I haven't even touched Promoter mode yet, but it's making me work overtime on my NJPW edits. I am wondering if it's possible to set up a semi-accurate representation of a real world scenario in the mode. Can I at least play as NJPW and set up the following promotions? WWE, IMPACT, ROH, AEW, PWG, CMLL, AJPW, NOAH, etc.
Can you remove the fictional groups/edits that are in it by default? I've read the cap of edits in the mode is 960. Is that correct? Is there a cap on the number of promotions you can have? Can you set up various promotions in different parts of the world?
Any answers are greatly appreciated!

Yes.

I dunno, but all the named promotions together don't have that many wrestlers.

16 is the max. You have to choose either 16, 12 or 8.
- Can you set up various promotions in different parts of the world?
Yes, altough only Japan, Europe, North America and Latin America are available.

Perfect, thank you. Can you add freelance guys who are not signed to any promotion? Can guys wrestle in more than one promotion? Also, is there a cap on the number of edits per promotion?

Yes, in fact when you set up promotions you choose which wrestlers are signed and which wrestlers are freelance. So for example, you would put Takayama in the NOAH roster and tick him as Freelance, he would then be in the Japan Freelance pool. I guess Freelancers show up in more than one promotion.
Don't know if there is a cap but I just tried starting a promotion with 79 wrestlers and it worked fine.

Right now the problem with "real promotions" is that you have to make sure your edits are tailored to the style of the promotion. For example WWE is showman but since we are just learning what makes an edit a "showman" versus a "strong" edit, your edits may not fit their promotion's style.
For example I consider Toryumon/Dragon Gate to be of the lucha style, so I am going individually through my Toryumon edits to make sure their skills/parameters make them fit the lucha style

Can you not assign them to the promotion or will they just get bad match ratings?

Depends on how badly their style clashes with the promotion. I'm running a Strong style promotion and I've got a couple Showman and King's Road dudes and they still can put on decent matches (They were a bit harder to sign due to being concerned about differences in styles however). I suspect a Freestyle (MMA) Fighter would struggle to put on a good performance in my promotion.
Also its worth nothing that while you have to pick a specific style for you promotion, you can actually change the evaluation style for individual matches while booking the card, so you can have a Showman style promotion that has Hardcore or Lucha rated matches.

You can change match styles even if your promotion has a different style (eg doing a Showman match even though you’re a lucha promotion). But all the wrestlers in that match better have that style or one of them may refuse to participate, which removes that match from the actual card. This can be problematic because many real promotions have oddballs — think the Florida Brothers in Dragon Gate, Rey Mysterio in WWE, Sekimoto in Big Japan, et al.

I've only had a problem with people I've invited never yet one that's actually signed

Pay attention to wrestler's salaries, because i've seen a lot of promotions going bankrupt after 1-2 years in the game...just because they can't afford to pay high salaries. Only the first 3-4 promotions in game have a lot of money, if you see the Others have less wrestlers and less money
