The first night has wrapped! The West Bracket took center stage to open the tournament and did not disappoint: here's how it all shook out. Twitch VOD: www.twitch.tv/videos/300727783Youtube: youtu.be/1jRq7jqZgJkRESULTS Rough showing for Candace. Katie clearly had something to prove ahead of her tournament match and Candace was left bleeding and totally out of it. Geese Walker is still the man. Strong showing from Mackenzie, here, but Geese simply had more to bring to the table. Kellaron scores another big victory to kick off the tournament... maybe the kid's starting to figure it out? Or maybe Winifred's age is finally catching up... This was beyond impressive for Camacho. Walker never got anything going... not even one of his signature dances, really. Warrior Pro champion Doc Wyatt continues to look strong even away from home, bringing down the Magician after a VERY hard-fought brawl. Perhaps it was bad prep, perhaps it was a lack of focus, but Layla didn't get anything rolling in the second exhibition, and got dismantled by Ribbit. Anna Bryant is all heart, but even that wasn't enough to survive the onslaught of the vicious Hypnosia, who left the young Boise native down and out of the tournament after a nasty brainbuster. The West Side Kid gave this one his all... and just as he was bouncing back from another of Rex Burning's COLOSSAL apron moves, the Oregon representative pulled a chair from out of the blue... and tossed it at his opponent! Referee Hana Brightly, perhaps not watching the whole thing until the right/wrong moment, called for the DQ... and Rex Burning SCREWS West Side Kid out of what could've been a huge victory! What's the measure of a dead man? Not enough to take down TEXAN SPIRIT, that's for sure. Travis Oliver gave this one all he had, but it seems he's destined to fade back into the spirit realm once again... and Johnny Morris moves on. Match of the night. There is no doubt, there is no argument. These two women tore it up in a big way, taking everything the other dished out, in what became a truly vicious match that saw both of them leave it all on the table... a MASSIVE Belly-to-Belly suplex off the top rope by Georgia, followed by a rib-crushing SPEAR, finally put this one away, and Georgia Eagles stood triumphant at the end of the night... but this one could've easily swung in either direction at any moment. Anna Bryant Anna sits backstage with an ice pack on her neck, wincing slightly. "I gave it all I had. It wasn't enough, but I did the best I could. Hypnosia is scary... I'm not sure she would've stopped until I was finished, if I'd been able to keep going. Felt like she wanted to pull my arm off or wrench my neck around until I gave up. But she's tough, and I think she's gonna go far. It feels awful, losing this early, but I'll keep my head high." Kellaron Sentarl "It always means a hell of a lot more when you're fighting for something. The family name doesn't mean quite as much in this thing: what matters is repping my home. The place I've lived my entire life. This isn't about good guy, bad guy, controlling a show or any of that. This tournament is to come together and create something huge, something unlike anyone's ever done before. And I'm honored to be a part of it, and honored that I'm going to be facing off against a legend in Geese Walker." Winifred Wright Winifred has a towel over her head, and an ice pack wrapped around her waist, the veteran powerhouse looking uncharacteristically vulnerable as she winces in pain. "I gave the kid everything I had in the tank. Everything. Literally... you saw the way I lost my breath out there. Saw how I completely ran out of steam and almost couldn't keep going. You people deserve better than that. Utah deserved better than that. Forty-six years old... maybe my body's finally telling me I don't have much time left. But I'll be damned if I go out on my back. I'm not dead yet. I'm not retiring yet. I may be out of the tournament... but I'm not ready to quit. My career's not dead yet..."

Doc Wyatt Sitting on a chair, exhausted, Brick next to him feeding him water and holding an ice pack over his neck.
Doc: I did what I said I would do- and now I'm one step closer to proving to the world what the people in Warrior Pro already know- that I am the pinnacle of this industry. But seriously, what is up with this tournament. First I have to beat a magician, now...a... hypnosia? What the fuck is a hypnosia? Brick: No ahdia boss Doc: Doesn't matter. We'll rest up, check out Warrior Grounds, and be back here for another victory. This entire western bracket is mine for the taking...

