I was on a roll this year, quarantine probably helped
Control
Far Cry 5 New Dawn
God of War
Last of Us
Last of Us 2
Metal Gear Solid V
Outer Worlds
RPGs:
Blue Reflection
Bravely Second
Dark Cloud 2 (Again)
Final Fantasy 7 R
Final Fantasy 15
Fire Emblem Awakening
Fire Emblem Three Houses
Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth 3
Kingdoms of Amalur (Finally)
Legend of Heros: Trails of Cold Steel 3
Legend of Heros: Trails in the Sky FC
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony
Persona 5 Royal
Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux
Tales of Xillia (Again)
Control and God of War were big surprises for me. I was able to 100% both games.
I put over 300 hours into MGS V and got the platinum trophy, even after all that I was sad to move on. Even if the game was unfinished or whatever, I enjoyed every minute.
The Last of Us series is good stuff. Took me years off and on to finish the first one, only cause I tend to focus on RPGs (clearly).
The Outer Worlds is too short. Thankfully the DLC added another 8-10 hours.
as for the RPGs.
Blue Reflection might be a silly fan servicey nonsense game but I think it’s one of the most beautiful games I’ve played. The music was nice too.
Bravely Second was fine, looking forward to the Switch game.
Dark Cloud 2 it was nice revisiting this one. I didn’t stress about taking pictures of everything this time.
I struggled with Final Fantasy 15 early on but by the end I was kinda blown away, might be a top 5 FF game for me.
the “Remake” was a nice surprise. Didn’t really scratch my FF7 itch but I enjoyed it for what it was.
Fire Emblem is the series to finally make me enjoy strategy RPGs.
Neptunia games are dumb and silly and I like that. Rebirth 3 is my least favorite of the 3 rebirths.
I finally beat Kingdoms of Amalur (not the Remaster though) I had a PC save for years but since I don’t have one anymore I had to play the PS3 version. I was halfway thru when I learned of the remaster. Oh well, glad I beat any version of it. It’s underrated IMHO.
Ugh Trails. Every game is the same for me. The beginnings are sooo slow and such a slog to get through. I end up putting them away for long periods of time only to come back to them and really get into the later chapters. Then I’ll beat it and be compelled to start the next one only to go thru it all over. Trails in the Sky FC took me 3 years to finish. Don’t get the hype honestly.
Lunar Silver Star Harmony remake on the PSP was a joy to play. I know I beat the original way back when but don’t remember it much.
Damn it Atlus, when I beat Persona 5 a few years ago I put over 100 hours into it and I was eagerly awaiting a time to play a New Game + then the Royal version was announced meaning I’d have to Nix that idea and play that version thru without the benefits of a NG+. Oh well, I love this game anyway so it was ok. EXCEPT I didn’t know the requirements to get the endgame extras so I’ll have to play it a 3rd time someday to experience the full game.
SMT Apocalypse was great except I really wanted to grind to overpower the final boss so by the end I was ready to move on.
SMT Devil Survivor was awesome. Slightly too long though.
SMT Strange Journey was fun at first but the later dungeons are ridiculous. Also a bit long in the tooth.
Tales of Xillia was a NG+ play through. Breezed right thru, gonna start a Xillia 2 NG+ soon.
