Just checked out Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, specifically the Evander Hollyfield episode, what a cool session! Very cool story about how Evander got into boxing and came up through the ranks, and he and Tyson talk about knowing each other in the amateur days, very cool stuff, and not even any cannibalism! Definitely one to check if you like boxing!
Also, has anyone seen Tyson lately? He looks f&$king incredible! 😳

Apparently he's appearing on a TV show about sharks.
Which completely leads to an inescapable reality where Mike Tyson KTFO's a shark 😲

I found an episode of (everyone’s favourite) the Jim Cornette experience where they did an interview with FTR. This was just as they were about to start at AEW, pretty cool chance for them to give their impressions of their time at NXT/WWE, what they’re all about, their influences, and their mission to present pro wrestling in a more serious, less acrobatic routine fashion. They’re pretty interesting cats, it was a fun listen, and it kind of reminded me of why I have a very hard time caring about any current pro wrestling. I’ll have to check out some of their matches, if you’re a fan of FTR, check this one out (ignore Cornette interrupting...).

Just finished Hotboxin with mike Tyson’s Freeway Rick Ross episode. Ross is an interesting guy, smart, aware, and well spoken. Not sure why I’m surprised, he’s only one of the biggest dealers of all time, he just sounds so normal. Really turned stuff around and wants to make a difference. I’d love to hear Ross interviewed by Simone good, Tyson kept going off on tangents, changing the subject, and interrupting. Tyson’s antics aside, this was a good podcast and a nice peek into Rick Ross.

He’s pretty gracious about the whole thing considering what pseudo-Rick said about him

Had to hack through some scrubby bush to find this trail again, but for those of you still consuming podcasts, I just found out William Regal is doing one now called Gentleman Villain! Sorry if this is old news, I live under a rock and don’t do social media at all, so if you’ve already seen it, my apologies, if you haven’t, please enjoy! I haven’t listened to any of them yet, but if it’s Regal telling stories, and it’s not all slanted to make any one promotion sound good, then I’m in!

Listened to a couple of the William Regal podcasts, early thoughts are that I think the host could be better, maybe lead/focus the show a bit better, and it feels like he’s a bit too tow the company (AEW) line. He asked something that seemed to make Regal a bit uncomfortable in trying to come up with a diplomatic answer.
Regal seemed to wander a bit a la grandpa Simpson, the content is great when it’s delivered, maybe he’s a bit tired or, like he commented, a few too many knocks on the head over the years. I kept thinking the audio was going out as he told his stories, but he was just having issues getting it out. It’s still good, just noticeable, maybe more apparent after listening to that motor mouth Cornette all of the time. All that stuff aside, there are some cool stories and some good history in the two episodes I’ve listened to. Check ‘em out!

I’ve been looking for some alternative pro wrestling podcasts to listen to since Cornette’s stuff has drifted away from talking about classic/territory wrestling to almost entirely critiquing AEW/WWE (I have zero interest in either of those these days). I’ve done Nash’s podcast a few times, his road stories are fun, but the host is annoying at times, and nash losing his son has definitely taken a bit of the wind out of his sails (understandably).
One I’ve found that I really enjoy and is pretty upbeat is Stories with Briscoe and Bradshaw, hosted by, as the title suggests, Gerald Briscoe and John Bradshaw Layfield. They are both really upbeat, entertaining, and know how to talk, plus, they’re a great source of pro wrestling knowledge and have great stories! They’ve had some really good guests that span the years and roles in pro wrestling, all with really cool, funny, and informative stories.
The most recent Briscoe and Bradshaw I’ve listened to features Josh Barnett. The man is a beast, he should be dubbed a national treasure for being a part of the resurrection and preservation of catch as catch can wrestling, there’s some really good shit in this one! Please give it a listen if you’re a fan of pro wrestling, combat sports, or anything entertaining really, Barnett is great!

Holy shit, just did the Briscoe and Bradshaw with Sabu… after listening to Josh Barnett, an intelligent, articulate, driven, passionate, funny guy, listening to Sabu was torture. He had some interesting stories, but he’s definitely showing the effects of his life and in ring styles now. Yikes!
Credit to the hosts, they made the best of it, were respectful, and kept him on topic as best they could!

Yeah, Briscoe and Bradshaw is great, lots of old stories, those two are great together, love the Oklahoma/Texas jabs between them, their guests are fun, and there’s very little mention of the current product. The history lessons in these podcasts are great, I loved Cornette’s stuff for that, but these days it’s purely reviews of current product. Ignoring his dislike of the current stuff and simply listening to how he feels it hurts pro wrestling is interesting, and gives insight into how things were run in the past, but the heavy focus on AEW/WWE is just not interesting to me. I’m really very happy with Briscoe and Bradshaw, the content is perfect and offers behind the scenes views of territories, and fills out more history which is what got me into Cornette’s podcasts in the first place!
I know I’ve gone on about this for a while, but this stuff is really good, very positive and upbeat, all while being pretty informative. This feels like sitting in the back of the car on those long trips on the highways and interstates between shows, only you don’t have to hand the driver open beers or dodge shopping carts that the Steiners are throwing at you! 😁
