Canadian testing league is done: standings and match results are here.
challonge.com/byw1z7ibObservationsJimmy Nails and his Figure Four are
nasty. He scored at least two CRITs with it, possibly more (I took a long break from running these tests, suffice to say the dude does NOT mess around though)
Donna Nobel is
not to be overlooked. She's scored some wins over opponents that have a major size advantage on her, and she's definitely proving to be a hell of a competitor (but you knew that if you watched Proving Ground regularly, hmm? :p)
George Marleau is miles ahead of where he was last year, no doubt about it. He's definitely evolved from where he was back then and should be a strong competitor in this bracket.
Canadian Grizzly is Canadian Grizzly. He wears a bear on his head. He is the most Canadian man alive. You should be catching his matches wherever they happen: Santana Family Wrestling, Blackrose, anywhere and everywhere. :V
I'm still getting caught up on how 999 and Joey McCarty operate, but they're both damn good wrestlers. They're more than holding their own against the field, and that's putting it lightly where 999 is concerned: he's very, very good, but doesn't feel overwhelming (this may take a bit more testing, though).
Nikki's right in line with her usual MO: although she actually feels like she might be a little
underpowered this go-around? It's a bit strange, if I'm being totally honest. It might just be bad luck/RNG. I'll probably run another test league down the line before all's said and done.
Savojjin Sesi's feeling more or less where he was last time. Solid, doing what he's meant to do, maybe getting a bit unlucky. He does seem to have a habit of not going for the pin after his big moves, though.
Val Morgan is doing exactly what Bow tends to like: He's making people look good, and occasionally gutting out a win. He's fully capable of stunning a tougher opponent if they screw around too much.
Selene Ciel is still the defending champion, and can't be underestimated for a second. Zero doubt that she could run the table again if her opponents aren't careful.
So, yeah, it's been a little bit since the last update on this thing. I'm still waiting on a few things: the rest of the empty slots, a couple of edits that are in progress but not finished yet, a few people that have signed up for spots that haven't submitted yet, and trying to find an edit in some repertoires that doesn't completely obliterate everything in their path. That sorta thing.
Regarding themes, yes, I'll be using them, full entrances again this year. For those edits that are returning from last year's tournament, I still have their themes saved in their edited forms and I will be re-using those
unless you have a different one that you'd rather be used. For reference:
The Magician
Canadian Grizzly
Selene Ciel
Val Morgan
George Marleau
Nikki Knux
Savojjin Sesi
Those seven edits all have themes ready to roll.
sofia aroo Senator Phillips Zealot Ripley Love Wilcox (Bow isn't on the forum these days so I'll be contacting him elsewhere), lemme know if what I used last year is OK. If you don't remember what it is... um, I'll try to dig it up.
