Hey all, long time no see. I am dropping in as I got a Fire Pro question I don't remember the answer to.
On another site I'm a member at someone raised the possibility of several people making their own Fire Pro edits and entering them in for a site-wide tourney. The thing is as it is a videogame forum as opposed to a wrestling game forum a good 95% of them don't actually own a Fire Pro game. However, if there was a way to have someone work on their own edit without having to own the game that would make this idea markedly less problematic.
I have a vague recollection of some sort of basic edit-like program or whatnot back in the FPD era, but that's about all I got. I figured if anyone knew anything about anything like this it would be the fine fellows of the FPC... wait I mean the Arena, no... *looks at top of page* ...the Critical Club, yes definitely that one! (Maybe it was firepropc >_> )...
Anyways if there is anything even vaguely like that I would very much appreciate any info y'all may have!

Hi jd! 😄 I think you were thinking about FPD Edit which was the free program that Jason Blackhart made during the FPD era. That program allowed you to make a VMS file of an edit. You could then convert it to DCI and transfer it to your Dreamcast. It was an excellent program and even allowed you to assign multiple finishers. To my knowledge there is no equivalent of it for FPW though. Spike has had a lot of sales for FPW recently though on Steam and PSN so you may want to take a look 💡

Hey OG!
I remembered the name was FPD Edit a couple days after I posted this FWIW, couldn't get it running on my current comp but it is good to know it is at least a potential option.
I like those other forum goers but I ain't gonna buy them all a copy of FPW even if it is discounted, I am many things but not made of moneys :P I think the plan is that if it comes to fruition someone is just gonna stream the game on twitch and have people tell him how to make their edits for them which... well it sounds possible if time consuming, if it comes to pass I'm just gonna tell them to try and find a basic logic template or something so they can just work on the appearance and movesets.

Hey OG! I remembered the name was FPD Edit a couple days after I posted this FWIW, couldn't get it running on my current comp but it is good to know it is at least a potential option. Unfortunately, I think that JB took down all of his websites which had all of this cool programs and support files. And even before that people were having issues running it since they couldn't find some of the crucial support files. That may even be the issue you were having with running it on your computer. I like those other forum goers but I ain't gonna buy them all a copy of FPW even if it is discounted, I am many things but not made of moneys :P I think the plan is that if it comes to fruition someone is just gonna stream the game on twitch and have people tell him how to make their edits for them which... well it sounds possible if time consuming, Yeah I think you'd either be spending too much money or too much time on those options! if it comes to pass I'm just gonna tell them to try and find a basic logic template or something so they can just work on the appearance and movesets. There were some web based programs that allowed you to make FPR templates but I seemed to have lost those links. I don't know if they'd still work years later anyway. BUT - I know what you can do! I suggest downloading a program called "Fire Pro Returns Wrestler Tool." firepro.ajworld.net/wrestool/It's created by a community member named Freem and functions very much like a modern FPR edit. He actually made it recently (toward the tail end of FPR/start of FPW period). It will allow you to make HTML Templates from edits that you plug into the program! A few years back, it even interfaced with a program he made called Fire Pro World Wrestler Tool. FPR Tool allowed you to export save files of FPR edits into FPW Tool which then gave you a save file that would work with FPW on Steam. That means that you could take your entire FPR save and port it into FPW (minus appearances) which was a huge deal for me. FPW Tool wasn't updated after some Spike updates though so it's not as relevant now. But FPR Tool can still allow you to play around with your FPR save, make new FPR edits, and export them into templates. I think this could be your best choice now at least in the short run. In the long run, all the people involved in your project will develop the FIGHTING SPIRIT of Fire Pro and buy a million copies of the game and all DLC for each other 😄

Oh hey, this actually looks very useful potentially! Taking a quick look at it there might be some stuff that'd have to be sorted out by others (for appearances it may just be simplest to ask them what they think their person should look like and have someone with the game itself try to match it as best they can) but this looks like it could make everything else much simpler to manage. Thanks OG, I shoulda figured that if anyone would be able to help out it'd be you!

Oh hey, this actually looks very useful potentially! Another related solution that I am not as certain about: Freem also has a program called Fire Pro Wrestling World Save Tool: firepro.ajworld.net/WorldSaveTool/It's very similar to "Fire Pro Returns Wrestler Tool" like I recommended above. Ideally, it would work even better for you though as it allows you to acknowledge the features of a Fire Pro World edit in comparison to the more limited Fire Pro Returns edit. However, I don't remember if World Save Tool has that "export template" feature that Returns Save Tool does that I linked you to in the previous post. For some reason, my computer no longer allows me to run World Save Tool so I can't check. My hunch is that World Save Tool does have a template feature too but I can't guarantee it. It may be worth a try though. Worst case, it doesn't have the template export and you delete it. Best case, it does have the template export and you can factor in FPW edit features (like more strike exchanges, more priorities, etc). Taking a quick look at it there might be some stuff that'd have to be sorted out by others (for appearances it may just be simplest to ask them what they think their person should look like and have someone with the game itself try to match it as best they can) Yeah, these edit customization programs never really have an effective appearance tool generator since there isn't a preview panel. FPD Edit didn't have it either. You can make appearances but you can't actually see what they look like until you put the edits in the game itself. You're probably best off having someone give you an appearance suggestion and then having someone else approximate it in the game. Thanks OG, I shoulda figured that if anyone would be able to help out it'd be you! Very glad that I was able to help! 😄
