Do you think changing the grapple system so that holding a face button (circle, square cross) would produce a different move compared to just tapping it. eg. up & cross (tap) would do a brainbuster and up & cross (hold) would do a exploder. I think i vaguely remember this being in a few of the old wrestling games and I was wondering if this could be incorporated into Fire Pro's controls and logic.

If Spike changed the pin button to something like a basic "clutch grapple" button from KOC, they could probably use it to open up at least one extra set of moves whenever it's held down. Unlikely to happen, since CPU Logic would need to undergo a massive update and they're pretty hesitant to modify anything that affects Logic.
I just hope that we receive an update somewhere down the line that makes the "Pin" button do more than just pin grounded opponents.

It'd been cool if the pin button could do things like turn opponent around or do a back switch, maybe in the corner R1 could lower the opponent to a seated position which would open up more moves to be done in the corner.

I would make it so that holding down L1 while inputting a button command would produce a different move, like in AJPW Kings Soul. Example: Square = Armwrench L1 + Square = Armwrench + Elbow Smash And so on. You'd get twice as many possible grapple moves immediately and you could fill every slot logically.
I'm not sure how well "holding the button to produce a different move" would work in comparison because of the timing based nature of the grappling.

It would be cool if a different game did this, but not Fire Pro. Fire Pro could expand move slots and have directions+[]+X and open up /\+O like KOC, but things like long presses and holds and taps... I think that’s a bridge too far.

I think we’re good for the amount of slots in Fire Pro but I do agree that getting some more options from the pin button would be a nice addition.
