If there was a simple way to describe SCFL Pro, I would do that.
The truth of the matter is, it's incredibly complicated. The basics are as follows: Bike Bianchi and "Baby" Byron Hayes founded SCFL (nee SuperChat Fight League) as a way for them to make money as professional kickboxers inside of an MMA cage. From there it grew, with sadder and sadder men becoming involved, until it grew to where it exists today: with a bloated roster of sad, lost individuals all competing against each other for some of the oddest prizes in the world of fighting, professional wrestling and any other sport that is deemed applicable at any given time.
SCFL Pro is a weekly, narrative-based show ran in Fire Pro Wrestling World, written by Dave Walsh and Jason Nawara. Dave, a longtime Fire Pro community member, ran GWF in its late stages into Pro-Wrestling WILD in the early 00's. Pro-Wrestling WILD was an efed involving many of the community pillars at the time, or those that went on to be, including names like OrochiGeese, Jason Blackhart, Dave Fairbain (Fat Dave) and many more. In addition, Dave has published two novels and worked for various media outlets such as his own site, LiverKick.com, UGO, EGMNow, BloodyElbow, PlayStationLifeStyle, Uproxx and many more. Jason is one of the pioneers of strange MMA coverage, being one of the workhorses in establishing irreverent MMA coverage on MiddleEasy before going on to write for sites like Vice, EGMNow and served as an entertainment editor at Uproxx for two years.
SCFL Pro is based on the philosophy of building strong, memorable failures of characters, a lush, strange world with intricate stories that hook the audience. We sim in Fire Pro Wrestling World on PC, liberally using CarlZilla's mod suite to reach a means to an end when we need it, on a weekly show on Twitch. Right now that show is on Sunday nights. We work around the game's limitations and shortcomings -- even glitches -- to deliver our stories to our audience on a weekly basis. Our show is pretty weird at times, with our writing style being akin to something David Lynch would produce, but just inside of a wrestling-based world. With our skills from our past in video production, content creation and everything else we try to produce a slick, discernible show with its own, unique style. We don't really use community edits (which I know immediately disqualifies this from some people's radar) because of how involved our stories are, nor do we do any sort of RPing outside of blog posts to help push certain plotlines forward where needed. This means a bulk of the legwork happens during the show, where we put together video packages and still images featuring out characters in absurd situations.
SCFL Pro airs Sunday nights at 10pm eastern time at twitch.tv/SCFLPro.
