Ok, ive the game since launch for PC and up to this point have only ever used the keyboard and mouse. Now i need to connect a PS4 controller so i can use the Unlock Code to access the Suda51 content available after defeating it. I can't get the controller to work. This is the only game i have on steam so Ive never used one on PC before. Ive followed all the instructions i found online and Steam recognizes the controller but once the game loads it doesnt work. Somebody help and old idiot out. lol

Go to steam, get into settings; scrolls down to controller; then click general controller settings. Then select Playstaion support.
I use a MS windows controller, so if you have one of those it'll install the drivers automatically.
If none of those work, you can try big picture mode, and enable controller manually.

Ive done both of those and neither work for some reason. The PC recognizes the controller. Steam recognizes the controller. When the game starts i can press any button on the controller at the title screen to get to main menu and then nothing. It doesnt work beyond that point.

See if your buttons are set in Option -> controller settings If that doesn't work, try right-clicking the game in your steam library -> manage -> controller configuration If that doesn't work, maybe disable the keyboard in general controller config?

I fell asleep sorry lol. You can also try verifying local files. (Make sure you got your logos, mp3 and ect backed up.)
Maybe bind a control scheme in Big picture mode.
worst case scenario, you can try xpadder, or Imputmapper or some sort of virtual gamepad option. Basically it makes your game controller buttons mimic keyboard strokes.
Also if you have any other gamepad to try, see if it works. If both wont work, it's gotta be a steam or game issue.

Kind of a dumb question, but are you multi-tasking on your computer while playing?
If you click somewhere else, you'll need to click the window the game is in again to let the controller respond.

Also what version of Windows are you using? 10 should recognise and set up the DS4 automatically but 7 won't.

Sorry for being "that" guy, but long-term I would just recommend using an XBox 360 controller if you already have one (or if you can find one for $30 or under).

I agree with FM. As much as I hate every iteration of the XBox controller for various reasons, my Xbox controller connects smoothly to Steam and works on every game I've played on it. I prefer the PSX controller but have learned to deal with the XBox one for ease of use. And it's really not a problem for Fire Pro since it's not like you need smooth directional rolling like you would for a fighting game. I managed to get used to it for KOF so it's never an issue for Fire Pro. General rule of thumb: If I can do a Raging Storm, I can do an Okite Yaburi ๐
I can never get those PC controller mapping programs working for me and some of them come up as malware.
That said, I can totally understand not wanting to buy anything new right now. ๐ฎ๐ฆ

I still use my old Logitech on my old ass Windows 7 PC from 2011 for FPW. No mapping required.

Wondy has the same one too. I got the Xbox controller a few years ago for other games (specifically, SF5) but it works for FPW too so I just got used to using it. I do much prefer the Logitech over it for FPW though.
