Jesus. These guys are going to have to start flipping into active volcanoes, flipped over running lawn mowers, or off the top of sky scrapers to garner a fan reaction soon. I liked the Tribe Called Quest music at the start, and PCO is taking a lot of pretty ridiculous bumps for a ninety year old. Who was that very full figured luchadora that caused multiple hernias and bulging disks with her graceful dive to the outside? Never seen her before, that was crazy, I doubt even Jeff Cobb could have caught her without hurting himself, kudos to that group of Luchadoras that did! Crazy stuff, thanks!

In the last year or two, it's mostly been Cody Rhodes. I love his whole approach. He focuses a lot on the storytelling and the actual rules of the match, and they factor heavily into how the match ends up playing out. He's stolen the show for me one almost every show I've watched in recent times.
For instance, watching Darby Allen go up top and miss his big top rope move (they don't call it high risk for nothing!) so badly that he basically critical'd himself, only to just barely survive to a draw (the clock ran out during Cody's pin at like 2.7) was really exciting, and more fun than if he had just hit the move. Cody exposed a weakness not long after, and Darby had to attack it with desperation while the clock was counting down and the pressure kept mounting.
I can't remember the last time I saw a match where someone basically KO'd themselves, knew they lost, and their only hope was to try and salvage a draw by outlasting the clock.

Hold up Black Dynamite, PCO is still 50 or 52...

Where is PCO and what has he had?!
😊
I know he’s not 90, but he’s not 20 either, and after so many years in the ring, it’s crazy seeing him taking flat back bumps from apron to floor and such. God for him having a second go, I just think he’s nuts is all!

Old WWE creative match finishes.
When Big Show made his debut at the St Valentine's Day Massacre steel cage match. He looked like a monster, but Austin needed to beat Vince. So Big Show threw Austin into the cage wall so hard that it swung open, and Austin only needed to hold on and and hop off at the end. Austin just barely escaped a major ass whipping. Big Show looked like a monster. The ending was a sudden surprised right at the climax. It was a satisfying ending to the match, but left you wondering what would come of this new situation.

Yeah, it was cool back in the pre/early smart mark era when things were still a bit kayfabe and internet spoilers were still a bit limited, and fans could wonder what would happen next as promotions built up a surprise angle. I miss that shit and I think it’s part of the reason I find it hard to care about pro wrestling as much anymore. Wrestlers are doing more athletic shit than ever now, but it’s almost impossible to suspend disbelief, and part of me misses that aspect more than any interest I have in people pulling off crazy highlight reel moves. I should put this in the “I’m getting old” thread... 🙂

OMG those urakens.
I often want to set up some late match logic like this, but worry people would say my 'logic is broken'. This can be my vindication.
