I've been watching a tag league recently and an idea popped into my head which I finally got to try tonight.
Pins built into tag moves.
No more hoping that the tag partner will stay out of the way! Not only can we transition pins directly off the legal attacker, but we can have our partners taunt as well. It's a pretty cool combination.
The GIF went quicker than I wanted but the ending screen showed that the pin was part of the double team.
This is more of a first draft since I want to clean up a few things but I'm happy to confirm it works.
I got a little greedy there and replaced the default STO with my delayed version of it so I may have to fix the timing of the synchronized sweep and drop, as well as the timing/placement of the pin kickout.
But I really like the potential here.
It will allow for more seamless tag move finish attempts AND free up priority spaces.
I wonder if double team submissions are possible too. It would probably just be a visual thing though.
That is really cool for you to come up with that. The uncertainty of double team moves set as finishers was a turn off from tag matches for me. This is a sure fix.

I was thinking about a use for the MMA slots for lucha or pro wrestling matches, but I don't know if this will actually work. I think that in theory, it should, but who knows. So, basically, I thought about using the MMA slots for chain wrestling. You know how there are lots of moves in the workshop with wrestlers going back and forth until the animation ends? Of course, that is all pre-determined by the move maker, and it will always have the same conclusion.
This will give you the freedom to have different outcomes. Of course, this will require a bunch of new moves created as Guard, Mount, and Back Mount moves to be created, plus generic reversals for those moves. but the good thing is that there are branches. The bad thing is that the MMA reversals are limited to 3, while the MMA moves add up to 9. So, picture this if you will: The attacker puts the defender on a headlock. From there he could pick 3 options: One would be to transition to a neck throw headlock, taking the defender to the ground. Or he could go for the technical spin. Or maybe, he pulls some other move. The defender would be able to reverse the headlock into a move that leads to the use of an MMA slot, like reversing to a hammerlock.
I don't know if this has been done by somebody else, but it could add to the game.

Well, it works. As you can see, a few times it was reversed with the bash from the Guard Position Counter. This opens some exciting possibilities, I think.
EDIT - So I made a few more moves and one reversal backdrop, but that reversal is messed up. It reverses the image, so that has to be worked on. But here are 3 moves from the headlock. Sorry for the janky gif. I use ezgif and for gif bigger than 30 seconds you have to reduce the framerate.

Yeah people have definitely been trying to incorporate more wrestling moves that use MMA slots. I've posted a few cool sequences in the crazy moments thread. But absolutely it is an aspect of the game that can totally be enhanced by more people adding moves and reversals.

Spike never gave tag matches the oomph that they needed. Double/triple team moves are too random and there are no damage categories for them. Adding pins or submissions to the moves can really allow matches to actually end with teamwork. For a while I've set double team moves as finishers and priority moves for tag team edits. But even when those moves come out, there is no guarantee that the attacker will be able to get the pin. It's usually the partner that gets in the way!! Adding the pin to the move and giving the partner something to do (a taunt) is a great way to guarantee that a finisher at least gets a pinfall attempt.
Geese I donβt know how I missed that double team move with the pin. Nice!
You guys are coming up with solutions to problems I was too afraid to admit were even problems.
I've been trying to solve issues with tag team matches for a long time but to no avail. I used all my "face down" positions and "unofficial sequences" but could not find a way to make tag team moves reliably pin, even with sequences. But Move Maker has given us so many tools to make matches better.
It just so happened that I was watching a lot of tag matches and the idea came to mind about the pins π
I threw this together in about half an hour. So it's ugly as a 2 dollar bootsteak. Obvious frame issues and stuff like that with the submission. It was going to take too long to give the top half of the defender the frames for the pin. So I just gave them the defender animation frames for the submission.
What's interesting to me is that the Attacker 1 (legal man) pin loop seems to have immobilized the defender. So even though their animation frames appear to be in the defender submission, they are kind of stuck as if they are being pinned. I don't know if the main reason for this is because a) the defender can't get submitted AND pinned at the same time or b) I just kind of threw this together without trying to iron out the technical issues.
Edit: Looking at this in Move Craft mode, the entire move pauses when it gets to the "SL" frame of the pin for Attacker 1 (not shown below but I just noticed it now). So my guess is that a pin loop has priority over a sub loop OR that a pin loop from Attacker 1 (top slot) has priority over a sub from Attacker 2 (third slot). I'll be interested in testing out what happens if the pin and sub attempts are assigned vice versa.
I think there's a lot of potential here to do some really cool double team stuff. Granted, most of this isn't technically legal in a standard wrestling match. But it's Halloween so gorge on this idea candy! π¬ππ«

What about a double team move where both guys pin the defender? Like, the defender is a big guy and both attackers lay on him for the pin. If the defender frees him/herself you would be like "WOAH", or the partner can come in and break the pin.
So random idea...imagine having her teleport from inside the ring to outside, grab a weapon from under the ring, then teleport back into the ring with a weapon?
Imagine her doing that while her opponent is literally on fire. (that's mean, Geese).

That is an awesome idea!!!!! π
You can have the two teammates stack on top of each other or just go next to each other and pin.
Another idea is having the non-legal man go to the floor and hold the defender's legs while the main attacker pins them!
