GFW: Backdraft iPPV TODAY 2pm EST/11am PST

Yo ive been subbed to your stuff for a bit. Good stuff, lol funny finding you here but it makes sense.

And here's my preview and predictions for the PPV: This will also give you a rundown of the stories going into all the matches, enjoy!

We’ve got THIRTEEN matches on this show, so sit back, grab some drinks, and enjoy the ride! (I better be getting paid overtime for this)

Match #1: El Fuego Negra vs “PR” Pedro Ramon

The Story: Not much heat between these two guys, outside of them being two wrestlers trained in the lucha style hoping to get an impressive win on the PPV opener. As you may remember, Fuego was the first ever GFW Champion. It may be hard to believe now, as he’s lost his mask and seemingly all his confidence along with it. Still, he should prove a tough first opponent for the GFW newcomer, and it’ll be interesting to see if “PR” can live up to the hype

EMav’s Pick: This is a simple case of picking either a known commodity in Fuego, or an unknown commodity in Pedro. Given Fuego’s recent performances, I’m more inclined to say Pedro Ramon will score the win, immediately catapulting him into the deep end of GFW. Only then will we see if he’ll sink or swim.

Match #2: “Dirty” HeelDuko vs “No Tamienta” Jun’ichi Yukimura

The story: Much like the previous bout, this match sees two wrestlers with similar backgrounds: this time Japanese strong style, out to prove themselves and get a big PPV victory. This could actually be a sleeper match of the night, as Duko has recently upped his game and Jun’ichi looked awesome on Mayhem. Can’t wait to see this one play out.

EMav’s Pick: As much as I’d like to see Jun’ichi continue his climb to the top, I’ve seen HeelDuko compete for years now, and I saw an intensity in his eyes when I talked to him yesterday that I haven’t seen in a very long time. I think he’s going to prove a point at Backdraft

Match #3: “All American” Bobby Freedom vs “Double D” Deryk Douglas

The Story: And in our third match of the night we’ve got the battle of stupid nicknames, Bobby vs Deryk. Bobby was the first ever FTW champion and boasts a singles victory over Nero Sin, and is currently a holder of the GFW Faction Titles, along with the rest of GLORY. Double D, on the other hand, only has one GFW match to his name, a loss against “The Heartbreaker” Taryn Johnson. Even in defeat, however, Deryk showed heart by kicking out of three Heartbreakers before eventually getting pinned.

EMav’s Pick: There’s a good chance that Derek’s resliency will help him drag this match out awhile, but I didn’t see anything from him offensively that convinces me he can put away a competitor like Bobby Freedom. It’s a matter of when, not if, Bobby hits the Red White and Bluplex and puts him down for the count.

Match #4: “Eye Of The Storm” Reave vs “The Darklight” Mizfit Angel

The Story: This is a classic tale of two competitors trying to one up each other. After Angel scores an impressive victory over Professor Aescher, Reave challenges him to a match to prove he could do even better, but in that match, Aescher came out on top. Rather than accept the defeat graciously, Reave opted to challenge Mizfit to a match, I guess to prove that wrestling math doesn’t add up.... or something.

EMav’s Pick: If this was a hardcore match my pick would easily be Reave, but I think he’s at a disadvantage with this being a normal match. Mizfit has great technical ability that I’m sure will be on display, and I think it’ll be enough to get the job done.

Match #5: “The Beating Heart” Heidi Hart-Smith vs “The Prestigious One” Travis Markson

The Story: For weeks on end now, Travis Markson has been tormenting the GFW fans with awful promo after awful promo. He tries to claim he’s the best, yet he can’t even seem to string two sentences together. Finally, during one of these ramblings, our resident Hart dungeon graduate, Heidi Hart-Smith, came out to challenge him to a match, which he (thankfully) accepted

EMav’s Pick: I’m going to go with the talented one.

