabouné on tour. IMO he's a genius. With Kite his voice might be offputting on first listen because it's very unique, but stick with it. Some of their songs are some of the deepest earworms I've ever heard and his passion when he sings is definitely felt. The Vangelis comparison is perfectly a propos because that type of infectious synth-based melody makes up the backdrop to lots of their songs.

The Melvins with Al Cisneros from Sleep covering Black Sabbath. The output from the guys from Sleep this year is clear demonstration that the gods are good. youtu.be/1XZnG8-fgc8
