A few days after the event, TSP vs. PCP: I-65 War, Jeff Gorham was greeted by Hoss Mack Sr. at the PCP Training Center.
Hoss: There he is! How you feeling after the other night? I know I’m sore as all get out. I don’t think this old body can handle much more of that.
Gorham: Well, I hurt like hell, and my hair is gone. Let’s just say I learned the hard way just how good Hanshin Tiger is.
Hoss: (chuckling as he speaks) Yeah, I gotta say your hair looks a lot better since you went home and shaved it all the way. It looked like mine after the match. I mean, not trying to kick you while you’re down, but how’d you hide that bald spot? That thing was massive.
Gorham: (Taking the ribbing in stride) Yeah, yeah, I know you’re still a little loopy from all those powerbombs. Ol’ Bill must have been going for a record or something.
Hoss: You got that right. It was a rough night for both of us.
Gorham: After some reflection, I can’t help but feel like an idiot for how I behaved the last few months. I went off the rails and did some horrible things, all from some competitive needling. I completely lost my composure, and I’m not proud of that. Now, I’m back in the losers column after winning some big matches earlier this year. Thankfully, Hanshin Tiger is a fair man, and it seems we can start rebuilding a working relationship with Tiger Stripe Pro.
Hoss: I gotta say, something I’ve noticed about you is when things start going good, you get a little too big for your britches and find a way to mess it all up. You get in your own way, but something usually brings you back to reality. This time it was Mr. Hanshin who brought you back. You know I trust you, but after the way you acted some of the boys might not feel the same. You need to make this good for them.
Gorham: You sure do have a way of boiling things down sheriff, but you’re right. I want everyone to know I won’t let any personal issues get in the way of business, so I’m offering our old rival, Cade Wageman, a spot in the Battle of Mobile Bay Tournament. Plus, Iceman Barrett, who’s been working hard representing PCP in other promotions.
Hoss: That’s a good start, but it’s going to take longer to earn back everyone’s respect. Hey, speaking of that tournament, why don’t you enter that thing. I know you’ve been training hard all year, you look like you put on some muscle. Go show everyone that you can come back better than you were.
Gorham: You were just saying I need to make it up to the boys. Wouldn’t that look bad?
Hoss: You’re still a competitor, and like you said, just separate business from personal issues, and some folks gain more respect after being in the ring with you. I know Bill Flippo earned my respect that way. After taking that beating, I’m really thinking about retiring this time. My son is doing great, I wanted to win the tag belts with him, but he’s doing just fine representing the family name on his own.
Gorham: Yeah, Hoss Jr. has big things coming is his future, and he couldn’t have asked for better guidance. Hey, since you suggested it, if I put myself in the BOMB tournament, then I’m not having accusations like last year. I had the easiest first round match on paper last year, that I still lost, but this year I’m facing the man I consider to be the baddest dude around, the PCP Heavyweight Champion, Rampage Hunter.
Hoss: There you go, I like that thinking.
Gorham: And you better not be thinking of retirement, you have a big match coming up. You and the kid against the Order of Myths for the tag team titles.
Hoss: (Shaking his head trying to hold back a smile) That sneaky gamblers at it again, you know we’re gonna be ready. ____
Later that day, Iceman Barrett received the exciting news that he’s in the Battle of Mobile Bay Tournament, and couldn’t wait to share the news with his dad.
Iceman: Hey dad, guess who’s going to be in that BOMB elimination thing?
Jimmy Barrett: Well with that goofy smile on your face, I can only think you here to tell your dear ol’ dad that it's him.
Iceman: Oh, well it’s me, that’s what they just told me on the phone.
Jimmy: You? You’re in the tournament? But if there ain’t no more spots left, and you’re in the tournament, that means I ain’t in it. That just don’t sound right, right boy?
Iceman: Well, I’ve been working hard and I thought it was paying off.
