Going through my old FAQ's, I stumbled across all of the Wrestler endings (in World Championship and the hidden Legend Road modes)
for Fire Pro Wrestling 3 Legend Bout on the PC Engine.
In the screens below, I've also noted one special feature (see Hogan and Tenryu's ending screen) and two glitches.
Clearing World Championship displays these endings:
Antonio Inoki and Tatsumi Fujinami
Akira Taue and Jumbo Tsuruta.
Super Tiger Mask and Akira Maeda.
Shinya Hashimoto and Riki Choshu.
Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen.
Jushin Thunder Liger and Dynamite Kid.
Yoshiaki Fujiwara and Masakatsu Funaki.
Steve Williams and Terry Gordy.
Hiroshi Hase and Masahiro Chono.
Incredibly, if either of your players start bleeding during the final match, they'll also show up bloody in their ending!
Hulk Hogan and Genichiro Tenryu.
Toshiaki Kawada and Mitsuharu Misawa.
Nobuhiko Takada and Kazuo Yamazaki.
Big Van Vader and Atsushi Onita.
Tiger Jeet Singh and The Great Muta.
You can also clear World Championship with the unlockable boss characters Rikidozan and The Destroyer
...along with Lou Thesz and Karl Gotch, too!
Successfully completing World Championship mode provides the player with a password LEGEND ROAD - which unlocks a challenging new tournament
to clear.
Not only are the opponents more difficult this time around, every match is a 2 on 1 tag team handicap match. Ouch.
But, if you're strong enough to defeat all of the tag teams in Legend Road mode, you are treated to the true ending.
Your character's portrait displayed in the NJPW dojo while Kotetsu Yamamoto watches over an aspiring trainee. The circle of life continues...
The first character portrait is Antonio Inoki. Every Wrestler's trainer is also included with their own portrait that is displayed alongside the Wrestler
you have chosen. In the above case, Inoki's trainer is Rikidozan.
Jumbo Tsuruta with his trainer Giant Baba. It's interesting to note that Giant Baba isn't in the game as a playable character. Making me wonder if
Baba was removed from Legend Bout.
Akira Maeda with trainer Karl Gotch.
Some Wrestlers even include their entrance attire such as Stan Hansen with Giant Baba.
One of my favourite portraits is Jushin Thunder Liger. Antonio Inoki's trainer portrait is even different with Inoki in a different pose and entrance robe.
If you look closely, you'll notice Liger's mask features stick out with a bit of yellow. Kind of spooky.
Tatsumi Fujinami in entrance robe with Antonio Inoki.
Akira Taue with The Destroyer.
If I remember correctly, there was a glitch in Legend Bout where Akira Taue and Tiger Jeet Singh's Legend Road portraits were mixed up.
Beating Legend Road with Tiger got Akira's and beating Legend Road with Akira got Tiger's. Weird.
Tiger Mask/Super Tiger with Karl Gotch. Another great shot of Tiger's entrance attire and pose.
Bruiser Brody with his signature chain and Giant Baba.
Dynamite Kid with Lou Thesz.
Riki Choshu with Antonio Inoki.
Mitsuharu Misawa with Giant Baba.
Nobuhiko Takada with Karl Gotch.
Hulk Hogan is running wild alongside Antonio Inoki.
Great Muta in classic entrance robe with Antonio Inoki.
Shinya Hashimoto with Antonio Inoki.
Toshiaki Kawada with Giant Baba.
Kazuo Yamazaki with Karl Gotch.
Genichiro Tenryu with Giant Baba.
Tiger Jeet Singh complete with entrance turban and sabre sword. With Giant Baba.
Again, if I remember correctly, beating Legend Road with Akira Taue displays this portrait as a mix up glitch.
Masahiro Chono with Antonio Inoki.
Terry Gordy with Giant Baba.
Masakatsu Funaki with Karl Gotch.
My favourite portrait has to be Big Van Vader's with The Destroyer.
Atsushi Onita with Giant Baba.
Hiroshi Hase with Antonio Inoki.
Steve Williams with Giant Baba.
It's been a while since I played Legend Bout, but I remember Yoshiaki Fujiwara not being able to run at all. Making his Legend Road playthrough
even harder! Also accompanied by Karl Gotch.
Even the unlockable final bosses get their own Legend Road portraits! The Destroyer with Rikidozan.
Rikidozan is the only Wrestler to be depicted with a belt in his portrait (most likely the belt Rikidozan won from Lou Thesz). Alongside The Destroyer.
Speaking of Lou Thesz. With Karl Gotch.
And, lastly, Karl Gotch with Lou Thesz as the 32nd Legend Road ending.
Hope you guys got a kick out of these ending screens. And remember: your portrait might be hanging in the NJPW Dojo one day.....
