Tag Team Pro-Wrestling
Developer: NAMCO
Year: 1986
Pages: 13
Up next is a complete scan of the original Tag Team Pro-Wrestling manual for the Nintendo Famicom.
Front and back cover. Features Namco's corporate information on the back.
Page 0 - 1: Table of contents, brief intro and handling of the game cartridge.
Pages 2 - 3: match overview from inside and outside the ring, along with button configuration while using the Famicom controller.
Page 4 - 5: more gameplay overview and a summary of the tag teams 'Ricky Fighters' & 'Strongbad'.
Page 6 - 7: gameplay summary continues with topics such as getting a game over, 2 player co-op play and ranking matches.
According to the ranking chart, there are five Championship ranking titles. The titles are:
JPN CHAMP (Japan Champion) - 3 consecutive wins.
ERP CHAMP (European Champion) - 8 consecutive wins.
USA CHAMP (American Champion) - 15 wins.
WORLD CHAMP (World Champion) - 25 wins.
SUPER CHAMP (Super Champion) - 35 wins.
Page 7 also includes illustrations for both tag teams. The Ricky Fighters are based on real-life Wrestlers Riki Choshu and Super
Strong Machine, while the Strongbad tag team is based on The Road Warriors and Mil Mascaras.
Pages 8 to 9 serve as a move index; complete with illustrations of each technique. The moves on page 8 are:
Bodyslam, Dropkick, Body Attack, Backdrop,
Neck Hanging (tree), Backbreaker (Canadian Backbreaker), Flying Headbutt, Post Smash.
Page 9 features an index of finishing moves along with the Wrestlers who use them. These techniques are listed as:
Sasori-gatame (Sharpshooter) - used by Ricky.
Western Lariat - used by Warrior.
Brainbuster - used by Ultra Machine.
Enzuigiri - used by Mascross.
What's interesting is that page 9 also lists other Wrestlers besides each player's finisher. I'm guessing each character
has a specific weakness. For example, Ricky has a weakness to Warrior's Western Lariat during matches.
As one of the very first Wrestling games, this could very well be the earliest form of Wrestling Logic available in a Wrasslin'
game.
Pages 10 and 11 are dedicated to all of the techniques in Tag Team Pro-Wrestling.
Page 10 starts with both tag teams listing each tag member, while page 11 lists each player's specific moves.
