I've never played an Assassin's Creed game before but I've always been interested in doing so.
("It's history...come alive!" π )
I was under the (possibly false impression) that a lot of the games (maybe just early ones) were more about stealth than action. I'm not sure if that's true or if it still is true today.
A lot of the time periods they cover are compelling to me. I kind of wanted to play the recent pirate one but I knew it wouldn't really compete with Red Dead which I've barely had time for.
The new Valhalla game looks very interesting. I think I'd enjoy playing it after watching Vikings πͺ

I think stealth games are cool for what they are but they aren't really my cup of tea, personally.
I'm okay with having some stealth elements in more action oriented games. They tend to be a nightmare in Rockstar games though due to janky micro-scale movements. I can barely get my characters through doors half the time let alone sneak through a narrow, dark alleyway when the sheriff's after me π
I would love an action game where I'm a viking selling the seven seas (a bonus eighth via DLsea) and invading lands with my broadsword, axe, and long mane of hair. Any Norse mythology would be a plus β

Last of the World War Z DLC is now out. I went to buy it and completely forgot I already had a season pass and was pleasantly surprised to see Download instead of purchase. A GOTY Edition is now available that includes all the additional DLC missions with it.
Think I'm going to pick up Streets of Rage 4 Friday as well.

I was going to buy Streets of Rage 4 but thought I'd hold off until after I play the Jay and Silent Bob themed River City Ransom/Double Dragon game out this week. SoF 4 looks great though π
I never saw the movie World War Z but I remember thinking the commercials were cool - particularly the way the zombies worked together to take down a helicopter. That "hive mentality" was a really interesting take on zombies that I never saw before. It seems like it's in the game too which is just like a perfect survival/horror terrifying thing to deal with once they start chasing you. There doesn't appear to be many, if any, safe zones.

You might like the movie if you've never read the book. The book is phenomenal but the movie it's supposed to be based on uses absolutely nothing from the book except the title World War Z. I do however like the game since it's as close as the PS4 has come to getting a Left 4 Dead style shooter. Every mission in the game takes place in a different part of the world with a different set of four survivors. There are safe zones you're supposed to make it to, through each level just like Left 4 Dead where you heal up and re-arm for the next stage of the level. Many missions do have objectives beyond simply kill zombies, although most missions also have at least one hold out point where you have to fortify an area and hold off a horde. If anyone liked the Left 4 Dead games, they will like WWZ.

Streets of Rage is on game pass and it's really fun so far. I love that the graphics are like, just updated big sprites. I don't need it to be pseudo-3d, and I'm super over how many indie games use an affected "retro" pixel-art style. These are just big, drawn sprites in high res and it looks great.
I didn't play the originals as much as I did Final Fight, but it feels like Streets of Rage to me. Punching enemies and throwing them into each other is super satisfying. Weapons are plentiful and fun to use, and with the right timing, you can bounce a thrown weapon off an enemy's face and catch it mid-air.
The new "big" guy is super fun, too. He's SO slow I regretted picking him right away. Then I got surrounded and realized he can grab two enemies at a time, and shit. Was. On. You can switch guys after each stage too, so you can try everyone out a bit.

Yeah, I never read the book so I could go into the movie without any expectations beyond the commercials. It's weird that the movie isn't anything like it. That must have been disappointing for fans of the book. I've never been into FPS games all that much (besides a brief and confusing obsession with Unreal Tournament for about a year, LOL) but I did like Left 4 Dead and its sequel. I thought it nailed the feel of a zombie horde chasing you and the "relative" relief you have when you find a safe zone. Good to know that WWZ is fun! π§ββοΈ Streets of Rage is on game pass and it's really fun so far. I love that the graphics are like, just updated big sprites. I really like that look. I'm not into pseudo-3D but would love huge, high quality sprites. The new "big" guy is super fun, too. He's SO slow I regretted picking him right away. REALLY like the option to switch guys out between stages. One reason I kinda got bored of beat-em ups was that I was forced to use the same character the entire time for most games. I'm definitely going to lead with the big guy though when I play. That's really cool he can grab two enemies!

SoR4 has been a blast, and yeah, Floyd is a powerhouse, his double tap special just crushes opponents and his grabs are strong. Cherry's fun to combo with, her ability to launch herself around the screen can wreak havoc on heavy hitters and big crowds alike. Adam's probably my favorite to use overall, though, he's got a good mix between being able to close distance fast with his lunges, and hits hard enough when he gets there. Hoping we get more playable characters down the road, would at the very least like to get Shiva, Max and Estel, although I'd also enjoy having Diva, Skate, Roo and Zan.

That is especially depressing. Always sucks to see an author just feel gut-punched by a spin-off of their work. I'm gonna have to check out the book too, but probably after I watch the movie π

Nice, Like a Dragon looks wonderful... Iβm officially stoked! π I did notice that the trailer did not show that the game is going to have turn based combat this time around.
EDIT: Void Bastards now up on PSN

Whoa, not feeling the turn based idea for like a dragon, have to see how that is moving forward. π
THIS looks disturbing and very interesting all in the same breath. Itβs just a trailer, but daaayum. π³
