I was thinking about this while opening at work today.
How do you balance a game like Fire Pro that, for me, absorbs so much time and attention with other hobbies/friend/family/etc?

Fire Pro *is* my hobby.
That's how I balance it.
Any ideas I think of playing other games, I use for other ideas in Fire Pro.
I watch so little TV or "TV programming" recreationally, usually preferring to use it as research material instead. That's what I'm used to. I couldn't tell you the last time I watched a movie, or read an article or Googled some random object and didn't come up with an edit idea or two, or twelve.

I always try to make time for Fire Pro either on my phone or on console. I've always wanted to make hundreds of edits but due to having two children, a 50+ hour a week job and other hobbies that take up a lot of my spare time that I have left(Guitar playing and Snooker/Pool twice a week). I've come to the conclusion I never will make hundreds of edits, so i put what time i can into the ones i make and make them with Fire Pro love(my more realistic aim is to make 100 edits in total).

I basically have weekends for gaming. Thankfully both my wife and stay in, even before COVID-19. I've been blessed to be able to transfer work at home and it's the 8-5 M-F deal...so this morning, I got up, did laundry, did a Bible teaching video on YouTube for the people in my church, ate breakfast, then did Fire Pro.
What I don't have time for it seems is transferring my pen and paper fed results to the board here for my fantasy journal.

I have found myself watching a lot of Southeastern/Continental/Smoky Mountain of late and it has for sure played into how I see my edits. I worry that all of my edits are eventually going to be white, balding bland dudes with nicknames like Spitfire, Thunderball, Big or Showtime. I have mainly been focused on making "older" legacy edits so the old southern wrestling has helped a lot.

Basically, my "balance" with it just boils down to not having that much time with it and playing it when I both have the time and am really feeling like Fire Pro. The downside is that I've had the game for damn near three years and still kinda feel like I'm in the setting-up phase - especially when the mod scene can turn around and introduce a new feature, like conditionals, that totally changes how I build my edits.
Whereas if this were like, '06 or '07, I'd have all this time to spend with it like I did with FPR that I just don't have now. That's just kinda life, though. So my Fire Pro time is kind of catch-as-catch-can, and I guess that's how I balance it.