Jimmy: Working hard? Boy, you don’t how to work hard. See I’ve been working hard for over twenty years, and I even raised you some. Don’t you think I should be rewarded for my hard work.
Iceman: Yeah dad you’re right, I don’t why they didn’t put you in.
Jimmy: Well son I think the right thing to do is give me your spot in the tournament.
Iceman: What?
Jimmy: Yeah you’re gonna have plenty of chances baby doll. This might be my last chance. C’mon son, I know you don’t want me miss out on this.
Iceman: Um, yeah, you’re right dad. I can always enter next year. I’m gonna call the office and let them know.
Jimmy: There you go son, I knew you could use that brain of yours.

The Betting Line
I’m Johnny Checks, and it’s time for a FREE edition of The Betting Line. For you first time readers, here’s how it goes. The bookmakers make the odds, I analyze those odds, and give you the best advice on how to place your bets. I’ve been in this game a long time and my record speaks for itself, if you don’t believe that look into the archives, the stats back it up. Now, this time it’s free, but after you win all that cash, you can keep on winning by becoming a subscriber over at www.checksbettingline.com. It’s only $23.89 a month. What a steal!!! In this issue, I’m breaking down the lines for Port City Pro’s event, Battle of Mobile Bay 2020. It’s a tournament that takes place over a two day period, and this year’s card has some good plays. Let’s break it down. Kenny Bread vs. Darryl Jenkins Jenkins: -580 Bread: +440As predicted, Jenkins is a heavy favorite to win this match. Bread is building a career out of winning matches he shouldn’t win, but some challenges are too big. You’ll never catch me betting on a parlay, but for those who can’t help themselves, Jenkins is a must for parlay bettors. Jenkins wins easily. Prince Kitsune vs. King Felix III Kitsune: +155 Felix: -175KF3 is the rightful favorite, but Kitsune recently got a huge upset win over Tiger Newton. Kitsune, at those odds, is my underdog pick of the event. David Quinn vs. Jack Caesar Quinn: +230 Ceasar: -270I think the bookmakers got the favorite right, but this line should be closer in my opinion. I wouldn’t bet against Caesar, but Quinn might be a play at those odds. Jimmy Barrett vs. Toby Tron Barrett: +100 Tron: -120The line tells the story, Barrett has a shot at an even bet, but Tron is the younger athlete. I think Tron wins, but don’t bet the house on this one. Lee Gold Jr. vs. Hexagon Jr. Gold: -105 Hexagon: -115Another close match, and since both bets require betting more money than you win, I’m staying away from this one, should be a good match though. This could go either way. Cade Wageman vs. The Warbringer Wageman: +180 Warbringer: -220I don’t know much about this Warbringer guy, except he’s massive. I think Wageman has a chance, but I just don’t see how he wins. He’s lost too many big matches in the past, and will do so again. Warbringer wins. Freight Train McMichaelson vs. Big Bama Ray Freight Train: -110 Bama Ray: -110The pick’em match of the night. Some believe Freight Train should be a slight favorite due to having a past victory over Bama, but I disagree. That match was close and I think Bama has made the necessary adjustments this time around. I’m going Bama, but Freight Train is a good bet. Rampage Hunter vs. Gambler Gorham Rampage: -350 Gorham: +290This is another one for the parlay players. Gorham can turn it up at times, but is too inconsistent. Some are saying the cracks in Rampage’s armor are starting to show, but I don’t buy it. There’s a reason he’s the favorite to win the tournament. Rampage wins in dominant fashion. __ BOMB Finals Match-up Odds Favorite, Darryl Jenkins vs. Rampage Hunter: +200 Underdog, Kenny Bread vs. Gambler Gorham: +1300BOMB Winner Odds Favorite, Rampage Hunter: -100 Underdog, Kenny Bread: +1400
