With one particular saga looking like it's going to end on a whimper I'm ready to move forward on the rest. As it is neither seemed to be trying to convince me otherwise with their response or lack thereof.

Less bitching than observation of odd human tendencies, but I bet if you surveyed any number of people, a healthy majority of them would Indicate that gasoline prices are too high. With that point in mind, I find it odd how people at grocery stores or other retail outlets will spend a great deal of time driving around a parking lot looking for a spot as close as possible to the entrance.
I also enjoyed watching people getting off of the bus on a very dark, VERY cold day (-28 C, -32 C with windchill) one winter. They all filed off of the bus, shuffling along in a line until arriving at a building that one can cut through for warmth to get to the next stop. The building is part of a downtown shopping complex, and the entryway is a bank of eight doors. Every person in that line formed up and went through the SAME door, each waiting their turn in the dark, cold winter air rather than walking a few extra feet and choosing one of the other seven available doors. This behaviour continued for the duration of the week. π

Why humans (and convincing human-like simulations) indulge in this phenomena has alluded me for decades. It's maddening sometimes. I don't even think it confers a real advantage except in the really cold or rainy weather. I've seen people pass up spots with no cars around them just to park slightly closer to their destination and then have to carefully maneuver their way out of their car without hitting the cars parked right next to them. It doesn't make the process quicker for them, as a result. The "close" spot with no cars next to you is very often the better spot since it makes it easier to come and go (especially if you have an umbrella, groceries, etc). But I think people see parking spots as trophies and the closer it is, the better. These are people that I am very happy not to have anywhere near me. I'm just waiting for people to start taking selfies with the great spots they snagged π€·ββοΈ I also enjoyed watching people getting off of the bus on a very dark, VERY cold day (-28 C, -32 C with windchill) one winter. During Spring Break I did two Certification Exams. One was for Reading K-12 (Subject Area), and the other was a Professional Education Test.
Last year I did Social Sciences 6-12 and thought it might help my chance to get a full time position for 2021-2022 to have certification to teach Reading, but it's not a requirement. The Professional Education Exam is a requirement for all teachers.
Well, I failed the Reading K-12 Subject Area Certification, then the next day passed the Professional Education exam.
I received my official score for the Reading Exam...it was Pass/Fail with a Scaled score. 200 needed to pass...I scored 197. 3.lousy.points.
It doesn't disqualify me from being a full time teacher, but for now I'll keep trying for Social Sciences. Just a kickier that I was 3 points away from being qualified to teach kids to read.

Whole lot of stuff, most of it fairly petty and/or mind-boggling. An emergency call that took up most of the day highlighted just how trivial so many things are, and yet it seemed like people losing their homes etc. is "yes yes very sad, but can we start griping again?"

Where the hell is Robert Rodriguez?! Not spy kids and we can be heroes RR, but Mariachi and machete RR! I love the mariachi series, they need to explore that again. I miss his stuff, such cool grit, always a bit grimy, very tongue-in-cheek with that cool Latin flare. Iβd love to see him visit the old El Santo type movies with a tough guy luchador in an action movie setting in the Machete style, ultra violent and macho dark humour type thing. I wonder if you lose that capacity as your career progresses as a director (Iβm looking at YOU, Guy Ritchie!)? Anyway, this could be cool if it comes to fruition (creature from the e black lagoon remake!) www.google.ca/amp/s/www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/1167346-are-greg-nicotero-robert-rodriguez-remaking-creature-from-the-black-lagoon/amp

So I've finally moved to North Carolina.
It was a 14 hour car ride here. It was fine, if not very long - I hate long car rides because I get carsick snd shit like that.
We had to leave one cat behind because the calming meds knocked her out cold and we were unable to find where she was hiding out. Long story short, a friendly neighbor is leaving a cage trap out to catch her and she'll be at the new place in a week, thankfully.
After that ordeal, I've been asked so many times if I like it here or not -- I've been here for 42 hours, how would I know? Let me unpack my shit and relax first.

As of may 1, my province, Alberta, has the wonderful distinction of the highest number of average daily new cases of corona virus per 100000 people (41.3) in all of North America. What a great distinction, it has been shameful to watch, a combination of burnout, denial, and a weak provincial leadership that is afraid to lose the votes of its redneck base. Itβs hard to watch people crowding together as numbers soar and our hospitals are having to triage by most likely to survive for ICU spots. I hope we get our shit together as a population and get this nonsense under control. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

Why am I posting at approx 2:37 am Eastern?
Because my upstairs neighbors wanted to have their music cranking since 9:50 pm and the security in the rental community I live in are too lazy to do anything about it.

I've been there. I used to have a young guy as a neighbor who would have his friends over evey night until around two in the morning. They would drink and the drunker they got the louder they got. Luckily he ended up getting a job and the parties stopped.

I suppose I shouldn't be thrilled at how easy it's become to give certain people the cold shoulder but if they don't have time for me, I don't feel like making time for them.

Today was another reminder of how far apart we have drifted. At the same time, there's enough on my plate that I have to focus on me for a bit anyway.
