PROMO TIME with Tomi ZIP!: *camera fades in on Tomi ZIP, mic in hand and smiling cheerfully. She is standing ringside at ZIP JAPAN's training facility in Yokohama. Two wrestlers can be heard sparring in the ring, but you can only see their boots*
Tomi: <Hello, fans! Tomi ZIP reporting from Yokohama, where I'm hoping to get a word with the current ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Champions Maki Yoshida and Jin Matsuda. They're working out together right now, let's see if we can interrupt them!>
*camera pans up slightly to reveal the tag champs taking turns running the ropes in the practice ring. Jin Matsuda charges Maki Yoshida with a shoulder block that doesn't even budge Yoshida. Yoshida gives Matsuda a brutal open handed slap across the face that leaves Matsuda reeling*
Yoshida: <Too weak! Disgraceful!>
Tomi: (interjecting) <Excuse me, Yoshida-san! Could I have a word with the two of you, please?>
*Yoshida turns to see Tomi. He steps through the ring ropes and sits on the apron next to where Tomi is standing. Matsuda, still clutching his reddened face, joins him*
Yoshida: (he speaks in a gruff, raspy voice) <Of course Tomi, how are you today?>
Tomi: <Very well, thank you. This is the first chance I've had to speak with you guys since your Tag Title win against Mickey Grinds and Jimmy Nails on August 18th. Congratulations on your victory!>
Yoshida: (bowing slightly and smiling) <Ha! Ha! Thank you, thank you. It's been a whirlwind of activity for us as the new champions. It's been a long road for us since I took Matsuda under my wing earlier this year. He's a strong and agile competitor and with my guidance I believe he can become one of the best the wrestling business has ever seen. (Yoshida glances sideways at Matsuda) He just needs to listen to me more often than he does.>
*Matsuda sheepishly bows but says nothing, his forelock of bleached blond hair dipping down to cover his eyes*
Yoshida: <Having the ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Titles means a lot to us, not only do we represent the promotion as champions, but it's the reason we began wrestling in the first place. Any wrestler worth his salt will tell you that winning Championships is the ultimate goal. I've been blessed with several Title reigns over the years, and I can tell you it never gets old. The feeling I had when I heard Mickey Grinds tapping the mat on August 18th is the best feeling in the world. There's nothing better than being a winner.>
Tomi: <I bet! Any comment from Matsuda-san?>
*Tomi moves the mic in front of Jin Matsuda*
Matsuda: <Yoshida-sensei is correct, of course. There is no better experience for a wrestler than having your hand raised in victory, especially in a title match. Hopefully we can continue to perform at such a high level and keep our run going as long as possible.>
Tomi: <Speaking of which, the two of you have been scheduled to wrestle in a non-title match this Friday September 15th, against the team of Asano Kaneshiro and current ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Champion Takeshi Kiriyama. What are your thoughts heading into this potentially explosive encounter?>
Yoshida: <Kiriyama is a tough customer, his victory against Donnie Doogan more than proves it, and he and his partner Kaneshiro have worked together for many years. I don't doubt this match will be a tough test for us, but I'm confident I'll have young Matsuda here whipped into shape and prepared for anything by this Friday night. We have a lot to prove, even if it is a non-title match. We want to show the fans of ZIP JAPAN that we can hold our own and win against any team out there. And the fact that Kiriyama is the Heavyweight Champion inspires both of us...we mainly compete as a tag team but both Matsuda and I have dreams of holding Kiriyama's title as our own. We want to have a strong showing against him Friday, to prove to Reiko ZIP that either of us is worthy of a Heavyweight Championship opportunity in the future.>
Tomi: (Bowing to Yoshida and Matsuda) <Well said. Thank you both for your time.>
*The Tag Team Champions both nod and resume their training in the ring as the camera pans back down to Tomi*
Tomi: (surpised as she spies something off camera) <Oh! Speaking of Title opportunities, is that Akira Shinjo over there?>
*camera pans hard right, to reveal Shinjo skipping rope with his fists taped in the corner of the gym. The camera begins moving towards him and Tomi runs back into shot as she approaches Shinjo*
Tomi: <Hello Akira-san!>
*Akira Shinjo acknowledges Tomi with a curt nod, but continues skipping, sweat streaming down his face and torso*
Tomi: <You're facing the Mad Bomber in the main event of this Friday's ZIP JAPAN show, with the winner becoming Number One contender to Takeshi Kiriyama's Heavyweight Championship!>
*Shinjo nods again but continues skipping, increasing his pace slightly*
Tomi: <And are you aware that Mad Bomber recently competed in an unsanctioned match against the Canadian monster called Doc Overdose?>
*another quick nod, skipping pace increases again*