Like parlays, you won’t see me betting on these miracle scenarios, even Rampage at an even bet is still too risky. If you want to waste your money, just bet on who you think will win a 16 man tournament. Easy money...for the bookmakers. __ Tag Team MatchesThe Quinn’s vs. Chaos Crew Quinn’s: -125 Chaos: +105PCP Tag Team Championship (c) Order of Myths vs. Sheriff’s Department OOM: -115 Sheriffs: -115Never bet on tag team matches is another rule of mine, too many variables at play. If you want to risk your money, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Late as usual, but here’s the results for Battle of Mobile Bay, Night One. I’ll have night two results up later. youtu.be/-vDc9wtb1LsPCP: Battle of Mobile Bay, Night One The Quinn’s vs. Chaos CrewA rematch from the first PCP Tag Team title match. The Chaos Crew had a much better showing this time around, but remain on the losing end. A barrage of Quinn headbutts get the victory. BOMB Round OneKenny Bread vs. Darryl JenkinsA rematch of last year’s final with the same result, but Jenkins made it look easy this year. Bread was no match for this version of Jenkins. Prince Kitsune (TSP) vs. King Felix IIIAn excellent match that could have went either way. Kitsune has some big victories in PCP, but Felix is a former PCP champion and has looked refocused since losing the title. In the end, Kitsune’s confidence may have cost him, he struck a pose and Felix was able to get a rollup pin. David Quinn vs. Jack Caesar (MWWC)In the first upset of the tournament, David Quinn was in rare form and set a pace that most couldn’t match. Caesar attempted to slow things down with some big suplexes, but wasn’t able to capitalize. Quinn won with a backslide, and moves to the next round. Jimmy Barrett vs. Toby Tron (MWWC)An awesome match that exceeded expectations. Tron has yet to get a singles victory in PCP, but he brings it every time and the PCP fans respect him. Barrett wins with a Barrett Bomb. Lee Gold Jr. (TSP) vs. Hexagon Jr. (Lucha Power)Lee Gold looked great and has a bright future, but it was Hexagon’s speed and agility that got him the win in a close match. Cade Wageman vs. Warbringer (Pan-African Wrestling)Warbringer used his raw power and agility to control most of the action, but Wageman reminded everyone why he’s a top guy. He took a beating, but was able to methodically slow down the pace. It took two Closers to put the big man away, and despite losing, the PCP fans chanted “Warbringer” as he walked to the back. Freight Train McMichaelson (WDR) vs. Big Bama RayAs LankyLefty said in the chat, this was a big boy match. No technical wrestling or finesse here, just gritty gridiron action. A huge lariat from Bama gets the win, and he’s now 1-1 against Freight Train. Rampage Hunter (Warrior Pro) vs. Gambler Gorham
Maybe the biggest upset of the night, Gorham had a lot to prove after losing his hair against Hanshin Tiger, and he was ready for the task at hand. Around the 8:30 mark, Rampage hit a release german suplex from the ring to the floor and kicked into full rampage mode. Somehow, Gorham survived and was able to hit The River for a huge win. Match of the Night: Rampage Hunter vs. Gambler Gorham Rampage did what he does, and Gorham put on the performance of his career to survive and win. Digital Dave even gave it the full 100%.
