Congratulations to England winning the men's Cricket World Cup in a game that lasted all day and still could not be separated. Game goes to a first time super over and they WIN!
Beat the Aussies in the Ashes Series next month and these men will probably be made Sirs by the Queen!

^nice use of Kuroko there Gooseman! 😁 But yeah, that trade was pretty crazy. The only way to move Paul's ridiculous contract was to trade it for another equally or more ridiculous contract and really, only the oft-injured John Wall was really the only contender there and Washington.....well, I doubt even Washington really knows what they want to at this point :P They may be even more lost than the Knicks right now which is an absurd statement to make! Westbrook and Harden apparently WANTED this reunion to happen so it'll be interesting to see how things shake out. Really, the most effective use for them would be to have one lead the second unity but yeah, nobody's keeping a $40m on the bench, even if they play a superstar's minutes (i.e. 36 mpg or better). Still, I think that however they do it, Westbrook will be a better fit in Houston than CP3. Even without the list of injuries, Paul just never really added as much to the Rockets as anybody would have liked. It's telling that the most memorable thing from his tenure there was the locker room confrontation with his old teammates at the Staples Center (which is STILL pretty damn hilarious two years later). Mulling it over more the last few days, I think I was too pessimistic that Westbrook and Harden can't co-exist or at least learn to co-exist. They seem to be close friends and really want to play with each other. Given that Westbrook is no longer the center of a team and is going to Harden's team, I think he'll play more generously. He did that with PG too to some extent. I think it's a worthwhile experiment for them and we'll see if they can get the rotation in place so that each man is able to be comfortable. I'm a big believer in teams needing not just star players but star players that fit together well. I think that they fit together well in terms of being friends and former teammates but we're going to have a season (and potential playoffs) to see if they can evolve their styles together, in addition to the rest of the team. AND against the rest of the NBA which seems to have gotten hit by gamma radiation this off season, LOL. And yeah, with talk of OKC showing interest in shipping CP3 to Miami, we may still get that crazy epic "superstar" conflict, as there's just no way that Butler and Paul wouldn't come to physical blows at some point. xD It's going to be a very interesting NBA season coming up. "Mayhem in Miami" was sadly averted 😃 I thought CP3 would end up going to the Lakers but he's not going to fit with Rondo. And if it wasn't for AD and Cousins playing well with Rondo, I'd say Rondo would already be tossed off the team. But in case Rondo just isn't getting it done, he could end up leaving the team and being replaced by CP3. That said, it's a bit of a shame that teams like Indiana and Denver don't attract major stars to bolster their already talented cores. I feel that teams like them, Milwaukee, Orlando, etc. are always being left out in the cold because of the way the larger markets tend to dominate free agency and trade markets. It's not that the smaller teams don't have assets to exchange, it's that star players just don't want to play there if it can be helped. I think the only major star to go to a small market team in recent years was Paul George signing an extension with OKC before last season (and before being traded to his hometown Clippers last week). Of course, he had the experience of having played in a small market for his entire career (firs in Indiana then one season in OKC before re-signing with the latter) so he was rather used to it. I'll be interested to see what happens when small market superstar (and reigning league MVP) Giannis Antetokounmpo hits the market in a couple of years. Yeah, the small market teams continue to get ignored for the most part unless they happen to get a great draft pick and build the team around them - like Giannis. But like you said, he could leave if the Bucks don't continue as contenders. Teams like Charlotte just keep getting poached. As much as I'd love for Kansas City to get another NBA franchise, it probably wouldn't go much better than the first one (the Kings from 1972-1985), in large part because a city this size and away from the coast wouldn't be able to lure in "impact" free agents. They'd basically have to strike it rich in the draft immediately, like OKC with (Westbrook, Harden, and Ibaka in successive years; Durant too but he played a season in Seattle which has a notably bigger media/population imprint than Oklahoma City) to have anyone of note. Otherwise, it'd be another Charlotte and New Orleans situation. Kansas City needs to play up a "Free BBQ" angle and get all the NBA players known as big eaters 😁

Josh Gordon dabbles in a little weed, legal in many states, and is still suspended.
Tyreek Hill uses his lady's head for a soccer ball and supposedly breaks his son's arm and still is not suspended.
NFL has their priorities fucked up.