Tomi: <That match consisted of well over 30 minutes of non-stop brutality, with Mad Bomber bleeding heavily for most of it, but he still managed to find a way to defeat Doc Overdose in the end. Mad Bomber seems to be indestructible right now. What is your plan when facing an opponent of this caliber?>
*Shinjo doesn't answer but is now skipping extremely fast, whipping the rope around two full rotations for every jump*
Tomi: (determined to get a response) <Are you afraid?>
*He stops jumping rope suddenly and stares intently into Tomi's eyes. She appears to be startled but maintains her composure and holds the mic up to Shinjo*
Shinjo: (his voice is deep and calm, and he is not winded despite his obvious exertions) <Do I look afraid to you, Tomi-san?> (he waits a moment but Tomi doesn't move, so he continues) <Mad Bomber is a dangerous man, but he always has been. There's nothing special about him winning a bloodbath against a maniac. I'm no butcher, I'm an artist. My canvas is the wrestling ring, my palette is punishment and my paints are pain. On Friday night, I'm going to kick Mad Bomber into another time zone. I'm going to beat him so badly that his children will be born bruised. Mad Bomber is the one who should be afraid of me.>
*Shinjo holds up his taped fist and points directly into the camera, speaking into the lens*
Shinjo: <And when I'm done with Mad Bomber...I'm coming for you, Kiriyama.>
*He holds the camera with his intense gaze for a split second, then pulls away and resumes his cardio workout. Camera pans back to Tomi*
Tomi: (to camera) <Well there you have it, fans. This is Tomi ZIP, signing off!>
*Tomi smiles and flashes a peace sign, and the camera fades*

9/15 Great Voyage Stream results A great opener with Mr Suplex really throwing everything he had at Jumbo's bulk, but ultimately the fat one proved too fat. Super Scorpio X vs Minoru Hoshino O via 619 - 91% This was just an OK match....both guys had some strong offense, but it seemed to me like it was just getting good when it ended suddenly with a 619 from Hoshino. Scorpio is capable of better, I hope to see him get more of his signature offense in during his next outing. Nakajima started strong and eliminated Goro Jr, before getting bridged by Mickey Grinds. Then Kenji and Grinds went to war on each other, with both guys kicking out of multiple pin attempts that I thought were gonna be it for sure. Great finish with Kenji following up a double underhook suplex with a big Johnny Spike DDT for the win. A fantastic ZIP JAPAN debut for Tsukamoto, he easily absorbed everything Katsu dished out, and then nearly killed Katsu by dropping him on his head with The Ice Pick (Burning Hammer). Not the greatest rating but Tsukamoto got instantly over as a legit heel. A frankly incredible display of Fighting Spirit from Shimura in this match. These guys backdropped the shit out of each other. Shimura made an incredible comeback down the stretch, kicked out of a Demon Driver and COMPLETELY no-sold a sleeper suplex before tossing Otsu off the top with the Iconoclasm. Great stuff. Another superb debut for two new Junior faces, this was a pretty surprising result. An evenly fought battle between the rookies and the veteran heels, with the victory coming via Hamada's finisher in the middle of the ring. Loved it. Well, Thunder Fist wanted to square off against the best striker ZIP JAPAN had to offer, and he got his wish in spades. These two stood toe to toe and battered one another with brutal strikes/combos for 17 minutes. Thunder Fist actually managed to get FOUR 2.9s in this match, but eventually the ZIP Strikebot KO'd his opponent...like he ALWAYS does. Still, a great showing from Thunder Fist, he managed to look really strong despite getting KTFO. Kaneshiro and Kiriyama X vs Jin Matsuda O and Maki Yoshida via Screw Bomb - 97% 29:54 So yeah, Jin Matsuda, the obviously smaller, weaker and less experienced member of Matsuda/Yoshida...PINNED the damn ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Champion in this non-title match! A superb finish sequence, check the video on YouTube. Matsuda's stock is definitely on the rise. Mad Bomber O vs Akira Shinjo X via Triple Powerbomb - 87% 15:49 Who can stop Mad Bomber? Certainly not Akira Shinjo, not on this night anyways. He laid some vicious kicks into Mad Bomber, but The Living Nightmare is apparently impervious to mere pain. A brutal triple powerbomb and Mad Bomber becomes the #1 contender to Takeshi Kiriyama's Heavyweight Championship... Also, on the post-show, I did another ZIP JAPAN Classic match featuring Darkness HAGE vs Justin Starr that was phenomenal. I think going forward I'm going to include more classic matchups from the ZIP JAPAN "tape library" on the official cards...gives me a good chance to make use of both the Legend edits and the old school versions of the current guys :P White Trash vs Mahatma Gandhi and Senator vs Nakajima were fun post-show matches as well :P