Honorable Mentions: Jimmy Barret vs. Toby Tron, Prince Kitsune vs. King Felix III

Thanks to everyone who provided edits for the BOMB. I wanted some good competitive first round matches, but I didn’t think the PCP guys would sweep the field. Next year, I’ll set the brackets so a non PCP guy must be in the finals. Just wanted to say I’ve had a blast running PCP the past year. For a dude who’s always been a lurker and never really been a part of an online community, it was a huge step for me to put my stuff out there. Thankfully, this community is very supportive, and has been awesome from the start. Somehow, running this e-fed brought some much needed structure to my real life, and I’m in a better position than last year, despite the current pandemic. So, life is busier, but I plan on running PCP for as long as I have the time. Next event is June 29th. PCP: Battle of Mobile Bay, Night Two Resultsyoutu.be/1NLJArzTEp09th Place Battle RoyalNo one wanted to go home on a loss, and these guys beat the crap out of each other. Rampage and Warbringer had an extended battle on the outside that had promoters around the world seeing dollar signs. Warbringer eliminated two people and then the final four battled it out. Rampage eliminated Kitsune, immediately after that, Kenny Bread, who eliminated Freight Train earlier, threw Warbringer over the top rope to the floor. Kenny Bread stood toe to toe with the PCP Heavyweight Champion, and almost won a few times, but...Rampage gonna rampage. The champion had enough and got rid of the underdog, reasserting his dominance after a loss to Gorham. BOMB 2nd Round:Darryl Jenkins vs. King Felix IIIA huge rematch, as Felix was the one to end Jenkins legendary title reign. This match was different than the first, Jenkins busted Felix open early and continued landing bombs. Felix showed a toughness that he hadn’t displayed before, and survived while methodically attacking Jenkins legs to get the submission. Felix may have lost the title in his first defense, but since then has been undefeated in multiple promotions. Securing another victory, ending Jenkins chance at a repeat, shows the first meeting wasn’t a fluke and Felix is the real deal. David Quinn vs. Jimmy BarrettTwo legends of the Alabama Gulf Coast gave everything for over twenty minutes. A modified version of the Barrett Bomb got the victory. Hexagon Jr. (Lucha Power) vs. Cade WagemanThis was an incredible match that had an unfortunate ending. Hexagon Jr. was wowing the PCP crowd with a style they don’t often see, then Wageman hit a huge Closer that left the masked sensation unresponsive. Wageman, after having a long run of bad luck, was now back on a win streak, but showed a complete lack of sportsmanship. He gloated until Hexagon regained consciousness and was escorted to the back. Big Bama Ray vs. Gambler GorhamIt was hard hitting action from bell to bell, Gorham was able to survive some close calls and make the big man tap with a rear naked choke. Gorham avenges a loss from last October and is now 1-1 with Big Bama. BOMB 3rd Round:King Felix III vs. Jimmy BarrettIt was old guard against new guard here. Felix dominated the early action with speed, and seemed on his way to victory, but got overconfident. Barrrett eventually started reversing Felix’s attempt at his patented leglock and moves to the finals with a Barrett Bomb, ending Felix’s incredible run. Cade Wageman vs. Gambler GorhamOld rivals meet again, and Gorham put an exclamation point on the feud. Wageman lost, but reestablished himself as a threat, and Gorham moves on to the finals after three huge victories. PCP Tag Team Championship (c) Order of Myths vs. Sheriff’s DepartmentI always enjoy when tag matches end around the twenty minute mark, allows for plenty of action without dragging on. Both teams brought it with the Hoss Mack’s getting the win, becoming the first father/son duo to become PCP tag champions. Big day for the Mack family. BOMB Finals:Jimmy Barrett vs. Gambler Gorham
A match no one predicted, but here we are. Barrett defeated Jack Caesar, David Quinn, and King Felix III, while Gorham defeated Rampage Hunter, Big Bama Ray, and Cade Wageman to advance to the finals of the BOMB tournament. A sore and wore out Gorham gave his all trying to win, but Barrett walked through everything, as if he was in his prime. A Barrett Bomb makes him the winner of the Battle of Mobile Bay 2020. Gorham showed he’s a threat against anyone, but it wasn’t his night. Barrett might be an asshole for guilt tripping his son into relinquishing his tournament spot, but no one can deny he made the most out of the opportunity. He now goes onto face Rampage Hunter for the PCP Heavyweight Championship at the next event. After the match, Iceman Barrett got in the ring and gave his dad a big hug, then raised his hand, ending speculation of any tension between the two.