Let's not get started on Tyreek Hill. It's quite clear the NFL doesn't know how to prioritize discipline and it all starts at the top.

Domestic violence is definitely something the NFL has failed to get a grip on in terms of discipline. Continuing to slap the wrists of people who are not only a danger to their families but potentially to society as a whole leaves a tarnished image on their shield.
Should also be mentioned that I'm extremely tired of the marijuana argument for professional athletes in major sporting leagues. It's a banned substance in sports and a federal offense regardless of which states legalize it and these leagues have every right to enforce and punish their players as needed for violating the policies they put forth regarding their uses.
I feel ZERO sympathy for Josh Gordon. He's been suspended so many damn times for it and has clearly not learned that you can't do the shit if you want to play in the NFL. The fact that he's still even remotely eligible despite disappointing again and again is laughable.

Then here's another argument. Tom Brady gets suspended 4 games for deflating a football while Hill walks away scot free. Ray Rice got 2 games for using his wife as a punching bag in an elevator.
I'm not saying that players need to be banned from the league for domestic violence, but they do need to be disciplined and get help before being allowed to play again.
Otherwise, they will keep doing it. What's it gonna take for the NFL to take action? A player goes off the deep end and KILLS his wife. God, I hope that doesn't happen. But it will if the NFL don't get their shit together.

A player goes off the deep end and KILLS his wife. Girlfriend and unborn child in this case, but lest we forget... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rae_CarruthThe extreme has been reached before and the LAW stepped in for that case and rightfully so. Scary that he's free now. The NFL as it stands now doesn't have a grasp on any discipline from cheating to actual criminal activity so heaven knows what would happen again. I think they're honestly more driven by greed then they are about anything else really. Non-profit my ass. Approval for the league has been affected heavily by things like what people do for the National Anthem, so a big scandal/criminal offense by someone under the protection of "The Shield" would be pure chaos at this point.

Yeah. The gauge is all over the place. I just don't like the idea of using Josh Gordon as the poster boy for why weed usage is being mistreated compared to other shit. Dude is a repeat offender and is beyond the realm of normal punishment. He deserves every suspension he gets due to his failure to grasp simple policy even if it's the only one the NFL really polices properly if one could say that.
Outside of this topic, I'm sad to see a young boxing prodigy like Maxim Dadashev pass away so quickly after his first loss due to the injuries. Another sad, grim reminder of how boxing giveth and taketh away with each fight for this difficult sport.

Regarding Maxim Dadashev, that's on the trainer. He could have stopped the fight by throwing in the towel. But he didn't. I smell a lawsuit coming.

Regarding Maxim Dadashev, that's on the trainer. He could have stopped the fight by throwing in the towel. But he didn't. I smell a lawsuit coming. That's an enormously difficult call, and monumentally unfair to Buddy McGirt, who did call the fight, just too late. It was a fight between undefeated prospects, and giving someone their first loss has to be a very difficult call. Yes, it should have been called earlier, but I do not believe it was a case of negligence or incompetence that it was not. Easy call to make in hindsight, not so much in the moment. I have a great deal of sympathy for Matias and McGirt. However, where there SHOULD be a massive lawsuit is in the case of Hugo Santillan, who was negligently booked by promoters who exploited him when he never should have been getting back into the ring and paid the ultimate price for their greed. Where McGirt made his call too late, they ignored every bit of protocol and common sense by throwing a man back into the ring after suffering a recent loss a month ago in a ten rounder, where he should have been medically suspended for months.

Are you that stupid? This is just a joke meme making fun of the NFL for taking priorities on certain offenses that players commit.
Also, PEDS are performance enhancing drugs. It doesn't have anything to do with children.
