It would be really nice if they would somehow change the subscription system, so that if you subscribe to an Edit that used crafted parts, you'd automatically also subscribe to those same parts.

So, what is it I have to do exactly to enable highlights on custom parts?

Supposedly the highlights don’t work for custom parts - that’s what I was reading on the modpack discord earlier.
From what I can understand you used to have to load a highlights sprite for the part in the mod version, but the parts craft version doesn’t have that capability so highlights seem to be out

Highlights have to be a separate part. sdss and I had a few back and forth posts about it on page 6, but the important one is a guide he posted about how to go about making a highlight part: criticalclub.com/post/38893Step 11 can be omitted, since it seems to be more for mod parts

Note that parts of my little guide on how to create a highlight layer won't work right with the new dlc, (namely the part about creating a full black layer underneath the highlight layer in photoshop, thus creating a png that has a black background.) A PNG with a black background won't look right uploaded as a separate part via the DLC. It will basically just create a black square for that part, blocking out whatever is underneath it.
I suppose you could try making the highlight layer according to my instructions, but then leave the background clear, like a regular part png. I'm not sure how that looks in game though.
The more I think about this, the more disappointing this DLC is.

Hell yeah, looks good Note that parts of my little guide on how to create a highlight layer won't work right with the new dlc, (namely the part about creating a full black layer underneath the highlight layer in photoshop, thus creating a png that has a black background.) A PNG with a black background won't look right uploaded as a separate part via the DLC. It will basically just create a black square for that part, blocking out whatever is underneath it. The more I think about this, the more disappointing this DLC is. Oh right, I did it a bit differently What I did was pretty much: - Open custom part png in photoshop - Use magic wand tool, right click anywhere -> color range -> select one of the whitest white spots (in the picture, not the box that just popped up), set the Fuzziness slider to 0 (I'm on Photoshop CS3, some terms are different I think) - Right click anywhere, select "similar" - Right click again -> "select inverse" - Right click AGAIN -> feather, set radius to 3 - Delete, then ctrl+D - Go to layers box (F7 if you don't see it) -> set opacity to 25% (or 50/75/100, whatever you're looking for) - Save as png When using highlight layers in-game, there's usually no real need to change their colors; leave them white

That Brian Cage is nice work.
One thing that is immediately useful, even without highlights, is exporting all of the waist base parts and colors as waist layers. Then when you publish them through the workshop and get them in your game, you can use the bare waist parts as a layer, which opens a neat effect of using some of the patterns that span the trunk and the waist, (like the Bigelow flame pattern, the stars, the triangle, and many of the Stardom female parts,) and blocking out the waist part, so they appear only on the trunks area. Like, you can have trunks that have the flame pattern with a bare waist.
Assuming you keep skin at the 25% highlight level anyway.

I'm digging through some of my old pngs to see what else might be useful. I could've sworn I made upper arms parts that had the builder arms as a layer over the normal arms, creating a muscular arm that was more realistic than the builder arms alone. Similar to what I did with the waist. But I can't seem to find the PNG for that. I'll keep looking.

I download hand parts and they keep going into the Parts_Calf folder? Anyone else getting anything like this?

Are we going to be able to convert parts between Steam/PS4 and vice versa?
