For what it's worth, I tried a smaller screen size and the game ran...better. So I tried the smallest screen size and it runs PERFECTLY.
Granted, now it kind of feels like I'm playing it on a gameboy, so I'm hoping there's some kind of fix possible. Might try a full reinstall, but the game definitely seems to be using its available memory differently. I guess it could just be my system, but according to what I've heard Carl say, the way the game is programmed, it's only CAPABLE of using a certain amount of memory, and it normally is nowhere close to my maximum available.
I don't want to sound all doom and gloom, though, cause this update is pretty nice when it's running smoothly. It finally LOOKS like a finished game, and not a beta or a homebrew. (Oddly, the new menu graphics never slow down at all for me, even on the matchup screen where the wrestlers themselves are animated at half speed.)
We get FIVE voice slots now (and I WILL use them), and maybe more importantly, you can A) preview voices while IN the drop-down menu (meaning no more "go down one, select it, preview it, open the menu again, go down one, select it, preview it, etc.") and B) KEEP which selection you have set when switching voice types (meaning no more "find the voice sample you like, but that voice type isn't right, so pick another one, resetting your current sample, so scroll ALLL the way back to sample 58 or whichever one, select, preview it, then if that isn't right, do it ALLLL again for the next voice type"), you can just...switch it, till you find the right "YEAH" or whatever.
Those of you who care about it can alphabetize your wrestlers in the select screen with the push of a button now. Also, they got rid of the stupid blank space at the beginning, AND you can apparently switch stables/feds with a button press (although I'm not sure what it corresponds to on keyboard.)
The new bearhug (bearhugS, because we get it as a run counter, too, and I didn't realize how much my old school guys needed that until now), the gourdbuster, the new lariat, all look amazing. The handful of other moves all look pretty good, too.
Can't wait to get my hands on the NJPW DLC, FINALLY, as well, for the new moves and parts if nothing else. Been lookin' through the window at that shit for too long.
