Ok. So Carl discussed piracy in a group message with an admin, but wasn't banned by that admin for it. Word of it later got to another admin who personally dislikes Carl and it was used as the reason to finally get rid of him, which had been desired for reasons not relating to piracy, as detailed in the ban post.
I guess what rubs me the wrong way is the disingenuous nature of it all. A thread titled "Piracy", but most of the reasons given in that thread have to do with Carl being a prick and sowing discontent among the community. But the technical justification is arguably there this time. Though now I know it wouldn't even have to be and no one could do anything about it.

Carl had been starting to go rogue without flat-out admitting he was going rogue, and it was causing discontent. When he finally, openly declared his intent to go rogue, the admins discussed it and Brick shouldered the decision. At this point, you've got your views and they're not changing, so I'll just leave you be. Though I do miss your humor during streams. Are you a moderator? |

If I felt the place wasn't providing a proper home for Fire Pro fans, I could always yank the domain. It wouldn't kill the board mind you, would be more of an annoyance really.
But I don't feel it's the case. Asides, I've paid for this long-term.
Carl is a very important member of the community, which extends past this board. He will continue to be and be that without the thing he hates the most: dealing with people.
I can see the banned members. The time we've been here, we've banned 5 people. And one of them's user name was redacted for fuck's sake.

Such topic, much discussion. No, I'm not. I'm also not a blind follower. When Carl first drew the line in the sand on August 22nd I actively asked him not to because it was going to bleed the community and punish people who have nothing to do with mods. AND HERE WE FUCKING ARE. Edit: But if you wanna go down the line of 'then who the fuck are you?' feel free. Everyone else is doing it to people. |

I didn't ban him because all this went down while I was trying to have dinner out of the house. I was going to give it some thought, but ultimately discussed the matter with Brick and came to the consensus that, essentially, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Carl had banned a user for repeatedly bragging about piracy on this forum right when it started, and since he went one further than that in LEVEL's group PM, I felt like I had to follow suit per site rules. It sucks, but. :/ I'm not going to say I agree with Brick's post about the situation because a.) to begin with it made me realize he had a slightly different take of what happened per the report to him (brick was told it was a direct link to a torrent when it was not) and b.) I'm not sure if even having a discussion of the banning was constructive in the first place, because both he and respondents in favor or opposed to the action were being pretty over-emotional and/or uncivil towards one another. |

It's not like there's an inquisition going on.
Some people left. Sure. But they'll still create their stuff and if you are into that, you have plenty of ways to find out where is their new home.
Some people left in the past and never re-entered the "main" community. I'm sure some of them don't even remember why they left exactly, or if that situation is even still relevant.

Used to people jumping into that as of late towards anybody not defending Carl, though. I'm active because I was tied to the thread and people are throwing around things based solely on Brick's reactions and not, yknow, Carl actually saying what he said. It's tiring. I'm tired. I perked up last month and asked nicely to not fucking shank the community and basically had it thrown in my face. A month later, the community got shanked and everyone is going 'WAIT HOW'D THIS HAPPEN!?' and I'm on the sideline my my palm so deep in my face I cant get it out. |

I was just getting a fair amount of enjoyment out of the community and it's just been sapped ever since the DLC delay announcement, and it wasnt remotely due to the delay. Then the DLC hit and I was hopeful, and that was crushed in like a 12 hour time frame. |
