If I remember correctly there are two versions of the move based on past fire pros. Riki choshu/scorpion death lock, and bret hart sharpshooter. The sharpshooter doesn't critical.
Choshu invented the move.

It finisher criticals, it's not a submission critical.
The "Scorpion Deathlock" and "Sharpshooter" are different in that, primarily, the Scorpion is significantly more powerful. I actually use that one for people whose primary finish is the Sharpshooter, as you can, of course, rename their finish anyway. The move named "Sharpshooter" was probably more intended for the plethora of Japanese guys who did it just to do it, especially in the 90's when it was very popular there. I also use that variant for guys that use it frequently, but rarely win with it, like Cesaro or The Rock. The "Sharpshooter" variant actually may not critical at all, I'm not positive.
If that .gif was a couple seconds longer, it would show Bret breaking it, too.

If that .gif was a couple seconds longer, it would show Bret breaking it, too. What the hell are you talking about it. That was an Ultra Okite Yaburi Ultimate Super Critcial Ex.He immediately quit his job, punched a defenseless old man, took permanent stat reductions and was reduced to a whining old lady for the rest of his days. He had to strap a steel plate to his chest to hold himself together, but it didn't help because he then succumbed to a super kick from Goldberg. Bret was in such shambles that he didn't even have to bother delivering his own super kick to finish the job. He outsourced it. That was the most devastating move in the history of pro wrestling. Geese and Sooj are hip to my jive.

I'm laughing my ass off at all that and Bret's my fave of all time (I assume that "permanent stat reduction" also applies to going to WCW) "ULTRA OKITE YABURI ULTIMATE SUPER CRITICAL! EX" would make Capcom jealous too with naming 😁 Geese and Sooj are hip to my jive. I dig it 😎 If that .gif was a couple seconds longer, it would show Bret breaking it, too. A perfect Fire Pro ending where the guy immediately breaks out of a sub he lost to right as the bell rings 😁

(I assume that "permanent stat reduction" also applies to going to WCW) Yeah. He hit Sting with a bat five times and all that happened was Sting asking if there was a draft.
