There are some matches that feel special to each of us, and in the middle of those matches there's always a specific moment that just bring you a massive smile and makes you think that wrestling is great. There's a lot of those for everyone, but in this thread instead of listing a random bunch of them you enjoyed, let's focus on a single one and explain why it's so special to you, basically share what is one of the defining moment is making you a wrestling fan. To start with something and amongst the many moment that were special to me, one of them still stand the test of time : Goldberg vs Diamond Dallas Page at Halloween Havoc 1998 for the WCW heavyweight title. For the anecdote this match wasn't aired as the feed was just accidentally cut, so WCW re-aired it for free the day after. And oh boy while Halloween Havoc 1998 is sadly remembered globally for the disaster that was Hogan vs Warrior, this title match was an incredible piece of wrestling and without contest the best match Goldberg ever had. The moment in question was when Goldberg was going for his finisher, but to the surprise of everyone DDP reversed it into the Diamond Cutter. The crowd litterally exploded and even the referee seemed to mark out too :D this felt simply historical , the always popular DDP was going to defeat the unbeatable Goldberg, in this time of still-alive kayfabe you really felt DDP managed to do the impossible, he was going to win against impossible odds. And damn the booking , the match should really have ended there, it was so good and that specific moment felt so much like "top of the world" that they should have sent the booking to the toilet and rewrote the finish on the spot to get this match being the one to end Goldberg massive winning streak instead of the stupid nwo taser thing.

Whenever I first saw the Undertaker. His debut has stuck in my mind forever since I've gone back to watch that match on more than a few occasions.
Pretty much anything involving the "Golden Era" (for lack of better terms) of the Cruiserweight Division in WCW. Most of those dudes are still some of my favorites to watch even today.
The Goldberg/Regal match where Regal shoots on him the whole time.
Jericho's "1,004 Holds" promo in WCW.
Yeah, if you couldn't tell, I love the mid-card of WCW in the mid-to-late-90's-but-before-it-went-to-shit Era.

First pro wrestling match I ever remember watching was AWA Superstars on Saturday morning, some time in 1982 or maybe 1983. It was the Legion of Doom vs a couple of no-name jobber guys, and the LOD just killed the fuck out of them. The face paint, the haircuts, the absolute devastation of two nobodies....I was instantly hooked.
Then a short while later I saw Hulk Hogan on TV and bought right into the Hulkamania craze that swept over the world at that time. He was just so hyper and over the top, and the "24 inch pythons" schtick blew my mind.

It was so long ago I don't fully remember, but I'm gonna assume based on ages and whatnot my first memory would probably be during the Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant feud.

I don't know if this was THE moment but this brutal spot immediately comes to my mind. Growing up with only late JCP and WCW with some puroresu in the mix Vader was the
man for me.

When I was little I saw a small WWE promo with The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The rest is pretty much history.

Billy Kidman vs Juventud Guerrera vs Rey Mysterio at Starrcade '98. It was one of the first matches to ever get me really hyped despite not watching it live, and is one of my favorite matches of all time.

It was the mid-90s WCW cruiserweights that really did it for me as well. Guys like Juventud Guerrera, Rey Misterio Jr., Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, and La Parka first made me realize that a wrestling match doesn't necessarily have to be two roided-out musclemen very slowly whomping the hell out of each other. And as ridiculous as these two examples probably sound, the first feuds I can remember really feeling invested in were Chris Jericho vs Prince Iaukea (or as Jericho called him, "Prince Nakamaka", which still cracks me up) and Disco Inferno vs Alex Wright. To this day, when I think "pro wrestling" I think WCW Saturday Night.

For me, I was already a wrestling fan, but this opened up my fandom. Made me realize there was much greater wrestling outside the WWE.
Necro Butcher vs Samoa Joe. The sheer brutality of this match was something is never seen, and I'd watched all the big WWE last man standing matches, Foley hiac and fmw matches, but this was another level.I just remember being in complete awe of this violent spectacle. At the time, I only knew of Samoa Joe from the tiny bit I'd seen in TNA. But when my friend showed me this, I knew I needed to find more.
The gamefaqs board had introduced me to a promotion called Ring of Honor, but I'd really never paid much attention other than hearing a guy named Low Ki KO'd someone. But after seeing Joe brutalize Necro, my first DVDs of ROH I got were best of Joe volume 2 and the first barbed wire match Homicide was in, I think vs Corino.
I'd also heard of guys from Japan in the boards, and in FPD. Ivp videos helped me find out more with their cheap DVDs, and the rest is mostly history.
So much so that I'm watching every day of the G1 live and mostly ignore WWE now days.
Thank you Joe and Necro for making me open Pandora's box.

Hogan turning on Sting/Savage/Luger to start NWO.
I had watched wrestling here and there, prior (as I was too young to really follow and didnt have my own tv to watch it on), and would go to a friend's house on Monday to watch wrestling. The first night I ever went there to watch: Hall invaded WCW. That was obviously huge. It had my attention, but watching Hogan turn completely hooked me.

All of this for me, too. For real, WCW's cruiserweight, mid card shit was great. Jericho's man of 1004 holds run with "Stanko Melenko" and pretty much everyone else he ran into back then was gold (and the EPIC, most-muscular pose standing foot on the chest arrogant pin he used!). Eddy Guerrero's stuff, Benoit, Regal, all of the Lucha guys, Perry Saturn, then you'd just turn it off when all of the meat heads would lumber in and fall all over each other during the main event. The smaller guys were just so athletic, they could fly, they did crazy submission moves (first time I'd seen the Romero Special!!!), great bridging pins and stiff suplexes, striking combos, they had the total package! Great stuff back then, hard to believe that company died with such great curtain jerking/mid card material (excluding main event stuff). Previous to finding WCW's glorious mid card, I had lost interest in pro wrestling during WWF's big gimmick period (pre attitude era) and wasn't watching at all. One weekend I remember seeing WWF was on, but unlike their usual fair of squash matches featuring The Goon vs Barry Horowitz, there was a little dude dressed like a ninja in the ring with another little Japanese dude. I decided to check it out, not knowing that I was about to have my mind blown by Sasuke and Taka Michinoku. Seeing Sasuke do an olympic caliber floor routine across the mat before firing his own ass out of the ring via a handspring corkscrew plancha blew my little BakFu mind! I was hooked again and couldn't get enough. I've tried to get back into pro wrestling, but I just can't do WWE. ROH scratches the itch, and the Fight Network is showing some 2014-2016 NJPW stuff, so that's pretty awesome. I like Okada, Naito, Ryusuke Taguchi, Kota Ibushi and Kushida from NJPW, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks are show stealers for me and some of the other ROH roster Jay Lethal, the Briscoes, Kyle O'Reilly/Bobby Fish (in WWE now). I usually PVR stuff and check it out if I remember, but I'm still waiting for that hook to happen and suck me in again.

The Macho Man.
Fuck if I remember who he wrestled, or when it was. I just remember him coming out in that giant green sparkling robe waving his fingers and spinning around.
It was during his IC reign, because I remember the belt. I may have been 3 or 4 but I remember my parents living room and where I was on the floor when he came on tv.
Thats my earliest wrestling memory. My first mark out moment was Warrior squashing Honky. I was hooked for life the moment that music hit and he came running out.
