Finished Six Feet Under and Velvet Revolver. On to the next band: Sepultura. I got a little over 16 hours to listen to. Sepultura are awesome I'm also going through my CD collection, I only have Max Calverera era Seplutura, superb. Do you have any recommendations regarding albums with Derreck Green? The music they made during that era fitted Max's vocal style. So I'm just wondering if they have changed their style in all these years apart from U2 covers(I cannot stand U2).

Their newest release Machine Messiah isn't a bad album either. Avoid Roorback, it's not terrible (for my tastes) but it's easily the lowest of the Green releases. Try A-Lex or Dante XII if you want a different sound, as they incorporated a lot of classical sounds in both. The Mediator... drops in quality a tad, but it's still a fantastic release. If you want as close to Max as possible, stick to Against or Nation. They're all decently good, but I'd go for Kairos if given the choice to listen to Green. Hope I've been of some help. I can ramble about music all day, one of my biggest loves.

No problem. Got a few artists done today: Temple Of The Dog, Lifer, Revis and The Mayfield Four. Currently listening to Old Wainds.
EDIT: Finished Old Wainds, Audioslave and Dust To Dust. Onto the next band: Testament! Only got 6 of their albums so a little under 4 and a half hours for them.

this album has been in heavy rotation for the past few months, really glad i discovered DZ Deathrays. underoath another one thats been on pretty high rotation, while it pales in compoarassion to their earlier works it's still a solid album whith some good songs on it.
and last but not least Gorilla Biscuits legends of the straight edge scene i listen to these guys at least every month or so.

I found my Social Distortion collection in a box in the closet earlier tonight - Not entirely sure how it ended up there.
I really love this band. They're a good mix of punk, blues, rock-a-billy, and rock n' roll. They've always got something when I'm in the mood for it.
Their cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" is my favorite cover of that particular song.
The fret slide at :04 is just... whew. I love it. It drew me in on the first listen and I've been a fan ever since.
Fun fact: It's also Grace Crawford's (one of my edits) theme.

This is one of those rare weeks when I've barely had time to listen to much of anything.
but, I just fell on this album from Lizette Lizette called Queerbody -- I was intrigued because it's a Nicklas Stenemo production (mastermind behind the excellent band Kite).
Oh man, pleasantly surprised. The album sound like a cross between Violator and Pretty Hate Machine being fronted by Madonna circa Erotica. It's one of these albums that fell drastically under the radar IMO. The song "Rest" could've been an absolutely massive hit single in the late 80s. Nicklas Stenemo has been toying with a sound similar to Jon & Vangelis as of late, so it's cool to see him tackle a Darkwave side-project like this.

My new job duties has lent itself to gobs of music listening. I have a very narrow taste in metal (stoner, sludge, doom, drone) and 2018 has been a banger year. 1. Sleep - The Sciences (also their adult swim single "Leagues Beneath" may be one of my favorite Sleep songs of all time) Holy fuck, Sleep have a new full length album out?! Going to listen to that pronto. I own everything Sleep ever released, fuckin love em.
If you like Sleep, also check out Om...Al Cisneros' other band, which is mostly just drums and bass. Their early stuff is super doomy, but they evolved over their 5 albums into a more sort of eastern/orchestral dreaminess. Cool stuff.
Also check out the Stoned Meadow of Doom channel on YouTube, that guy is constantly posting full albums of relatively unknown but really solid doom/stoner bands.
Currently listening to: Spaceslug, Venus Sleeps, Opium Heathen, King Weed, Electric Mountain, Stone Age Mammoth, etc.
EDIT: God damn, The Sciences is fantastic. I also just found out that Sleep played a show less than an hour from where I live only two weeks ago. Kicking myself.

Yeah dude, Sleep's output is not screwing around. I saw Om a few times, I love their expanded sound. It is staggering that we have had 7 new Sleep tracks since the last Om. I have been dying to listen to the new Spaceslug. I am a proud subscriber to Stoned Meadow of Doom. JJ from The Obelisk is my guru however. He touches on everything. Praise Iommi.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for modern "dark" synth-pop bands? I've been getting a kick out of that genre as of late.
Thinking along the lines of Depeche Mode, Mesh, Hybrid, Kite... stuff like that. I try to avoid the german stuff because lots of it falls more into the EBM category and the singing is generally awful. De/Vision might be the rare exception.

Have you heard of Drab Majesty? I like some of their stuff, pretty good 80's synthwave-ish kind of band. Try Combichrist if yo're more into some of the more heavy industrial synth stuff.
