So...that's a lot.
And I in fact have a response to that "a lot", which took me quite a bit of time to write, and you should know that I had to take a very deep inhale and exhale before deciding to in fact press the Create Post button to reply.
And only a bit of that "a lot" actually involved the Battlefront Championship, so everything else that isn't that got spoilered for length.
*AHEM*
I typed this all out on the fly, so I apologize in advance if any addressing of the
important points sounds less than diplomatic.
Now, to start, I do feel I should point out a couple things:
1 - I didn't create the Battlefront Championship, and the original stipulation WAS the Royale Attrition match. If I'd created it, it would've much more simply been a battle royale belt.
2 - That being said, the only belts I
did create myself for the fed were the Cruiserweight belt, and attempting to reboot the Joshivision and FPCMMA belts into new Women's and Dodekagon belts.
-- Related to that, as Zealot was the one who'd originally wrote the FPCMMA rules back on Fire Pro Club (I did recently find a copy of the old FPC post that I'd saved, but I guess it's too little too late), and then tried to run Hybrid S-1 here himself while Brick was running HONOO, none of any issues that arose from those were my responsibility, though I hoped they would've been successful and long-running things and I'd hoped they'd be open to crossing over their S-1 and SWA things with DODEKAGON's Gruesome stuff. Only one guy did, and his edit is the reigning DODEKAGON Champion.
3 - I've never at any point said that I would be or wanted to be "the boss" (I could just literally do that for my own fed and post it in the e-fed section), and from the very first show I ran (ARENA Rising 2018), I did make it clear very often that I was hoping other people would want to join in and also do events and special stuff in an official capacity.
Some people did, some people even made an effort to do long-running stuff for the Community (previously mentioned Hybrid and HONOO, Kaotic's PWR, Lanky's Lankyverse, BFX doing CERBERUS, NSL continuing doing Star Of The Jar, and even Will's SHTCW open-signup belts).
So if I can specifically address each of you now...
Dan:
Thinking on it, I think you're absolutely right that in the events I run, I should focus on much fewer belts and "throw all my weight behind it" as you so well put it. Especially if I'm still so dead-set on keeping at least the stuff I'm doing afloat.
Concerning the Internet Championship itself specifically, since KingRadical doesn't seem active enough anymore to "preside" over it and I've been the only one booking it for a while (which in my defense is because people weren't reserving it for a while), I was intending on (shock of all shocks) doing a reboot at the Rising event with a refreshed edition (which admittedly doesn't help the whole "FM just does what FM wants" thing) under a completely new open-challenge belt, holding invitationals alongside the free agent matches I've mainly been doing with it, and not just seeing Hummer Holt of Mordecai's group Kokushi-Musou winning every single defense for several matches. Whether the rebooted version succeeds or not is entirely up to whether people decide they want their edits to fight for it or not, and if it doesn't have legs enough for Community involvement, at least the Internet Title will still probably be here, it just won't be booked by me anymore for events after April 30th.
World Championship - I do think the World Championship still has value here (15 years is too much history to just abandon) and should still be something worth fighting for, and I really hope more people actually decide they want to book it for their own Community events.
Cruiserweight and Women's Championships - I still believe in these 2 belts, which is why I wanted to create and reboot them (respectively), but since interest in both did admittedly drop a fair amount of time ago, I'll do free agent matches and sign-up invitationals, because I do think seeing showcases of the Junior-specific and Women-specific edits made by the Community are something worth doing regularly.
For the ANARCHY Championship, I have always thought and still do think BFX should be the main guy who runs it, and whenever he holds events, that's when it'll be put on the line, regardless of how frequent/infrequent that may be, I'll be completely hands-off on booking for this one, though I hope it still sees activity. Deathmatches are fun. :)
Dawnbreaker:
Firstly, WOW, there is SO MUCH to unpack in your blatant unadulterated hatepost, that to address all of it beyond pointing out how almost each thing is wrong would need an entire separate thread.
Like, holy fuck, your hate-boner is showing 100%. And also, SO MUCH of it happens to be factually wrong, and almost all of it is completely off-topic from the actual subject of this thread.
I am politely requesting that you edit your post and put literally all the non-Battlefront-related bullshit into a spoiler.
For example, I'm spoilering this first part for length and for not being 100% relevant to the Battlefront Championship:
I do, that's why I posted this thread/poll in the first place. And also to see if other people who aren't you (and clearly you don't, which is why you spent 2 whole-ass paragraphs shitting on me and the entire concept of championships around here) also give a shit.
