Which special skills you you guys not use on edits? Why not?

I'm admittedly a horrendous overuser of special skills - I give most edits one - but the skill I really have an issue with is hardbody. Sometimes it seems like it can turn a scrub ass wrestler into an unpinnable behemoth. I pretty much only give hardbody out when I want an edit to have a really long title reign.

I don't really use any of the ones that change the likelihood of a critical (Overturn, Focus, Adaptability). I also tend to avoid Hardbody unless it's someone who's meant to be an absolute tank.

Guts and Hardbody are the ones I try to avoid using since they're extremely strong and can really drag a match on if you don't want them to.
I don't use Start Dash very often unless the edit is struggling to output damage early on. If that's the case, there's something else at play making things not work as they should.
I use Stardom and Superstar a lot. I like my edits to give a sense of "playing to the crowd" and "feeding off the crowd's energy" before they hit a big move.
I use Reborn on edits that deserve it. This is reserved for the toughest of the tough; The super-heroic Babyface comeback types.
The rest I use as I see fit.

Is it true that Focus and Adapt don't work for actual finishers if Critical type is finisher? If so, then that sucks.

Finisher is my most common, for finishers to have a real OOMPH when they hit.
I tend to usually stray away from abilities that wreak havoc on parameters like Strikeback, Start Dash, etc....

Finisher is extremely powerful as it should be. Stardom kinda feels like a waste for me. It isn't as strong as i expected though i still use it. For Critical type i give all edits finisher. I guess that makes focus and adapt useless for me.

I said on some of the older boards that I call Reborn "Backstage Clout" because I put it on guys who don't do jobs often. But to get it in my list, you have to be basically at LEAST a 10-time World Champion as well as owner of the promotion, married to the owner's daughter, known for kicking out of so many finishers that it became a meme, or have been thrown off a 20-foot cage and got up to continue the match.
You can probably guess then who is on that short list.

Lol. Poor Hunter. I actually like the guts skill. Im trying to avoid reborn but i would use do or die for someone like a Hogan. The thing i like about guts is that submissions are unpredictable. I almost scrapped all skills at one point and was ready to only use guts for top stars.

If I want a huge main event with two edits who have gradually gotten used to each other in the ring or are known for resiliency, Reborn reflects how it takes that 1 extra move (like a TD'91 or Burning Hammer) to finally win. I'll also use it if FPW refuses to allow an edit to win after multiple sims when I have them booked to win!

I've personally experimented on the skills of Hardbody, Reborn and Second Wind.
I really haven't settled on any skills thematically yet because I haven't begun the process of crafting a promotion yet. However, back in the FPR days I generally would leave finisher as a skill for a good portion of the roster. Tag Teams, Low Card... maybe even some Mid Card. Hardcore usually were given the blood bonus. However Upper Mid Card might be given something that would provide some extra toughness to the edits, where as the Main Event caliber talent would probably be in possession of a double skill, if not triple.

My most used are Superstar and Finisher.
You have to be careful with Superstar though, it can be very powerful on edits that sequence taunts into potential match enders.... especially if they spam taunts xD

I always try to make the skills and parameters such that the results in the ring look somewhat similar to what happened on the actual shows, and then just let it play out so I can watch like a fan. My "American Blue Blood" Hunter Hearst Helmsley is basically the same as "Triple H," except he doesn't have Reborn and his Rough ratings are lower. You probably could use Reborn

During FPR I pretty much avoided all Skills, but in World all my edits have one. The only edits that don't are my Rookies. Finisher is my bread-and-butter but it's a case by cases basis. It takes the edit's inspiration or a specific idea to sway me away from Finisher. My top heel and "Boss" type edit, Kurrupt, has Warrior. He's heavily based on Bane from the DC Universe and I feel it fits his personality perfectly. Same with another one of my edits, Jandi Lei. She's inspired by Revy from the Black Lagoon manga/anime and because of that she runs Guts.

I could probably count on one hand the number of guys I've given any specific special skill other than One-Hit Finisher. I definitely view them as rare things meant to set a guy apart from everyone else. Even for Finisher, by far my most commonly used, I go case-by-case - am I genuinely surprised when someone kicks out of this guy's finisher? Or, is their finisher a relatively weak move in Firepro and needs all the help it can get? If the answer isn't yes to at least one of those questions, by no means is that skill a shoe-in. All the other skills I use way more rarely than that - mostly on guys who are main eventers at least somewhere. The default wrestler setups for the actual wrestlers in prior games is a good baseline - by no means do all or most of the rank-and-file use special skills, critical abilities, etc. That info can be found here: www.criticalclub.com/post/294/thread
