Well, I'm guessing this update means it won't be on sale for five dollars any time soon. I wanted to try the game out, but after hearing all the negative stuff about it no way in hell was I paying the full 60 or 80.

It's half off right now. It's absolutely worth 30 bucks.

Finally got the 9 gig patch downloaded and then I see they have the 3.5gig bug fix patch up. Then I see Rising Storm 2 has an almost 7gig patch and a handful of my other Steam games had updates between 300 and 900megs to be downloaded. It took all Friday and Friday night but I finally have everything updated.

If anyone is playing on Steam tomorrow afternoon (between 4pm EDT and 12amEDT) let me know. I've been playing around with it for the last few hours and wouldn't mind trying some multiplayer.

Finally started No Man's Sky (PS4). Originally tried permadeath mode but not recommended for first timers as I died within minutes on each try. Spent all afternoon getting my ship fixed up. It's a pretty sweet feeling when you get that first lift off and head out of orbit to the space station.

Yeah, there's lots of cool "firsts" in NMS.

I had to delete my original save as it kept crashing....but kinda glad I did as I’m enjoying it a lot more going through it all over again

I finally have a hovel built on a snow planet I've currently adopted as a base. Took me forever to build because I kept getting hit by blizzards and had to run and hide in my ship.

Survival Mode is the most accurate description for that mode in this game. So much goes into just trying to... survive. It's great. I just survived my starting snow planet and can take off for the first time, but gonna hang back and collect some reserves for crucial materials, as well as some of these "extremely rare" ancient cave pearls which are worth a pretty penny.
Woops, spoke too soon. Ended up sticking around to build a base. I didn't think I'd care or like that aspect too much, but I just spent like three hours finding just the right place and just the right way to make my first little humble cave-shack.
This is the perfect inventory management game. And since I turn every other game I play into one of those anyway, this really scratches that innate itch for me.

Good shit. Survival mode + permadeath on top of all the other content and QoL stuff has made this came far more compelling vs original release. Wondy's spot on about the super tight inventory management, it's a huge part of the survival experience.
Highlight of my playing was when I found a crashed ship, mucked around with the 'Transfer' option thinking I could take stuff off it, and ended up dumping everything on my old ship into the video game nether. Lovely thing is, my old ship bugged, and I couldn't transfer back to it. I reloaded and it promptly vanished.
So i tightened up my space belt, laid down a base, and started the grind to fix up my new, busted-ass ship. It took me about 6 hours over two days (acid rain planet with *very* frequent storms), but I eventually got her up and running again. It's a pretty solid ship despite all the null modules that'll cost me half a planet's worth of copper to repair, but the whole 'legit space stranded on permadeath mode' experience was awesome.