To start, I think it bears pointing out
VERY IMPORTANTLY that my first show, the first Rising in 2018, did in fact feature like more than 90% sign-up from the Community who was active at the time, and there were SO MANY sign-ups that it was big enough to have a pre-show, and the entire playlist was a legit 6 hours of straight-up content featuring the community.
And probably like half the people signed up for the show were NEW members!
If YOU cared at all about the community, you'd do actually do something that isn't more than just bitching and moaning incorrectly and nearly incoherently like a goddamn Fox News anchor about the way I do things for my particular section of it.
And also, I recall exactly ZERO people who actually had World during Early Access who said "oh hey, I can do something for the community with this".
Btw, Hana Brightly fought Senator's edit Felix Santana Jr. FOR the Internet Championship in the
MAIN EVENT of the pre-show.
You seem to be unable to remember a LOT of things that happened around here that you weren't involved in.
Also, at the first Rising, Firehawk was in the
Grand-Prix Championship Contendership match, (Grand-Prix because he was brand new at the time), in the MAIN SHOW; the show IS on YouTube and it can just be checked, you know. He AND THREE OTHER OF HIS EDITS were in the Battlefront Championship match the year after and Firehawk Sentarl himself WON the belt in that match.
Goldfish memories aren't an excuse when the events can just simply be looked up to remind you.
Please stop just outright discounting the sheer amount of involvement there actually was from everybody when and after that first Rising took place, and get your revisionist history garbage out of here.
You did not, because you literally pulled ALL your edits (including and especially Emu) out of all C!C community fed event involvement
BEFORE I even held my first show.
Neither Emu nor ANY of your other edits have been booked on literally any show I'VE held in the 4 years I've been holding shows, SPECIFICALLY according to your own request, which even back then, you worded very rudely.
Whether your edits were involved in other people's events or not the past 4-5 years, that's literally on you to remember, not me.
The part I italicized literally happened the opposite way to how you said it.
The only continuations of FPCPP things that were left unsettled were the Axl Evermore/Wonderland match, the Tag Title match between LoJ/Elite, and the World Title match between Riggs & Zealot. Everything else that was there was for new stories and matches.
AND HEY, DO YOU REMEMBER WHO
ORIGINALLY PITCHED REBOOTING AND REBRANDING
IN THE FIRST PLACE WHEN WE SWITCHED FROM FPC TO ARENA???
ESPECIALLY WHEN SWORD
GOT FUCKING ARRESTED AND WE NEEDED TO REBRAND
ANYWAY??
(Vince "It's ME Austin" gif goes here)
Nobody.
Because to the best of my memory there weren't any events held in FPCPP where Riggs and NSL even interacted with each other; plus the entire crux of Riggs becoming FPCPP World Champion was him and the Prophets of Doom attacking previous champion Sword (oh hey, the booker made himself champion, why don't you bitch at HIM about it on a federally-monitored collect call?) for a really long time in events, events held by bookers much more opaque than myself in how they booked the shows, until Riggs & Sword had an actual title match that Riggs won.
Zealot was the number one contender before the FPC
AND WARENA forum got fucked over and the fed going dormant prior to World coming out, and nothing happened
because nobody stepped up to book and record FPCPP shows after everybody previously booking the shows, including the runner at the time Sword, were no longer able to do so with any regularity. (Sword especially,
because he got fucking arrested and exiled)
To his credit, BlackOmen worked his ass off doing the shows when he was the pencil and Revenge was an absolute banger of an event.NSL became the #1 Contender to the belt (and then WON it at Rising 2019) because he wanted to be in the title picture, asked me to put him in the title picture, and I put him into the title picture and booked him in matches, and then he won matches at shows
I ran, and nobody else was stepping up to do.
THIS SHIT HAS ALREADY BEEN ADDRESSED BEFORE. YOU CAN READ THE FUCKING POSTS.When I started running shows, Sy wanted NSL in the title picture, so I put him there. It was literally just that simple, and literally anybody else who wanted to be in the title picture said so and I put them there in the shows I ran. NSL won the contendership match and then won the title, and anybody else who was booked could've easily done so if that's the way the match went (I pride myself on making sure the matches I sim and record don't have a winner picked)
It's still that way today, and ideally it's not going to stop, whether I'm running shows or somebody else decides to.
You made that crystal clear 4 years ago before I even held MY first event for the community.
Meanwhile, also: BITCH GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE WITH YOUR "WOE IS ME" BULLSHIT WHEN
YOU'RE LITERALLY ONE OF THE PEOPLE HERE WHO'VE BEEN A COMPLETE SHITBIRD TO
ME OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS WHEN ALL
I WANTED TO DO WAS HELP OTHERS.