Anaba Anaba Camacho: I have proven that I am a threat to anyone! Ethan Walker tried. He failed. I'm waiting now for Johnny Morris. Johnny, you have a very dangerous reputation. I'd like to see if I can't put a dent in it. I am a proud Navajo woman, and I am the strongest pure wrestler in all the States. They wouldn't let me test myself against the best of the NCAA, but here in the 49th Parallel, I have a chance to prove to the world that I am the best in North America! I will not be denied my opportunity and I will not waste it!

I thoroughly enjoyed that first round and I’m already looking forward to the next one! :D I’m going abroad tomorrow so unfortunately I won’t be able to make it to any of the shows live but rest assured I’ll be catching up on YouTube ASAP.

The East bracket took the lead tonight and took us to the halfway point of the first round. Time to take a look at how it all went down. Twitch: www.twitch.tv/videos/302356911Youtube: youtu.be/UgHk0oF-hc8Quick Results Blake Dynamite def. Meow Mask Ribbit def. Anniken Caprice Yoshi Tayaki def. George Woods Alan Wright def. Tommy Day Cecilia Laurence def. Katie Coons Winifred Wright def. Selene Ciel Dean Bardo def. Misty Pereira Danger Daniels def. Tommy O'Malley CJ Fresh def. Jesse Kane Dawn Hawkins def. Tara Helmsley Write-ups A hot opener that set the stage for the show: Meow Mask looked surprisingly tough here, but as his matches in AAW tended to go, it was no different here, Blake pulling off another big win as seems to be his habit. Ribbit pulled off one hell of a win here to open up the main card, keeping a blistering pace that Anniken simply seemed incapable of keeping up with. But make no mistake: Anniken certainly didn't roll over for the fan favorite here. Two AAW stars squared off and lived up to their home fed with a rough, vicious brawl... one that Tayaki seemed determined to end FAST when Woods busted him open mid-way through the match off a hard punch. A big-time Mud Splash seemed to take the wind right out of the Maine representative, and Tayaki moved on in violent fashion. Tommy Day came to fight... but Alan Wright wasn't going to be pushed around by the AAW star from Jersey. Day threw everything he had at Wright, but couldn't seal the deal... and Alan Wright finally managed to plant Day firmly and move on to the second round, set to face ANOTHER AAW star. Both women brought exactly what was expected of them here: Katie kept working hard strikes and showing a surprising amount of power for her size, while Cecilia broke out more and more flips and spins as the match went on. But a crushing sequence of wild, fast-paced offense, leading into Reach For The Stars, put this one to rest and sent Cecilia on to the second round. Winifred made a claim ahead of this show that she was taking a look at herself... well, she came out with an all-new look and brand new offense to match. She stood face-to-face with Selene Ciel of Quebec, one of the most dangerous women in the tournament, and displayed exactly why she's such a feared veteran... you certainly CAN teach an old dog new tricks, as Winifred would ultimately lock in a brand-new submission hold to take the victory. Misty Pereira, wrestling her first professional match, looked like a veteran against overwhelming odds. She did everything she could to stay in this match, rolling Bardo up, keeping him guessing, but couldn't quite finish the job... still, there's a lot to be impressed with here, even if Bardo would eventually take the win. Tommy O'Malley, out of Massachusetts, seemed to be a bit of an unknown going into this. He won't be unknown after this one, taking Danger Daniels to the limit in what turned out to be one of the best matches of the night. Daniels would ultimately take the win, but O'Malley is sure to make waves in the future. Arguably one of the best matches of the night, Jesse Kane and CJ Fresh went hard straight out of the gates. Neither seemed prepared to back down, but after three Fresh Drops, CJ fell back on a hard bridging German suplex that finally put this one away, and set him up for the second round. Tara Helmsley has an attitude, no doubt about it... but attitude is hardly enough to carry one through a match. Dawn Hawkins, meanwhile, worked exactly what was expected... hard kicks and a quick pace that would eventually take its toll, a final axe kick sealing this one, and setting Hawkins up with a shot at Cecilia Laurence next.