Thanks to all who made it to the first round of the Super Z Cup! Here's the results from the show: Shinjo and Shimura become #1 Contenders for the ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Titles. Big upset here, LLB was one of my picks to go far. The match was solid, much better than the rating indicates. Early contender for MOTN, Phobia busted out tons of crazy offense, but Marcus managed to survive the onslaught and catch Phobia in a sub. Another very surprising result. This match was hot while it lasted, but Warrior ONE went for a 'rana when he shouldn't have... Really impressive win for Kai Lo. The diving knee off the top -> Gator Roll combo was undeniably awesome. This week's ZIP Classic match up featured a solid showing from both men, but a double dose of Doogan Hammers proved too much for Raiga. A pretty evenly fought match until the last few minutes when Saint Magic went ballistic and hit an amazing sequence of moves, ending in a 619 -> Majistral. Pretty finish. Another MOTN contender here, Dias survived two Fresh Drops and won it with a spectacular dive off the top rope. Excellent back and forth action in this match with several near falls for both guys. A killer match up to close out the first round of the Super Z Cup, Tlaloc flew halfway across the ring more than once in this one. It will take something special to defeat Tlaloc. A result that surprised absolutely nobody, Mad Bomber has been absolutely unbeatable recently, and he thoroughly deserved this win...just wish Kiriyama had put up a little more of a fight lol. Now the question is: Who can possibly dethrone Mad Bomber? Thanks again to everyone whose edits contributed to this excellent event, and congrats to everyone who has moved on to round 2!

The Super Z Cup finals delivered some great results, thanks to everyone who made it....and a very big Thank You to all the edit creators who submitted their work....it was tons of fun to see them all in action. I don't have time for detailed write ups tonight, so I'll mostly let the results speak for themselves. ZIP JAPAN October 13th results: Round Two A: Super Scorpio vs Marcus Montgomery B: Saburo Hamada vs Kai Lo C: Saint Magic vs Marcos Dias D: Shuji Tsukamoto vs Tlaloc ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Championship Maki Yoshida and Jin Matsuda (C) vs Akira Shinjo and Daisuke Shimura ZIP JAPAN Classic Match from 2005 Takeshi Kiriyama vs Mr Suplex Super Z Cup semi-finals E: Winner A vs Winner B F: Winner C vs Winner D No 1 Contender for ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship 4 way Elimination Battle Royale Thunder Fist vs Wataru Nakajima vs Asano Kaneshiro vs Gorobei Jr BONUS MATCH Super Z Cup Final (winner gets ZIP JAPAN Junior Title shot vs Ichiro Katagiri at Oct 20th stream) G: Winner E vs Winner F I added that bonus match because everyone (including myself) wanted to see it. I think Tlaloc vs Kai Lo was most people's prediction for the finals. I had honestly included a handful of ZIP JAPAN edits as filler, kinda hoping that one might make it to the semi final round. To have 3 make it into the final four was a big surprise...but all the matches delivered so I'm pretty happy with the results overall. Eihter Kiriyama vs Suplex or Hamada vs Super Scorpio was probably MOTN. We got new tag champs, and the next show will include two title matches: Mad Bomber vs Thunder Fist and Saburo Hamada vs Ichiro Katagiri. Full card for October 20th will be posted some time over the weekend.

Here's the results from October 20th, Champions Collide Event, along with my thoughts on each match: First off the pre-show was a ton of fun, Lady V vs Z-Train, Human Hot Dog vs Amber Guesa, TheDenizen vs Tommy Tarantula, Tomas the Tiny Giant vs Fingers the Clown, and capped off by a stellar matchup between Senator and Geese. It usually pays to show up early for ZIP JAPAN events. :D -Tetsuo K vs White Trash White Trash doesn't jerk the curtain, he tore it down tonight. He and Tetsuo were both incredible in this, busting out multiple attempts at their deadliest high flying maneuvers and massive impact moves. White Trash kicked out of least 7 or 8 pin attempts that I thought were gonna be it FOR SURE. Tetsuo finally put Trash down with his second Boomerang Kick after more than 30 minutes of breathless action. Easily a contender for MOTN right out of the gate. -Gorobei Jr vs Kenzo Kobayashi These two had the unenviable task of following the fantastic opener, and they did an admirable job. It told a great story of the down on his luck Goro Jr, son of a legendary champ who is enduring a horrific losing streak, vs the tag team specialist clearly out of his element. Both guys gave their all, but when Gorobei hit that Olympic Slam and screamed out FINISH! the losing streak was finally broken. Has Gorobei Jr finally turned the corner in his career? Time will tell. Junior 4-way elimination -Justin Starr vs ECKO vs Shuji Tsukamoto vs Tora Katsu Battle Royals are often a cluster, but this was a highspots filled cluster with more whiffed top rope dives than you can shake a stick at. There was also a hilarious spot where two whipped guys crashed together and both bumped, and then immediately after the