Kickpad star The trim also includes the guard trim to cut down on layers used, and there are three different shine layers (fill+trim, trim only, and fill only) And I went back to messed with the cowboy boot designs, and now I think they're way more legible I think next on my list is to finally get into a big-ass irezumi/yakuza tattoo project I've been putting off ...or maybe just get into move crafting to put it off further WHO KNOWS OH ALSO, I went back and redid my first kickpad design (top of this page) a few days ago. It's not really worth a screenshot, but I thinned the lines out a bit and now they don't stretch like crazy in some angles. Went a little nuts with the warping the first time around

Alright, so I think I'm gonna keep a sort of progress log in this thread of that irezumi project, if only to keep myself, uh... somewhere between motivated and accountable is the word I'm looking for Anyway, so after doodling around a bit, I think I've settled on the basic designs: Left will be for Male M and include a half-sleeve (and I might pare it down for a Male S version), right is for F (+ Male S waist) and will have a thigh half-sleeve that'll be continuations of the two snakes. Or that's the plan, anyway Gonna be a fun little nightmare to do

Redrawn subject designs: Then vectored and reasonably cleaned up: I'm kind of torn on adding a scale pattern to the snakes, but I think it'd make them way too busy

Man, irezumi in general isn't a style I'm terribly familiar with doing, but the mikiri/black water/cloud backgrounds especially have been tripping me up hard HOWEVER, I think I ended up with something I dig for the snake design: I keep thinking I should do something with the hannya's tusks and teeth though, 'cause they currently look like a mustache but I also like the idea of it just being oni Stan Hansen

Haven't updated in a bit because I was playing amateur plumber the last couple days or so But I did make some chest parts for each design, and decided the best way to go about placing all this stuff is to do it in Illustrator first so the patterns keep their integrity and don't become a nightmare to work with Anyway, it's a real mess right now, but it's still coming along

Man oh man The thing I was worried about the most with this is how well the chest and waist parts will work together, since there's a lot of room for it to get wonky So after finishing warping and placing the phoenix chest and waist parts, I slapped together a quick placement test and played a ~20 minute or so match, and, well... I think it ends up working surprisingly well in most situations. Sometimes it wonks out pretty hard like in #7, but it's quick and seemed pretty unnoticeable in motion unless I was specifically looking for it So I guess the theme of today's update is that it's going better than expected so far :D

amazing to see the process you've taken from drawing to implementation - might be a eye opening to others about how much work it takes to get this kind of phenomenal output. you dont just rustle up greatness