And also the amount of bullshit
I get over how I design
MY edits too. You're not fucking special in that regard, and none of that was in anything I ran or controlled, so literally none of that is or was my problem.
And even RIGHT IN YOUR VERY POST, YOU are completely unironically being a fucking asshole to ME while complaining about other people being assholes to you.
I would also like to point out that I would've been totally accommodating for you and your edits if you'd literally said anything other than outright starting off with "don't book my edits for shows" without even so much as a peep at the time or even up until just now as to why.
This thread about trying to gin up new activity for a championship that hasn't been getting much focus is absolutely positively 100% NOT the place for you to very rudely vent your years-old frustrations with OTHER people, and quite frankly, you should actually be ashamed of yourself for that.
*AHEM*
ANYWAY...
That part, I can't actually control unless I just straight-up start my own brand-new from-scratch community fed with blackjack and hookers. Sorry, sincerely.
I don't run this site, I didn't run Arena, I didn't run Fire Pro Club, I don't run the Discord, I don't run any of the Training/Testing Dojos, and I wasn't the one who made the original guidelines, so unfortunately, I literally can't actually do anything about any of that for you in my own capacity of any things I do involving the fed. Sorry again, also sincerely.
Now I'm going to address the two actually important and relevant parts of your what-amounts-to word vomit.
Battlefront Championship - You're 100% right that it doesn't mean anything to anyone. That's WHY I wanted to try and rehab it into being the 2nd-tier belt for the fed, BECAUSE it wasn't being defended more than once or twice. And instead of going "why the fuck are you talking about a belt that only got defended a few times" (I'm talking about it BECAUSE it only got defended a few times, and it's a legacy belt), maybe you could instead either offer ideas for it, or simply shut the fuck up about it altogether. Instead, you chose to be a fucking asshole about it.
It's also the only other belt in the original inherited set of belts (besides the World belt) that was a "regular" openweight belt (as I mentioned in the original post, the Grand-Prix belt was for rookies, like the NXT Championship before that was actually a thing, and the Internet belt was created when World came out and wasn't even officially affiliated with CRITICAL! Club), and when you have people basically waiting for a shot at the World belt between "PPV"-scale events, there needs to be a 2nd-tier belt that they can fight for, where a bunch of people can be in a match at once and it not be "out of place" as a regular occurrence. My line of thinking behind wanting to do this is along the lines of how a struggling wrestler can be believably built up into a main-event contender in a matter of like a couple months if there's motivation and effort being put behind him (I currently refer to this idea as the "B-Team/Major Bros Build Back Better Plan").
And again, it's a legacy belt, and if I'd dropped it, you'd instead be complaining that I was shitting on the history of the community. You don't get to have it both ways, let alone just act like an asshole about it without any provocation.
And unlike when the previous bookers ran things and created belts, I'm at least being up-front and transparent about things and in fact requesting community involvement in said things.
It's not my fault if you and people like you choose to instead shit all over it.
(Related, I do regret not being able to run anything in 2020 and try to drum up more involvement for that, that's all on me
for my sub-brand of the fed.
But I'm gonna ask you again: who else was running community events and how often?)
Now for your other stuff (also spoilered for length):
AND I LOVE THAT THAT'S GOING ON. :)
But part of the reason the whole community fed thing existed in the first place when it was created 15 years ago in a community forum that was created almost 30 years ago is so that all these diverse edits can intermingle regularly in an international way, and sometimes fight for intermingled international championships along the way.
You're literally saying to just abandon 15 years of community-made history because fewer people are applying to join, and you pulled out of competing in fed events altogether before I even held my first show, so WHY are you still complaining about how I'm running shows for a fed you're not even participating in anymore??
As a catch-all response to all this all together: NOBODY (especially me) WAS PREVENTING YOU OR ANYBODY ELSE FROM MAKING ANY OF THESE THINGS HAPPEN. Stop acting like I'm gripping the fed with an iron claw or something, because the FPC! Brand that I'm specifically running as a subset of the fed was LITERALLY created so that you and other people would stop complaining that I'm "monopolizing" the fed and/or whatever else your complaint of the week was. And also so that I would stop spamming posts here in the general Community Fed subforum, WHICH IS FOR COMMUNITY FED EVENTS, FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
People even tried to set up C!C Presents JUST to spite ME, and look how that turned out after only one show.
