This is almost completely certainly the last Fire Pro game. I could see Spike-Chunsoft doing a completely different wrestling game in a few years, if they are so inclined.

Yeah, this is definitely the last of the 'classic 2d' Fire Pro games. I could see either a 3d Fire Pro game or a new King of Colosseum game potentially down the road, but World is the finale of the 2d series. I think that's why they're going to release the move and parts creator, as Matsumoto said, he wanted to pass the series off to the fans who are still going to be playing it five and ten years down the road.

So far I got about 25% into this story and I am really liking it. I have always liked playing as original characters in Fire Pro stories. I can definitely see this being the last of the 2D Fire Pro games, but I am okay with that. From what we already have in our hands, it is an endless game. Add in the move and edit customizers coming in the future, it is limitless.

Yeah given how the actual last KoC game bombed and this game bombed, you're not getting another King of Colosseum game. That horse has long left the barn, cowboy.

My very naive hope is that Yuke's new game is a spiritual successor to KoC.
A guy can dream right?

My very naive hope is that Yuke's new game is a spiritual successor to KoC. A guy can dream right? Yukes has to do something new at this point. As long as they don't shoehorn that toukon engine into yet another game when they are finally free to do anything they want. It would be the ultimate irony if Yukes ended up doing the AEW game and made a modernized AKI engine for it.

There was a lot of life left in that engine when they got forced to focus purely on SvR. I think expecting Yuke's to do a spiritual successor to a game they had nothing to do with is a reach on par with Jordan at the end of Space Jam, honestly. The best chance for something like that is if an indie dev comes along that was a huge fan of KoC and let's be honest here...it's not that popular of a game either in Japan or in the west despite being the best wrestling game ever from a gameplay perspective.

I'm stuck on the S-1 sparring match against Uncle but I have enjoyed it so far. Luckily Steam were doing a bundle where I got this & Part Craft for about 11 bucks.
It's a bit rubbish that completing the mode only seems to unlock a couple of wrestlers and not everybody you locked up with during the story.

Thankfully, you can download them from the Workshop.

I thought someone would probably do the honours of putting them in the workshop but another weird move from Spike not to unlock them all.... after I'd paid for this content.
Just when I think I've learned the protagonists moveset, it all changes again.
