CHAMPION AND AWARDS
The 21-1 Award - Biggest Upset
DEMON over Union Jack
Despite some other surprises in the tournament, it was clear that a Final 4 participant from last year in Union Jack losing in the first round was surprising.
Previous Winners:
2017 - Higher Night over Doc Overdose
Little Mac Award - Lowest Seed Advancing the Farthest
Hiko Sojirou
Even with the experience gained from last year's tournament, the league seeding was not kind to Hiko as he ranked 27th out of 32 edits. Despite this, he overcame the odds to make it to the Final 4 before falling to eventual champion Ajax.
Previous Winners:
2017 - The Union Jack
Burning Hammer Award - Most Devastating Finisher
Ajax's Corner To Center Spear
I believe this may be Ajax's favorite move for sure. He may hit you with 10-20 normal Irish whip spears beforehand, but when Ajax revved up in the corner, you kind of knew the final Spear was going to end it. It did well as he won 3 of his 5 matches with it.
Previous Winners:
2017 - Tiny's Bodybreaker (Torturerack)
Fit Finlay Award - Best Brawl
Chin Wonton vs. La Calavera
Sometimes, it takes an all-out effort with weapons and environment to get a W. While no one really demonstrated outside fighting with weapons quite like Chin Wonton, La Calavera did not back down and brought the fight back to him before sneaking a flash pin win.
Previous Winners:
2017 - Glutton Butcher vs. Phoenix Nitro
Fighting Irish Award - Best Overall Match
Tiger Sword vs. Crusher Couger
There were countless back and forth slugfests through the tourney. Ogden Meadows and his matches with Lance Marshall and Justin Maverick could have easily been counted here. Persona bias aside, I think the viewers of the streams would agree that this match not only was great, but surprised several who had concerns about it going in. Despite the 98% rating, it's the clear choice for the award.
Previous Winners:
2017 - Heroic Emu vs. Alastair Anarion
CHAMPION
Previous Winners:
2017 - Tiny (Skulltrauma)
2016 - Mistress Bedlam (Level)
Previous Runners-Up:
2017 - Crusher Couger (Crusher Couger)
2016 - Mick Garland (tigermuppetcut)