Danger Daniels: Well here we are. When I heard the news that I'd been booked to face Tommy O'Malley, I assumed I'd be facing a drunken, obnoxious asshole....and I wasn't wrong. But Tommy, you earned my respect man. You may have been drunk off your ass, but you stepped up big time, and pushed me way harder than I anticipated. I'm not ashamed to say I got a little lucky tonight, it was a great fight, and a great match. I'm honored to be advancing in the 49th Parallel Tournament.
Which brings me to my next opponent. CJ Fresh, you are one badass brother, and yeah, you're pretty damn fresh. I dig your look, I dig your style...but style don't win you wrestling matches. You know what does win matches? Being dangerous as fuck. And that's what I do. You bring the best game you got my man, let's see if you're fresh enough to overcome the Danger!

Misty Pereira promo: (Trainers and staff attend to Misty's aid in the back, as she gets an ice pack to put on her neck and a hot towel. She asks for a moment to herself as she sits down on a bench, head down as a crew of cameramen and news personnel arrive)
....Phew...Gimme...a sec.
(She sticks out her right arm towards the cameras, and points out a finger, signaling she wants to have a word after she catches her breath)
Aiii...This was wild, ze?
(She picks her head up)
This...was...everything I wanted and more. I wanted a chance to prove what I can do, and chegou! Bang! Here I am! It's been months of insane training and adapting to everything, and to almost...almost win my first professional match here, ze!
(Misty winces a bit as she applies the ice pack a little lower down the back of her neck)
But, while I'm here, I'd like to thank everyone that got me here in the first place and believed in me. From my family and friends in Essex, Vermont, to NorthStarLion and Johnnie Weatherford in the Indomitable Wrestling Institute, who've toughened me up to prepare for this. All the kisses and hugs from me to you all.
(Misty fumbles with what she wants to finish this off her train of thought, before concluding)
I...I got stopped here after giving it my all to a boss of an opponent. But this is only the beginning for me, ze.
(Briefly pauses) Vai, vai, vai!

Winifred Wright "Consider THAT what should've been. I thought coming into this tournament I could keep working with what I already had. That I didn't need to change a thing for facing the kid. I looked past Kellaron and paid for it, but now you get to see what could've been. Who SHOULD be facing Geese Walker in the second round instead of some kid that's in so far over his head he doesn't even know he's drowning yet. But not to put Selene Ciel down. That girl's tough as hell. You think 'Quebec', you don't think of someone as talented and dangerous as that, but here we are. Tell ya one thing, she's gonna go far... this was just an exhibition. When she steps up for real next week... I guarantee she drops Nikki Knux. I guarantee she goes on to the second round and sweeps that one too. And whoever stands in her way... well, between you and me, I think Selene Friggin' Ciel has what it takes to win that whole damn bracket. Just keep in mind that if I'd brought my A-game from the start... there'd be no one... NO ONE, that could stop me. Not Selene. Not Geese Walker. Certainly not Kellaron Sentarl."

Dean Bardo
Dean Bardo: I have done this long enough that I am not going to get too excited over winning a match. I expect that if I am competing, I have to do so with the belief I am going to win. And I did win this match. My opponent, Misty Pereira has not been at this for two decades. She lacked my experience, and that was a difference maker. But Misty demonstrated the skill of a seasoned wrestler. She fought with enthusiasm and fighting heart. And I had to work hard to defeat her. This was not an easy match and she will only go upward from here. I know a lot of feds out there that would love to have someone like her on their roster, and if she wants any help, I would be happy to provide it.
Dean: Now I have one of the most popular wrestlers in the entire tournament up next. Ribbit is rightfully loved by fans around the Critical Alliance. She is charismatic, explosive, agile, unpredictable. The sort of match up that I honestly might have trouble with, especially if I can't keep her grounded. But I'll do what I have to do. I'm a Professional, after all.

(Most recent Proving Ground spoilers ahead too) Somewhere a bald eagle weeps for Jesse Kane... hell of a match though, congrats to CJ.
And thanks for showing Meow Mask some love, maybe he should take lessons from Todd Colton on how to actually win a match (especially after considering what happened tonight on Proving Ground).
