Hi everybody,
This is probably a long shot, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm running FPWW on Steam on my Macbook Air through WINE. It works very well, thankfully. I'd love to install the patcher and do some modding, but... I don't know if it's actually going to work. I know where to put the DLL files and everything, but when I get to the point where I try to run the Patcher through WINE, it doesn't do anything.
Anybody have any insight into this? It's okay if it won't work, I was just hoping I could get it to work.
Thanks!

I have FPW working with mods on Arch Linux. I posted a linux guide in the "Guide" section of the forum. I havent had a chance to try a Mac install yet. If the patcher exe isnt doing anything, make sure the exe file is actually executable. Right click it and check it's permissions. If it cant execute it won't do anything. Which is probably your problem.
Also check and double check you have all files in the right folders. If the exe isn't in the root of the FPW steam install folder it won't do anything either.
If you get it working or have more error messages please post to help out the other Mac users.

So maybe there's hope here, since Mac is Linux-based anyway. I'm not very good at reading the output from WINE yet, so it's hard for me to pinpoint the error messages exactly. So here's the output when I try to open the patcher with WINE in Terminal: pastebin.com/sxCG1uRt

Bueller? Anyone?
I posted this in Reddit too, but no dice there either. I actually have people on Reddit asking if I have this figured out because they're also running it on Mac in WINE and want to use the mods. Even if it's a "it can't be done", I'd love it if someone could look at the Pastebin I posted to see if there's a way around these errors. Thanks!

You need to find your Mike_dg folder (it's usually in %appdata%\..\Local\ on windows...) and delete it. Basically one of your patcher configuration xmls got mangled somehow.

Thanks so much for jumping in, Carlzilla! I know you're not a big fan of tech support, so I understand if you just say "eh, it's not going to work". I was actually looking in that folder when I scanned the error messages that Terminal was kicking out, but I wasn't really sure what I was looking at. I did delete the folder, and running the patcher automatically regenerated the folder as expected with one config file in it, but the same error message is coming up, now referring to that one config file in the folder. So here's the Pastebin of the most recent error: pastebin.com/jxMAUbaRAnd then here's the Pastebin of the XML config file in the folder (which would be c:/blahblahblah/Application Data/Mike Dg/mscorlibXXXXX/user.config): pastebin.com/LHaScVHkAny and all input is appreciated greatly. Again, if you guys say it can't be done, I'll get over it. But I'm hopeful that there's just a tweak I need to make with my WINE setup or something to make this happen, and I figure it can't hurt to ask. Cheers!

I'll just bump this one last time. If it's a "Won't work", then it's a "Won't work". Just hoping that maybe this one just slipped behind the virtual filing cabinet. *crossing fingers*

Hello tmeitner.
Just to check, do you have wine-mono installed? It may or may not be relevant to your situation, but that was one of the hurdles that needed to be overcome to run mods within a Linux environment.

Just to update, I sold my MacBook Air, bought a Chromebook, put Linux on it via Crouton, and am now modding away!

For what it is worth, I can report that version 2.0 works well with Steam Proton.
