Hello all, if you are thinking of picking up AEW Fight Forever and would like to see a comparison between all the versions and example of gameplay examples, check out our video! www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2SvGek-WQAIt is no Fire Pro and I wouldn't even recommend it over 2K23 personally. However, it is another wrestling game available to play and that is always a good thing!

Really haven't had much time to delve into it over the holiday weekend, but it's got a lot of little details that I really appreciate.
Chain wrestling is fantastic. One of the main reasons I didn't pick up 2K23 was the lack of chain wrestling. I'm sick of that series removing features. At least keep them in and make a toggle to turn them off and on.
Also appreciate the picture in picture camera during Royal Rumble entrances. I know it's not called Royal Rumble but I'm still going to call it that. I do hope we see the entrants bumped up to 6 or even 8 like in the 2K games. No reason they can't do this is they plan on supporting that 30 player stadium brawl mode in the future.
Being able to carry multiple titles to the ring is always appreciated.
Probably the best barbed wire exploding ring death matches in any game right now, even moreso than Fire Pro. Plenty of interactivity with the ring. When the edit mode expands and we can make decent Hayabusa and Onita CAW's it should be pretty sweet.
I will never get tired of the thumb tacks selling and if the crowd starts a chant even better.
Wrestlers talking in the ring is cool.
Post match handshakes.
JR's occasional commentary sounds like he's zonked out on meds, which is a possibility since he's been going through a medical thing for a while now.
Mini games still not my thing. Not really digging some of the sillier aspects of the game like the skateboard either. But I just don't use it so it's not like it's a problem if other people want to.

That’s a pretty solid summary - I agree with everything Nth said. I know I spend most of my time in Fire Pro in the creative suite, and that’s one area that is severely lacking so far in Fight Forever. There’s a lot of room for growth there, but if you take time to get a created wrestler through Road to Elite, the active and passive skills you can purchase are pretty satisfying in the ring. The gimmick matches could use 3- and 4-person varieties, even if the game doesn’t eventually get to 6 or 8 wrestlers in the ring. RTE does have some triple threat and fatal four way gimmick matches, plus handicap and gauntlet matches that aren’t possible in exhibition right now. The gameplay is reminiscent enough of No Mercy to be nostalgic with a lot of the expected improvements upon an old engine. It’s not going to be for everyone, but I’m really digging it so far, especially local multiplayer with my kids.

From a recent screenshot on Steam, I noticed the Road Warrior's spiked shoulder pads in the creation suite. So, I guess there's several nods to Wrestlers not in-game, correct?

Yes, you'll find a lot of little parts you'll recognize from other wrestlers. Stone Cold's leg braces are in there as well for example. CAW is still super limited in appearance options though. Not even a lot of real wrestlers I would bother making until they start adding some more CAW content.

If you’re looking to get into Fight Forever to make CAWs, now isn’t the time. You can’t really make an accurate-enough looking version of anyone right now with the options we have. That’s not a dig at the graphics at all, there are very few options in pretty much every category. For example, there are something like 7 male faces, which are pretty much just options for making wrestlers of different races. You can recolor the skin with some preset colors like in the old N64 games, but if you’re looking to make Japanese wrestlers, you don’t have multiple faces to start with. Facial hair is also severely limited, so we don’t have options to cover up those base faces. Models from other games have already been imported via modding, so there’s always that as an option. The community manager has been talking about modding options on the official discord, and they’re supposedly going to be adding a lot more to the creative suite. Even with all that, Fight Forever is never going to be on Fire Pro’s level for creative stuff. Playing solo on Elite difficulty can be fun - the pace feels about right there. The best replay value to me is like the old days, couch multiplayer. Grabbing 4 controllers and having chaotic battle royals and fatal four ways has been cool.

Just finished my first playthrough on Road to Elite with Bryan Danielson. It was a bit of a mixed bag, my playthrough consisted of maybe 75%+ of non singles matches (other than Dark/Rampage) which was a bit of a disappointment for me. Your tag AI isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, if you pin on your corner of the ring it blocks your partner from keeping the other opponent busy during the pin. Most of the time they would walk/stutter by the pin unable to get to the other side of the ring.
I also chose the wrong wrestler for that gameplay. His initial weak strike is slow with short range, cattle mutilation was pretty useless (even when focusing on submission holds, it seemed nerfed). So, the yes kick signature is what I relied on as a "finisher/special" and it worked out pretty well... except for not being able to stop the animation to break a pin in multi-man matches. The animation is so long that a wrestler I threw on the outside of the ring just before hitting my signature on the next opponent recovered, got in the ring and the 3 count on the other wrestler before the animation stopped.
Overall it was good, would not call it memorable. No spoilers, but I did like the second to last match (er... in the last match?). That was actually pretty entertaining and not a mind blowing surprise but a felt like a good nod to other video games. Going to do a playthrough with a CAW next and see how it plays out.

I'm loving AEW:FF I almost didn't buy it because of the reviews, and the early footage looked bad.
I'm glad I caved in and got the PS5 version. I've been playing the hell out of it, it definitely is a strong AKI family member.
Looks and plays so much better than it came across in the vids. Like most video games some moves look better than other, but some are realllly hard hitting looking.
There are some really nice touches that this does better than anything else (homing in on running strikes and dives, you rarely go silly looking misses).
I'm still discovering and trying to workout some of the more hidden elements of the system.
So I'm verrrrry pleasantly surprised by this game!

AEW getting set to release a season 2 update. I still want a modifier to have long matches. I know there is a mod for it on PC but I'm not buying the game again on another platform like I did with Fire Pro and will with Ultra Pro Wrestling.
