So, did anyone ever figure out how to unlock Giant Baba and Jumbo in FFP?
None of the guides have it, from what I've seen, and I realize that I've played this game so many times and never unlocked them.

I don't think I've ever unlocked those two myself but I'd found the unlock message a few years ago. My translation is a little off due to the space I had to work with for text so I've included the original Japanese and Google Translate versions.
Giant Baba
~ 司馬 降臨 ~
社長、大変です! あの御方が…我が団体の危機を救うために、御大ことグレート司馬先生がリングに戻ることを決断なされました!
~ Shima descending ~
The president, it is serious! That person ... In order to save the crisis of our group, Mr. Great Shima was decided to return to the ring!
My feeling was you'd have to play as All Japan badly to unlock Baba.
Jumbo Tsuruta
~ 助け舟 ~
『#P0に就職します!』我が団体の手助けがしたいと、トミー・ボンバー選手が現役復帰を表明して下さいました!
~ A Help Boat ~
"I get a job at # P0! "We want Tommy Bomber player to return to active service if we want to help our group!
#P0 is a variable used to represent the promotion you're playing as. I think Jumbo Tsuruta is linked to Noah rather than AJPW like you'd expect. I don't know what the criteria would be, but my theory for this is:
1. When you use the cheat code to unlock all wrestlers in a non-patched version of the game, Jumbo Tsuruta is in the Pro Wrestling Noah roster. 2. The message title "A Help Boat" hints to the ark for Pro Wrestling Noah. 3. Although he was very loyal to Baba he was also close with Misawa. Tsuruta was one of his key trainers, rivals and a close friend (Misawa went to the airport with Jumbo when he immigrated to the US in 1999) 4. From what I've worked out from poorly-translated interviews and news articles, after his death Jumbo Tsuruta's wife stated that she supported Misawa's move to open Noah and condemned Motoko Baba for the way she was overpowering him with control of All Japan (Originally, she was upset Misawa would rip All Japan apart, this changed once she heard the full story).
I'm in the process of playing a save without using the unlock code in the hope I will figure out how to unlock everyone but to answer your question, no.

You, as always, are super helpful when it comes to this game. Appreciate it.
Now I have to try to lose at MOR after playing it since launch and rediscovering it every few years. Let's see how this goes.

I am starting my journey into Unlocking Giant Baba and Jumbo Tsutra in Final Fire Pro. The secret must be discovered!!! I shall post my updates here. I've just played through an MOR as OLIVE trying to play as terribly as I could and still survive in the hope of unlocking Baba. It was actually quite interesting. I basically forced the wrestlers into MMA style matches which bombed and hired the worst wrestlers I could find whilst keeping afloat financially. I now know how Inoki must have felt trying to push Inokism. I completed 4 years and ended in last place and.....No Baba. Watching me destroy his federation wasn't enough to tempt him out of retirement. My next playthrough will be to try and get a VS Event with Noah or NJPW and lose it. I've got a feeling this might work. The search continues....

Day 2. I smash it as OJP flying to the number 1 spot and in my third year manage to get both Noah and NJPW with a good relationship. I challenge NJPW they accept I load up on jobbers to set against them, lose each match and No Baba! I thought losing against his arch rival Inokis fed would tempt him out. No. I challenge again lose for second time, dropping the title to New Japan and...still nothing. OK maybe Noah. Repeat. Nothing. What crisis can tempt him out? What dark arts must I employ to summon the Giant Baba?
