The Combination Tag Game Music CD was released in 1989 alongside the actual game. Contrary to popular belief, the soundtrack
is not a rip of the in-game music. Instead, each of the 10 tracks feature brand new arrangements composed by Fire Pro sound
producer Chappy Hashimoto.
The soundtrack cover with Japanese obi strip.
At first glance, the Audio CD looks nearly-identical to Combination Tag's game. Save for the Columbia
logo in the top right corner.
Like the game itself, the Combination Tag Audio CD features artwork created by long-time Fire Pro staff
member CHACHAMARU. You can see CHACHA's signature underneath Antonio Inoki.
In the background, there is also an illustration of Riki Choshu applying a Lariat to an unknown opponent.
The obi strip advertises that this compilation is indeed 'game music', and that the package includes "three
original character seals (stickers)".
Since Combination Tag had a large emphasis on tag team action, the included stickers are based on the three
most powerful regular tag teams in the game. (Left to right):
- King Fighters: Musashi & Saeba (Antonio Inoki & Akira Maeda).
- Urban Blasters: Knight & Iron (The Road Warriors Hawk & Animal).
- Violence Monsters: Bison & Bull (Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody).
Inside of the inserts include track listings, character selection screenshots, and a message from Chappy Hashimoto himself.
Chappy's message roughly translates as:
"On recording>
CHAPPY HASHIMOTO
The record is finally out. It's a memorable piece for both myself and humanity. Can I make it an heirloom?
Powerful and energetic wrestlers. After all, they Goes well with hard rock. The BGM during the game has
a heavy feel overall. I'm sure these arranged songs will end up like that too.
It should be. (Actually, I haven't heard it yet.) You'll definitely get excited while listening to it. Anyone who owns
``Fire Pro Wrestling'' will want to play it right away. Gang, please listen carefully to the team's songs.Isn't it fun
to compare them?"
Booklet back.
Opened jewel case, booklet, inserts and stickers.
Disc design. This album was the only Fire Pro soundtrack released under the Nippon Columbia record label.
Tracklisting on back of jewel case.
Includes Engrish misspellings.