PCP News & Notes:- Jimmy Barrett’s 2020 Battle of Mobile Bay victory sent shock waves along the gulf coast. The local legend, who wasn't originally in the tournament, went on to win the whole thing. Can Barrett turn back the clock one more time and become PCP champion? That’s going to be a tough task against Rampage Hunter, the man who’s dominated the promotion this year. - Speaking of Rampage Hunter, his home promotion, Warrior Pro, is holding their annual G2 Tournament. Big Bama Ray was invited back to the organization after having a match of the year candidate earlier this year. Bama and Rampage looked impressive in their night one showings as the inevitable rematch approaches. - After impressive outings in the BOMB tournament, King Felix III and Gambler Gorham are the top ranked contenders for the heavyweight championship. A future collision seems likely, but these two will be joining some friends for six man tag action. - Cade Wageman convinced Tiger Newton to reform their tag team, The Fighting Tigers. They’ll get a chance to become number one contenders against the legendary Quinn family. - Alex Beats has been bullying Kenny Bread, viewing him as a weak target. Bread hasn’t been able to defend himself, due to the presence of Cordell Chaos, but has had enough and challenged Beats to a match - Nick Hetfield has recovered from his recent injury and had this to say.

Last years BOMB winner, Darryl Jenkins, failed in his attempt to win the tournament this year. Tim Thomson recently caught up with the former champ and the topic of his future came up. Here’s what Jenkins had to say.
Where does he go from here?
Any updates on his pursuit of a shoot style match?
(Note: This is open for everyone, please feel free to answer the call. The event is Monday, so I'll keep one of my guys on reserve just in case)

Since winning the Battle of Mobile Bay, Jimmy Barrett has been unusually quiet. After declining all requests for interviews, Barrett broke his silence in a video posted on the Monster Gains Gym social media.
The video opens with a top-down view. Jimmy Barrett is bench pressing what looks to be an extreme amount of weight. He finishes the last rep and sits up. The camera switches to front view and you see Iceman Barrett standing behind his father as the spotter.
Jimmy Barrett leans back. The camera switches to top-down view and fades out with Barrett bench pressing.

PCP: Rampage vs. Barrett is tonight at 7:30 CT on Twitch. www.twitch.tv/gamblerpcpPreviewPCP Heavyweight Championship (c) Rampage Hunter (Warrior Pro) vs. Jimmy BarrettBarrett gets his second chance at the PCP Championship, when many thought he would never be back in the title picture. He beat four men over two nights and now, the local legend only has to win one more to claim the top spot, but that’s much easier said than done against Rampage Hunter. Rampage has had a few hiccups recently, but quickly rebounded and is tearing it up in Warrior Pro’s G2 Tournament. Barrett better bring the kitchen sink, because when Rampage gets going he’s nearly unstoppable. Six-Man Tag Match Order of Myths vs. The Hoss Mack’s and Gambler GorhamA showcase match that could have implications for the next title contender. An impressive showing from Felix or Gorham could see them get the next shot. The Hoss Mack’s are riding high after winning the tag titles, and the OOM’s surely want to get some revenge. Should be a good one. Gorliath vs. Nick HetfieldHetfield is returning from an injury suffered by the hands of The Demon Priest. During the four month layoff, Hetfield’s tag partner Justin Loomis fell to Gorliath, a newly debuted minion of The Demon Priest. Now, Hetfield is back and he’s pissed. He wasted no time calling out the big man, and made it clear he’s going after the one who attacked him. The Quinn’s vs. The Fighting Tigers (Tiger Newton & Cade Wageman)The Fighting Tigers are back together and want the tag team championships, but they have to beat the Quinn brothers first. The rough bar brawling style of the Quinn’s is tough for any team to overcome. They’re the first PCP Tag Champs for a reason, and they recently claimed the title of Alabama’s most dominant wrestling family, after beating the Flippo family. Alex Beats vs. Kenny BreadBread wanted this match after getting bullied by Beats. Will the presence of Cordell Chaos be a factor, or will the resident underdog find a way like he’s done many times before? Pre-Show Match Robbie Roberts vs. David QuinnThese two will kick things off leading into the main show. Robbie Roberts is still chasing that first victory, and you never know what you’re getting with Quinn. This one has the potential to go off the rails.

