I wanted to test to see what happened if you edit or overwrite a wrestler that is part of an in-progress Fire Promoter season. This thread plays off of the conversation from this post.. Specifically:
I just ran these tests:
Edit 1: THRASH Ogawa. Popularity: C. Loyalty: C.
Edit 2: John Matthews. Popularity D. Loyalty: D. Holds a Championship.
Edit 3: Tenshi. Popularity D. Loyalty: C
For edits 1 and 2, I performed these three tests:
Test 1: I went into edit mode and loaded up THRASH's edit. I raised a parameter by 1 and edited his appearance slightly. I edited the appearance just so that I'd be able to verify that Fire Promoter acknowledged the presence of the updated edits. After editing him, I chose the "overwrote" option in the edit menu. I then went into Fire Promoter and verified that THRASH was updated and he was. There was no change in his Fire Promoter stats.
Test 2: I then went into THRASH's edit, made a parameter and appearance change and "Saved" over that slot. Fire Promoter recognized his updated appearance with no change to his stats.
Test 3: I performed the same two tests on John Matthews and the game recognized his appearance changed but with no change to his stats. He still held the Championship in Fire Promoter.
Test 4: I exited out of Fire Promoter and went into edit mode. I then opened up another edit entirely on my save named Mr. Clyde. I then saved Mr. Clyde over Tenshi's edit slot that was in Fire Promoter. I opened up Fire Promoter and the game recognized everything about Mr. Clyde but with Tenshi's Fire Promoter progress.
Popularity and Trust stayed the same.
Salary and condition stayed the same.
However, Mr. Clyde's attack and defense was different from Tenshi's.
His fighting style was the same but I'm not sure if that is a coincidence. 95% of my edits started off as King's Road, the same style as my promotion. So it's hard to tell if the game just assigned him the same fighting style because he's in the same slot as Tenshi or just because the game would assign them both King's Road anyway.
But the good news here is that Fire Promoter allows you to overwrite an edit in the middle of a playthrough and replace him with another edit. This is as close as we'll get to being able to change rosters without Spike allowing us to do so and without any specific mods that do it.
I have been able to edit a wrestler and also overwrite a wrestler with an edit from another slot. Neither of these activities has hurt the save file as far as I know. However, when I did that, the specific wrestler didn't have any Championships. I'm not sure if we can do these two things:
- Edit a Champion or overwrite a Champion with an edit from a new save slot and not lose that Title.
- Do that with an entirely different edit that would end up having different fighting style, etc.
I want to give that a try. I have so many wrestlers that I'm not really focusing on in Fire Promoter and I want to try replacing one of them with another edit entirely and see how much really changes.
I also want to try to edit a champion or overwrite them with "the same character" from a different save slot and see if the Championship stays on the wrestler. I'll report back when I do.
