I'm going to be using Fire Promotor Mode for this - running it as part game and part booking fed. The first card is somewhat of a mirror of their real life card for Double or Nothing with some gaps filled in. (I actually did this show weeks ago otherwise I would have added in other matches like Dustin Rhodes). This was my very first card in Promotor Mode so a few silly mistakes here or there were made. But as the months go on, I learnt to iron some of those out... and live with some others.
Kazarian and Scorpio vs Best Friends
A fairly even match between the 2 sides. SCU took the early advantage keeping Trent in their corner tagging in and out wearing him down. The BFs made their comeback from a strike exchange that ended with a superkick and then Chuck Taylor coming in and eventually hitting a top rope double foot stomp and getting the 3 count. Best Friends will go on to face the Tag Champions, whoever that may be, next month. SCU go back to the drawing board.

Not a bad opening match for the night.

Christopher Daniels vs Joey Ryan
Daniels in full control for 99% of the match in and outside the ring. Joey Ryan was somehow able to avoid the 3 count though time after time either by sheer luck of a rope break or a close 2.9 call. The match turned around through when Ryan reversed a top rope move into a cutter and then lay the boots into Daniels eventually hitting him with That 70's superkick for the 1,2,3. Surprising match rating at the end as it felt like a squash match.
SCU now 0 for 2 in AEW.

Pac vs Adam Page
This match decended into an all out brawl. Pac bringing a chair into the mix and Page getting a piece of a table. The Rite of Passage got a 2.9 kickout mid way in the match. They continued to brawl around the ring... couple of near falls... Pac kicked out of a second Rite of Passage again at 2.9. Which brought Page to boiling point picking up the table and cracking Pac with it over and over ignoring the refs count (I messed up oops) and getting himself disqualified! Page not happy with the referee after the match but it's Pac who gets awarded the win.

Young Bucks vs Lucha Brothers
Fast paced opening start with lots of irish whips, counters, duck and dodging... not as good as the choreographed 'end with a pose' shit that makes it look painfully rehearsed (blugh) but fun to watch. Young Bucks eventually trap Pentagon Jr in their half of the ring and take turns tagging in and out. Couple of double team moves get 2 counts. A superkick looks to have picked up the win... but it only gets a 2.9 on Fenix. The crowd have really got into the match by now cheering the near falls. Pentagon comes in and gets the win with the Fear Factor just over the 23 minute match as Fenix keeps Nick busy on the apron.

Cody comes out to the ring to tell the fans that he's not too pleased
that Kenny and Jericho got the main event spot for the vacent AEW Heavyweight Championship.
He created AEW, he's the star of Being the Elite, He's a CEO! He demands that he should be injected into the match making it a triple threat!
A voice comes over the loud speaker reminding Cody that AEW doesn't do triple threat matches... not yet anyway. But even if they did... Cody doesn't deserve that spot. Being born with a silver spoon in your mouth, Cody is spoilt. He needs reminding of his place in the wrestling world. Down in the midcards jobbing for the likes of Randy Orton.
Cody is furious... he demands to know who it is saying this to him on HIS show, in HIS ring on HIS night!
The lights go out!
Punk has the advantage for most of the opening to this match hitting the GTS at around the 6 minute mark which gets a 2 count. Cody heels it up a little raking the eyes, choking Punk in the corner and a little ground and pound. About 13 minutes in the action spills to the outside where Punk returns the disrespect by hitting Cody with his own finisher. 15...16...17... Cody BARELY makes it to his feet in time and rolls back into the ring. A moonsault from Cody gets a 2 count. GTS attempt from Punk gets reversed.. Cody lands behind him... schoolboy rollup ! 1...2....3!
A big surprise pinfall right at the end.
Punk had the match won, and if he had hit that GTS it must have been over - but Cody's submissions and ground and pound must have gradually worn Punk down to make him vunerable to a pin.
Cody will go on to challenge the winner of tonights main event next month.

AEW Heavyweight Championship Match
Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega
This was all Chris Jericho (so much that I had to check the edit wasn't OPd after the show.) Corner stomps, eye rakes, constant attempts at forcing Kenny to submit to the walls of Jericho. Kenny attempted to turn the match around a few times but never gained enough momentum to take control. Jericho would hit a series of moves, Kenny would manage a counter and hit 1 big move... but then Jericho would take control again. Kenny managed to reverse a corner grapple into a top rope tombstone piledriver which got a 2.9 count and had the fans cheering wildly. If the match had ended there that would have been an incredible story and finish to the match.

As both men groggily got to their feet, Jericho made the first move hitting the codebreaker and a Critical KO at around 10 minutes.

Rich Swan leaves Impact Wrestling
A mixed show, in a good way. We had surprise guests, hardcore matches, criticals. A couple of 100% match ratings but then a few that surprised me. Kenny Jericho looked every bit as good as Cody vs Punk and had a better ending and more close pinfalls. But I'm presuming the popularity of the wrestlers and the way Jericho just dominated let it down.
Unfortunately financially it was a failure. Income was a little over 70,000. But expenses were 2.5 Million! A lot of that was spent upgrading the training facilities, stocking some merchendise and paying for a higher end referee and CM Punk. Not something that I can continue going forwards if I don't want to be bankrupt within 4 short months. Punk's match getting a 100% rating is meaning I want to try and sign him from the free agents list next - but his wages are far too high. I also don't have enough lower card talent to job out, or for the other divisions so I should probably start there. Rich Swan could be an interesting one - would fit nicely into the Jr division and his popularity is quite high in most regions.