PCP: Rampage vs. Barrett Results youtu.be/87jS4n54ok8Robbie Roberts vs. David Quinn w/ Lynn Quinn Winner @ 23:10 - David QuinnLynn Quinn made her first PCP appearance accompanying her husband. Roberts showed the toughness that’s made him a fan favorite in the promotion, but it was another night staring up at the lights. In classic fashion, David Quinn, went off the rails but was still able to get the victory. Alex Beats w/ Cordell Chaos vs. Kenny Bread w/ Masked Maniac IV Winner by DQ @ 19:25 – Alex BeatsMMIV showing up ringside gave Bread the confidence he’d been lacking. Beats tried to stall the action, but Bread was patient and well prepared. Beats did a lot of dancing, hit low blows, and showed some BJJ, that he claims to be a blue belt in, but none of that amounted to much. Bread was on his way to victory, but Beats had one more trick, throwing a steel chair into his opponent's hands. Somehow this confused the referee and Bread was disqualified. Beats steals the victory. The Quinn’s vs. The Fighting Tigers Winners @ 25:39 - The Quinn'sCade, er...Tiger Wageman, had an all new masked attire, attempting to match Tiger Newton. An excellent tag match that went back and forth. The Quinn’s once again showed why they’re THE tag team in PCP, getting the action in their corner before hitting a stunner for the win. Is this another failed attempt to reinvent himself by Wageman? Gorliath w/ The Demon Priest vs. Nick Hetfield w/ Justin Loomis Winner @ 17:46 - GorliathA brutal match with Hetfield chomping at the bit to return from injury, but he ran into a behemoth of a man. Gorliath dished out as much as he took and was able pick up the win with the Death Splash. Where does Hetfield go from here? Order of Myths vs. The Hoss Mack’s & Gambler Gorham Winners @ 24:45 – Order of MythsA showcase where everyone involved had moments to shine. Felix and Gorham met in a few short bursts, giving a preview of what their upcoming match could look like. Unfortunately, this was marred by an ending that saw Hoss Mack Sr. out cold, face down on the mat. The OOM’s take out one half of the tag team champions. PCP Heavyweight Championship (c) Rampage Hunter (Warrior Pro) vs. Jimmy Barrett w/ Iceman Barrett Winner @ 12:28 - Rampage HunterThe champion, between G2 matches, made the trip to the PCP, but didn’t waste any time getting back to the west coast. Barrett kept things close in the early going, even getting a near fall with a Barrett Bomb, but the champion changed gears and did what he does, rampage. He closed the show with the Lights Out, and Barrett’s streak comes to an end. Post-Match
Backstage, a cameraman caught the fallen challenger berating Iceman Barrett, while slapping him.
Jimmy: You ain’t worth a damn. *slap* What the hell are you even good for? *slap*
Iceman lowers his head and starts clenching his fist.
Jimmy: What you gonna do, huh? *slap* You wanna hit me? *slap* Go head an do it, boy.
Iceman releases his fist from a ball, and collects himself.
Iceman: You’re right, Dad. I’m sorry, and I’ll do what I gotta do to fix things.
Jimmy: Well sorry ain’t good enough. You owe me, you better make it right.
Iceman: Yes sir…I will. Injury Report: Hoss Mack Sr. has a concussion and a dislocated shoulder. Due to his age, he's been put on a mandatory 90-day medical suspension. Gamlber Gorham has yet to announce the status of the PCP Tag Team Titles.

A red glow suddenly appears from the darkness. The morbid Demon Priest can be seen sitting on a throne of skulls. The giant minion, Gorliath, is kneeling in a prayer position, ready to hear the words of his leader.
