You’re right, they do. This will be straight up blasphemy for you, Nth, but I’ve NEVER played shadowrun in any capacity in any of its iterations. I always thought it looked cool, but the good ones always seemed to be on the PC.

There were only SNES and Genesis Shadowrun games until the recent PC series, although I think there was a long forgotten Saturn Shadowrun game that only came out in Japan. There was an Xbox Shadowrun game, but everyone hated it because Microsoft wouldn't let them develop it as an RPG since first person shooters were becoming popular on the system thanks to Halo. So the dev team including poor Mitch Gitelman (one of the top Shadowrun guys) were forced to make a poorly received Shadowrun arena shooter which Gitelman actually apologized to Shadowrun fans for online.
It's mainly known for the tabletop RPG which came out a year behind Cyberpunk 2020. They were actually in production at the same time and Jordan Weisman, the creator of Shadowrun realized his game was so similar to Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk 2020 that he was afraid he would get sued. Anyway, watching a documentary at 3am about the Mayan calendar supposedly predicting the end of the world inspired Weisman to add in the fantasy elements to Shadowrun, essentially combining William Gibson's cyberpunk novels with Tolkien's fantasy novels creating an insane mash up.
Not an actual Shadowrun movie teaser, just a fan made mashup of what a Shadowrun movie would look like.

The next Assassin's Creed game has been announced: Assassin's Creed Valhalla
It's set during the Viking invasion of Britain in the 9th century
I really enjoyed both Origins and (especially) Odyssey, so I'm looking forward to seeing what this new story and setting brings
I'll be curious to see if the map is just relegated to the British Isles or if there will actually be stuff to do in the Norse lands (namely, modern Denmark, Norway, and Sweden)and settlements along the southern edge of the North Sea (i.e. in modern France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany); it would seem like a waste of the sailing mechanic otherwise (because of the relatively small area compared to the last two games)

Close. It was Sega CD, not Saturn. Here is an article with more information if anyone was curious. I sorta enjoyed what I tried of the 360 game as just a shooter on its own but it annoyed me as a Shadowrun game. The main thing I recall is them turning essence into a generic rechargeable "MP" bar.

I really do wish people would stop getting bent out of shape about that shit. NONE of the Assassin's Creed games have ever been 100% historically accurate. I've never expected them to be.

I have no problem with historic aspects of a historically themed game being analyzed. I actually like learning about all the historic aesthetics through videos likes those.

Sorry mate, I didn't mean to harsh you at all and I apologize if that's how I came off. Just never been a fan of YouTube "experts."

When the title is NOT REAL VIKINGS!!! with no less than three exclamation points, I can figure it's probably gonna be a bit hyperbolic for me, even if it's otherwise well-researched. Especially when, given AC's track record, it's probably still gonna be a more accurate portrayal than pretty much anything else in fiction.
Super excited for this game though. What little we've seen, and what we've heard about, sounds amazing. This is gonna be a must-buy for me.

Yeah, I kinda stopped playing Assassins creed for a while, they always look great, and I LOVED AC2 and black flag (lost interest with the tower defence/turn based strategy territory invasion crap they jammed in there, screw that!). I love Norse stuff, so this is right up my alley, and yeah, it looked like there were some Scandinavian landscapes in the trailer, so hopefully it’s not totally British isles based. I could see some France or Russia dlc potentially, and those guys like to get mythological with at least one dlc package these days.
I wonder if YouTube guy went after Kratos’ leviathan ace, too?! 🙂

I wonder if YouTube guy went after Kratos’ leviathan ace, too?! 🙂 I think I'm the only AC fan for whom 2 and Black Flag aren't the holy grails of the series - for as many things as 2 objectively improved, it feels more "video gamey" than the original and doesn't necessarily have the same je ne sais quoi to me. And I loved the pirate parts of Black Flag but felt like the assassin parts didn't work as well (story or mechanic-wise), and it's actually the only AC game I've played for any significant time but never finished. Origins, however, is my absolute favorite in the series (and I know I've extolled its virtues around here before) and I thought Odyssey was great, too (although, again unlike most fans, I don't like it better than Origins). They were willing to really rethink some big picture things with Origins and it paid off massively. They seem to be approaching Valhalla with a similar mindset and that's very exciting to me. Bring on these Assassin's Creed RPGs as long as they're this good! Edit: oh, and I meant to mention that I read that you start in Norway and can return there when you want (although it wasn't clarified whether that means in-story or like a "chapter replay" function).