1 - It's not on me to speak on any involvement NSL and Firehawk have other than that Firehawk pulled his edits from fed competition prior to losing the Battlefront Championship. (I will also mention for transparency's sake that he didn't lose the belt because he pulled out, he did say he'd defend it as long as he was still champ, and that Firehawk would be gone once he lost it, his loss was a result of the match RNG not going his way)
2 - YOU pulled Emu from fed competition before I even held Rising 1, any lack of you and Geese teaming up in the fed is entirely on you. I wasn't even aware that that was a thing, and if either of you had mentioned it to me, I WOULD HAVE DONE THAT FOR YOU.
3 - Carl literally left the forum over the whole "pirating the game" debacle, and ACCORDING TO THE LITERAL RULES PUT FORTH BY THE MAKERS OF THE FORUM, he was no longer part of fed competition at all. (like, holy fuck, do you even have ANY memory of anything that happened around here before?) Him not feuding with Senator in fed events is not on me at all whatsoever.
4 - Nobody was preventing Hana and UIG fighting over championships from happening (OH HEY, UIG was also the first Battlefront Champion, THEY COULD HAVE FOUGHT OVER THAT BELT at ANY point before he lost it). In fact, Hana Brightly happens to be one of my favorite edits on the entire roster and if Pep decides they want me to book her again, I would book her on literally every show, so what's your excuse?
5 - OH HEY, WHATEVER DID IN FACT HAPPEN to doing a C!C version of FPCMMA here in the fed? OH, I REMEMBER, nobody else felt like doing Gruesome anymore, ONE guy volunteered for DODEKAGON (his edit is the champion, btw), and Zealot and Brick both ended Hybrid and HONOO, so go complain to THEM about S-1 and SWA not being run in the fed either with the same amount of bullshit venom you're throwing at ME.
6 - As memorial and commemorative events pertain to me and the shows I'M doing for the fed:
- I literally made CRITICAL! Royale as an annual event to memorialize Ceese. If you don't want to be involved in that, it's literally only on you.
- Only just a month ago, I spent an entire 2 months doing memorial matches for Level, and if somebody who actually knew him better wants to make an annual memorial event for him, THEN FUCKING DO IT, jesus fucking christ!
- At the "ALLIANCE" event that I held for Fire Pro's 30th Anniversary (which ALSO was more than 90% sign-ups), I did the HOSS Freeman FRUMBLE to commemorate THE GUY WHO STARTED THE ENTIRE FUCKING COMMUNITY. And before Covid hit, I was going to make the FRUMBLE an annual thing and I still plan on doing that after the Rising show (this year it's being folded into the Royale match for logistical reasons); JAMES FUCKING FREEMAN HIMSELF gave me the go-ahead to port HOSS to World and make the FRUMBLE happen in the first place, put him on the Workshop (full disclosure on my end: I have to re-make him because I lost him a drive crash before uploading him), and use him in community fed events that I hold!
- Meanwhile, Kaotic's doing the FullBug Memorial Tournament! And if he could do it every year, then EVEN BETTER! Get your goddamn head out of the sand on this shit, SERIOUSLY.
- If somebody wants to do an annual memorial to Bennyhanna, then have at that too, cuz I don't even know what edits on the workshop are his if there were any, because nobody had an answer for me when I asked.
- AND I LITERALLY DESIGNED THE BELT GRAPHIC FOR THE INTERNET CHAMPIONSHIP TO LITERALLY HAVE CEESE AND FULLBUG'S EDITS ON IT AND AM GOING TO PUT LEVEL AND BENNY ON THE REDESIGN. HOLY FUCKING SHIT HOW ARE YOU SO IGNORANT??
You literally say
and you completely ignore that I worked my ass off trying to get everybody involved, it WASN'T handed to me on a silver platter, that platter was laying on the floor and nobody else decided to take it and do something with it.
"And look what happened" - what happened is that I've been running shows for 3 out of the past 4 years and booking edits whose handlers sign up to be involved and free agents whose handlers gave permission to be involved. What have YOU been doing?
So FUUUUCK RIIIIIGHT OFFFFF with YOUR ignorant bullshit.
It's not "self-aggrandizing" to be proud of what I contributed to the community, and it's not being an "egomaniac" when I have literally asked for several months for other people to also get involved and make a proper committee to run the community fed.
I will gladly and gracefully 100% step down from doing Community Fed stuff altogether if LITERALLY ANY ONE PERSON around here steps up, says THEY want to do it, and can actually do it for more than 1 show, let alone do shit for it for at least 3 out of 4 years.
Fucking ridiculous. Absolutely fucking ridiculous.
