In The Aftermath of Two Nights In Tokyo #3: Free For All, BDW returns to take on the world~!
The Story So Far..
The Story So Far..
BDW Wrestling. A small time promotion quietly started in 2010. What began as a farce soon stumbled out of the backyard and into the bingo hall, and after 7 long years, BDW finally got its big break. Soon after a successful few tours, the promotion once again struggled to gain footing, only returning to run occasional supercards... Until two men violently dragged it out of the shadows. The light and the dark. The "Cruel Angel" Hiko Sojirou and the man with a "Heart of Madness", Akira Shinomori.
Hiko Sojirou was a consistent performer on the BDW roster, bouncing between various roles. He'd learned a lot in his travels over the course of his 4 year career, and had come off of a notable performance at the FPWA March Madness 2017 tournament. However, his BDW career wasn't great despite his skills, he had underperformed significantly in the SHTCW:a World Cup, and assumed a heel gimmick teaming with Chuckles and Violent Jack. After that partnership evaporated, he floundered until the shocking arrival of a man from his past. A man whom he had trained alongside. A man who chose to stay and dominate in Japan instead of wandering the world, finding opponents in all corners of the globe. The man whose Path of Rage had thought to have ended, but in reality, was just beginning. Akira Shinomori.
Shinomori debuted as a mystery opponent at BDW: JUST ANOTHER NIGHT (2/28/18), where he provoked Hiko, in an attempt to bring out the strong style spirit of violence that had slowly faded away as Hiko's time in the dojo was further and further behind him. Hiko failed to keep up, taking a loss, but there was hope for him yet.
3/25/2018 marked the second time Hiko would face Shinomori in BDW. Two Nights in Tokyo #2. A match to crown the new BDW Champion, after a long period of the title's inactivity. This was Hiko's moment to prove himself, or forever be doomed to stand in the shadow of the man he trained alongside. Hiko initially showed his strength in the early stages of the match. He would finally overcome his biggest obstacle, it had seemed. But alas, Shinomori's burning fighting spirit and intense desire to force Hiko to become his equal once more consumed him. Hiko, considered by many to be one of the faces of BDW, had fallen against his greatest rival for the second and seemingly last time.
However, Shinomori's life wasn't a cakewalk after defeating his rival once and for all. At the 5/10/18 show, he lost his BDW Championship to former Best of the Super Juniors, Mascara Avispa, after Avispa had won a Rumble for the chance to face him. This began Shinomori's ultimate declaration of war against BDW. His pride was damaged, and thus, his fighting spirit burned ever brighter.
The Resurrection Tour began. A name that grew to carry multiple meanings. Not only was it the supposed resurrection of BDW as a consistent producer of events, but also the re-emergence of several former high profile competitors, as the World Championship Contendership picture resulted in several violent battles. Shinomori kicked his quest for a shot at the title off by knocking out one of Phoenix Rising's best, Lance Marshall, with a devastating powerbomb. The violence on display in that match would not be equaled until the next Contendership bout, which saw the "Stray Dog" Victor Kai against the ever struggling Hiko Sojirou. Hiko was methodically destroyed by Kai's superior striking power and resillience. Victor Kai moved onto the finals, but Hiko may never be in the spotlight again.
Kai vs Shinomori was quick and to the point. Kai wanted to face Avispa, but merely out of sport, out of his natural enjoyment of the art of fighting. Shinomori on the other hand didn't want to fight Avispa, he NEEDED to fight Avispa to repair his shattered pride. This was reflected in his match with Kai. Kai hit hard. Shinomori hit harder. Kai didn't even get the chance to throw out everything he had before Shinomori had him down for the 1-2-3.
The most important moment of Shinomori's career was fast approaching. The championship rematch against Mascara Avispa. Shinomori was in his home turf, Tokyo, Japan, for the third Two Nights in Tokyo event. No one could've predicted what took place on that night. They had kept a fairly even pace, until Shinomori pulled a shocking upset. In less than 9 minutes, Shinomori had knocked Avispa out with his signature submission, violently taking back his Championship and marking his status as THE ace of BDW, while at the same time, becoming public enemy number 1.
In the aftermath of this historic event, where BDW stands is unclear. Shinomori may very well rule the promotion for years to come. Will Hiko overcome his inadequacy in the face of his rival? Will Victor Kai, knowing now that a serious threat stands before him, bring his A-game like never before? Will a new challenger rise above the ranks and prove himself as a definite threat in the coming weeks, as the Contendership picture is decided once again? Anything can happen in this mad world. The history of BDW has come to a crossroads. But in this turbulant time, one thing is for sure. The destiny of BDW's finest will be determined once and for all.