Winner: Heidi Hart-Smith
Match #6: “Better Than You” Alex G vs Danny V5

The Story: Danny V5 went through hell and back in order to earn a match on this PPV, and now, he’s finally got it. This feud started when Alex G claimed to be better than Danny V5 simply because of his affiliation with Blood and Gore, the most successful GFW faction. When Danny challenged him to a match, G made him earn it first, saying he’d only wrestle him if he could last 10 minutes with the unstoppable FTW Champion, Bone Krusher. V5 almost did one better than that, nearly putting Krusher away with a V Cutter, but Krusher ended up submitting him... at 10:02 into the match. Now we’ll really get to see who the better wrestler between the two is.

EMav’s Pick: This is one of the most intriguing matches on the card to me, as Danny is obviously going to put his lucha libre style to the test against G’s mat-based approach. As easily as I can see Danny hitting a V Cutter and putting G away, I could just as easily see him falling victim to a guillotine or a kneebar or one of G’s other vicious submission holds. The thing that tips the match in G’s favor, however, is the probability of one or more of his many stablemates interfering in the match. Since GFW management never seem to do anything about run ins, it seems this is almost a given. For that reason alone, I’m going with Alex G.

Match #7: Too Lewd Dudes (Max Savage and Apollo) vs The Watchdogs (Marc Skerrat and Alexander Smith)

The Story: This is sure to be one of the most entertaining matches on the whole card. Too Lewd Dudes, led by pornstar Max Savage, love nothing more than getting under everyone’s foreskin. While The Watchdogs are focused on climbing the ranks in the GFW Tag Team Division, Savage and Apollo just want to get laid. Things came to a (prostitute giving) head when Savage fought Skerrat last week on Pulse. After Savage couldn’t beat Skerrat in the ring, he outsmarted him, waiting until the count of 9 to poke Marc in his (eye) balls and roll back into the ring for a count out victory. Will he pull the same stunt in this match, or will The Watchdogs cum out on top?

EMav’s Pick: I can only hope that The Watchdogs studied Max’s movies intently, and were able to enjoy the climax to his latest one; Hookers in Hawaii 3. If they watched the movies, they would have noticed it’s very hard to beat him off. Their normal techniques. They will need to try a faster and more vigorous approach to finish him off. Also, I’m not sure if Max is bisexual or not, but from watching his movies, I know he’ll have no problem savagely seducing anyone, male or female. I’m going with the Dudes in this one.

Match #8: Team Kawaii (KANA and Panda) vs House Of Wolves (Crim Rocker and Braden Blackwell) (Steel Cage Tornado Tag)

The Story: This match should serve as the conclusion for the feud between Team Kawaii and HoWL. I say “should” because you never really know what HoWL are going to do next. With the return of their leader, Marcus Moonchild, Team Kawaii are looking to stay strong and prove their toughness in search of the Tag and/or Faction championships. HoWL are simply looking to beat the shit out of Kawaii and establish their dominance.

EMav’s Pick: Usually I’d go with Kawaii, but the stipulation here favors HoWL. That seems ironic, as the stipulation was made in order to stop the other members of HoWL from getting involved, but Blackwell and Crim have the most chemistry out of any team in GFW, meaning they should be able to use the cage to their advantage. I think they’ve got this in the bag.

Winner: HoWL
Match #9: GLORY (Omar Jackson, Victor Wolfe, and Kitten Canaveral) (c) vs Masked Freaks (Professor Aescher, Richard, and Lazy Dragon) (GFW Faction Championship)

The Story: In our first of three title matches, The GFW Faction Championships are on the line as GLORY defends against, quite literally, three guys that wear masks. They’re not a faction, they’re just three guys who had nothing better to do than this match. Still, Aescher has shown a lot of promise in his short time in GFW and Lazy Dragon is one of the most charismatic wrestlers on the entire roster. Will that be enough to capture the faction championships? Probably not, but on top of that, Victor Wolfe and Omar Jackson haven’t been on the same page lately, so we could see a screwjob of some sort.

EMav’s Pick: If GLORY can function as a team tonight, they should have no problem defeating this makeshift group. However, I think the beef between Omar and Victor is far from settled, and I believe it will cost them tonight.

