Naito heard “the time of my life” playing in his head, and being slightly concussed from a previous move in the match, believed he was Baby, and leapt into the strong, muscly arms of who he thought was Patrick Swaze’s Johnny Castle from Dirty Dancing, believing that the romantic, climactic flying lift was coming, but ended up instead tragically in DAT BRIDGE THO!  |

Now y'all know that a thread like this cannot exist without the man who made the move famous.
Here is Karl Gotch performing the Atomic Suplex (that is what he called the move. It was renamed the German Suplex in his honor) on ANDRE...THE GIANT!

Good finds. I dig some Karl Gotch (although his iconic status in Fire Pro doesn't hurt). I always thought it weird that the "original German suplex" in FP looks like it does (the bridge is good, but the whole upper body being flat in the mat with no weight on the shoulders is bullshit and something Gotch would never stand for) when Gotch's suplex is still a picture perfect textbook German by today's standards.
I've seen pictures of him doing his bridge with a wooden plank on top of his body with people standing on the plank. Man was absolutely no joke.

Yeah, that Andre the average-plex is incredible! Who is he suplexing in that twitter thingy? I didn’t recognize him.
Also, is my gif of Naito getting got by Yujiro still there? I don’t see it! 🙁
