Included below are a few tricks, unlockables and glitches found in Super Fire Pro-Wrestling X Premium.
I'll start with the obvious ones.
Unlock Title Match mode:
To unlock Title Match mode, you must complete World Championship mode in either the singles or tag team divisions.
Once unlocked, Title Match mode will become selectable on the menu screen.
Replay the roster preview:
After completing World Championship and Title Match modes, selecting the blank space between Option and World Championship modes
on the main menu will play a preview showcasing all of the Wrestlers for each of X Premium's fictional promotions.
Unlike the regular main menu preview (which only focuses on one promotion at a time - followed by a match). clicking the blank space will
display all of the Wrestlers from every promotion one after another without any interruption.
The ending uses the same background from Super Fire Pro-Wrestling (1991):
Coming full circle, X Premium uses the same ending graphics (albeit, with several minor differences) from Super Fire Pro-Wrestling;
the first Fire Pro entry on the Super Famicom.
The three belts are based on the Triple Crown Championship:
The three championship belts awarded in World Championship/Title Match modes are based on All Japan Pro-Wrestling's pre-unified
Championship belts. The belts are:
1) PWF World Heavyweight Championship 2) NWA United Heavyweight Championship & 3) NWA International Championship
The game has two types of Championships:
For the first time ever, Fire Pro-Wrestling recognized players who successfully completed each of the three championships in either
the singles or tag team division of World Championship and Title Match modes.
The top row signifies Championships collected in the singles division; whereas the bottom row represents championships
won in the tag team division.
26,172
That's the number of matches needed to complete X Premium and win every championship in both the
singles and tag team divisions with all 116 characters (plus 80 edit mode characters).
The numbers are broken down as followed:
Singles division:
- 79 matches (World Championship)
- 16 matches (HWGP tournament)
- 9 matches (Neo Heroic Championship tournament)
____________________________________
104 matches x 196 characters = 20,488 matches
Tag team division
- 38 matches (World Championship)
- 10 matches (HWGP tournament)
- 4 matches (Neo Heroic Championship tournament)
___________________________________
52 matches X 98 tag teams (196 characters divided by 2) = 5,684 matches
So, if you were to add the combined matches of both divisions: 20,488 + 5,684 = 26,172 matches in total. That's just insane
and clearly the most demanding Wrestling game ever!
Giant Baba is locked away in X Premium's code:
This next inclusion is pretty well known by now in the Fire Pro community, but for those of you who weren't already aware:
Wrestling legend Giant Baba was intended to be a playable character in X Premium.
As the story goes, Giant Baba was first featured in 1991's Super Fire Pro-Wrestling on the Super Famicom. One small problem:
Giant Baba's wife Motoko Baba ended up calling HUMAN Entertainment insisting that Baba's unofficial likeness to be removed
from the game entirely.
Giant Baba wouldn't be featured in a Fire Pro entry as a playable character again until 1994's Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special
(where Baba would only become playable once Championship Road was completed).
Using the fan-created "Improvements for SFPWXP", not only was Baba and his corresponding character sprite found in X Premium's code,
but Baba can become a playable character only after creating him in the game's edit mode.
The colours of your group depends on the attire your Wrestler(s) is wearing:
When any of X Premium's Championship or Title Match modes are completed, the character(s) is shown standing
in front of their manager, trainer and fellow group members. You can change the colour of the group members
by selecting different attires for your Wrestler(s).
Picture #1 displays the team colours using Stan and Bruiser's default attires.
...and picture #2 shows the crazy team colours when Stan's 3rd and Bruiser's 4th attires are selected.
As each of the 116 main characters have four separate attires to work with, the possibilities for character endings are
truly limitless.
Easy submission glitch
Getting your opponent to tap out can be annoying (especially in tag matches). Luckily, there's a simple glitch that can
be performed with certain Wrestlers.
The referee stops the match even before the Undertaker has a chance to tap out normally.
How to do it:
- Get opponent down to little or no health.
- Perform Lariat/Clothesline.
- Immediately go for a submission hold.
Instead of spending a few seconds to give the opponent enough time to tap out normally, the referee will stop the match
immediately; tricking the game in the process.
Characters I recommend for this glitch: Hulk Hogan, Riki Choshu, Dr. Death Steve Williams.
Blazing Tornado guest characters:
Besides legendary Wrestlers, completing Title Match mode also unlocks all of the characters from HUMAN Entertainment's other
Wrestling game Blazing Tornado.
Unlock the legendary Wrestlers:
Along with the Blazing Tornado cast, players can unlock the hidden legendary Wrestlers by completing Title Match mode
in either the singles or tag team divisions.
Unlock all 150 edit points:
Completing Title Match mode in both the singles and tag team divisions with a created Wrestler unlocks all 150 edit points;
giving players the ability to create a Wrestler with perfect stats.
Unfortunately, even after unlocking the 150 edit points, the player has to start the process over again with each created Wrestler
should they want to level up the rest of their creations.
The first Fire Pro with online play:
You read that correctly. By using the X BAND accessory and a subscription service, players were able to connect via a telephone line
for online matches starting in April of 1996.
Could you imagine if X Premium had it's own Fire Pro Workshop back then?
Critical Collision Glitch:
Certain grapple techniques can also cause a critical. Though, with the right timing, you can prevent the referee from stopping the match
and watch them glitch out in the process.
For this example, I used Super Tiger's Rolling Sobat Kick (Front grapple MED/B).
After the hit connects (and the referee begins to run over to announce the critical), immediately run towards the opponent.
Colliding with the opponent interrupts the opponent's falling down animation and keeps the opponent on their feet.
If done correctly, the referee will continue to hover over both players and become stuck in a short animation loop waiting for the critical'd opponent
to fall to the canvas. After a few seconds, the referee's loop will stop and the match will play out normally again - as if the critical never happened.
And, if you want to cause the critical after all, just send the critical'd opponent to the floor (works even when reversing the opponent's
attack) while the referee is still hovering over both players in his animation loop and the opponent will get knocked out instantly.
Infinite Moonsaults Glitch:
The next trick allows you to perform as many moonsaults as you want unto your opponent.
After the opponent has taken enough damage, knock them to the ground with their back facing up.
Naturally, the Moonsault is intended to follow with a pin. But, applying the moonsault on an opponent with their back facing
up will prevent this; allowing the player to go for as many Moonsaults as they want. Talk about a cheap win.
Moonsault Submission Glitch:
On top of being able to pull off certain aerial attacks infinitely, applying a submission hold after one can stop a match instantly!
Once the opponent has little to no health left, perform a moonsault on to an opponent with their back facing up and then immediately follow
up with a submission hold. The referee will stop the match immediately.