Winner: Masked Freaks (New Champions)
Match #10: AK-47 vs “The Product” David Starr vs Crim Rocker (FTW #1 contenders match)

The Story: This started off as a very fair match, as AK-47 never got a rematch for the FTW Title, and David Starr made it to the finals of a tournament to crown a number 1 contender, but was attacked before he could compete in the final match. Then, Nero Sin threw a hissy fit and added HoWL stablemate Crim Rocker to the match, because “he doesn’t like AK-47” Whoever wins this match will have the unenviable task of facing Bone Krusher in the future, but I’m confident all three of these men would put up a hell of a fight.

EMav’s Pick: Well, it’s hard to pick Crim, because as crafty as he is, he will just be coming off a brutal cage match against Team Kawaii. As far as the other two go, they both want it badly, but after hearing AK-47 at the press conference yesterday, I think he wants it just a little more. Buckle up, we’re about to get Krusher vs AK-47 round 2!

Winner: AK-47
Match #11: Bone Krusher vs Taryn Johnson

The Story: Oh boy, where do I even start with this one? As soon as he came into the company, Bone Krusher had it out for Taryn Johnson. He believed she should be submissive to his will, as he is the alpha male in GFW. Taryn took exception to this and challenged him to a match, where if she won, she would get his FTW title shot. If she lost, however, Krusher would be allowed to collar her and force her to do his bidding. While the match was going on, it was looking like Taryn might actually do the impossible and beat Krusher, but then the referee started inexplicably attacking Krusher, forcing the boss to call the match a DQ in Krusher’s favor. After that, Krusher went on to humiliate Taryn at every turn, even snapping her ankle at one point. Now, she’s finally got another shot at Bone Krusher, and if she wins, she’ll be free of the collar and free from Krusher

EMav’s Pick: I think the Heartbreaker is gonna get broken in half tonight. There’s no easier way to put it. Krusher is too big and strong for Taryn even at 100%. Let alone on one bad foot. I wish Taryn the best, but I don’t think she’ll be able to pull off the victory.

Winner: Bone Krusher
Match #12: KENDO (c) vs Marcus Moonchild (GFW Jr. Heavyweight Championship)

The Story: This is Moonchild’s second opportunity at the Jr Title, as he lost the first match to KENDO in what was one of the most spectacular matches in GFW history. After that, however, he mysteriously slipped into a coma and was out of action for the entire season so far, until he triumphantly returned last week and defeated Nero Sin in order to earn this title match. Meanwhile, KENDO has been the most dominant champion GFW has ever seen. He defends his title weekly against challengers in GFW and those from the wider world of wrestling. So far his list of victories include names like Flash Morgan Webster, Andrew Everett, Callum Newman, and Brad Hollister. But if KENDO wants to walk out with the title tonight, he’ll have to go through a motivated Marcus Moonchild

EMav’s Pick: This is the toughest match on the card to pick a winner for. I’m not sure how much training Marcus has been able to do, but GUD made an interesting observation last week: KENDO has gotten a bit complacent in his role as Jr. champion, and it’s quite possible that he’s not taking this match as seriously as he should be. Either way, this one’s a coin flip. I’ll go with Moonchild

Match #13: “Queen Bitch” Evil Miss (c) vs Xavier Shamrock (GFW Heavyweight Championship)

The Story: One word. War. That’s what’s been going on between Blood & Gore and HoWL as of late. Evil Miss, while she’s been absolutely dominant as champion, has had a lot of help from her friends. Xavier Shamrock might not be a white meat babyface, quite the opposite actually, but it’s been hard not to root for him in this match, as Evil has done everything in her power to stop the match from happening, from making X get through Gorefists, to orchestrating a cowardly 4 on 1 beatdown of X in the middle of the ring. But finally, here we are, the main event of the PPV with the title on the line. Who will win?

EMav’s Pick: Both wrestlers are known for their submission holds. Evil Miss won the title with her “Choking The Throttle” camel clutch and Xavier Shamrock usually wins his matches with the Xecution (guillotine choke). I think this will come down to the wire, but in the end, I think Xavier Shamrock will finally dethrone the longest reigning champ.