other two guys ran at each other and did the exact same double bump, leaving all 4 guys in a dazed heap on the canvas. Tsukamoto, forever to be known as the guy who knocked Tlaloc out of the Super Z Cup, did the heavy lifting in this match, eliminating first ECKO and then Starr...before Tora Katsu hit the Katsu Valley Driver out of nowhere for his biggest victory since the return of ZIP JAPAN. ZIP JAPAN Classic match from the archives - from 2001 -Kintaro vs Crusher Kodo 4th match, 4th 100% rating. This was probably the first time I've ever simmed a Crusher Kodo match that didn't end up a bloodbath. Still, that old man was force of nature in this one, taking everything Kintaro dished out and giving it all back. Kintaro was one of the legit toughest men to ever compete in ZIP JAPAN, but he was overwhelmed by Kodo's brutal forearm assaults. After getting dumped on his head from the ring to the floor twice, Kintaro couldn't answer when Kodo hit a big powerslam pin. A real classic out of the tape library. -Takeshi Kiriyama/Asano Kaneshiro vs Mickey Grinds/Jimmy Nails Classic heel tactics at play here. Poor Jimmy Nails got busted open quite early in this match, and then proceeded to get his ass beat. Grinds got into the match a few times, but Nails was largely isolated and bullied by his more experienced opponents. Asano powerbombed him on his head, and that was that. -Wataru Nakajima vs Kenji Sawada Nakajima can't seem to catch a victory recently despite having strong performances in almost every match. He used almost every trick in his playbook in this outing against Kenji Sawada, including his rarely seen Avalanche Waterwheel drop. Sawada came back with several powerbombs and piledrivers, but Nakajima was resolute. Nakajima blocked 2 or 3 dragon suplex attempts during the match. Finally it took Sawada hitting his rarely used top rope crossbody dive to keep Nakajima down for the three count. Then after the match, the evil mustachioed one kept up his attack and finally got to hit a dragon suplex lol. -Super Scorpio vs Yutaro Ichikawa I think the match rating here reflects the length of the match rather than its quality, as the action was solid from the opening bell. A bit of a contrast in styles, with Scorpio being a more ground based striker and Ichikawa the wild brawler/flyer. The Cannonball 630 senton is a devastating move, and when Ichikawa hits it, the match usually ends. And so it was tonight. -Demon Otsu vs Mr Suplex The "feeling out" stage of this match lasted about 5 minutes, and then these two guys just started going crazy, throwing each other everywhere. Otsu was hitting demon Drivers before the 10 minute mark and Mr Suplex did what Mr Suplex always does. Hard hitting action with both guys noticeably getting tired and starting to slow down a bit right before the end. Mr Suplex just couldn't handle the power of Otsu's snap powerslam. A sleeper potential MOTN. ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Championship - rematch! -Akira Shinjo/Daisuke Shimura (C) vs Maki Yoshida/Jin Matsuda Yoshida and Matsuda were on a mission to prove that their loss to Shinjo and Shimura was a fluke, obviously using their more refined tag team skills to good effect for much of the match. First they isolated Shinjo, then Shimura, but both guys were tough enough to absorb the punishment and fight back to their corner without an interference from their partner. I thought Shimura was going to make a save once, but he just got in the ring, did his ROCK N ROLL taunt, and then got back on the apron lol. Shinjo hit a sickening kick to the face of Matsuda and it was all over, team Fighting Spirit with a successful title defense to end the string of hot potato matches with the tag belts being passed around like a cheese tray. ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship -Mad Bomber (C) vs Thunder Fist Good lord. Mad Bomber has been an unstoppable force of nature for the past months...and Thunder Fist was the guy who survived a match with ZIP Strikebot. Something big was going to have to happen in his one, and boy did it ever. Force Straight Punch CRITICAL on Mad Bomber. Holy shit Thunder Fist is so legit. I was marking out in my chair, the chat was marking out, it was an amazing moment. Thunder Fist is the new ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Champion! After Mad Bomber got KTFO, who is going to want to face Thunder Fist now? ZIP JAPAN Junior Heavyweight Championship -Ichiro Katagiri (C) vs Saburo Hamada I was admittedly a little worried that this Junior Title match wouldn't quite deliver a main event quality match, but man was I ever wrong about that. This was another excellent story told in the ring, the brash and cocky champion, supremely confident after a string of title defenses, vs the undefeated rookie who won the Super Z Cup, a tourney formed as a direct result of the champ's foolhardy open challenge to the world. This was a wild match with lots of brawling on the floor. There was even a killer spot where they traded finishers on the arena floor. Katagiri's experience won the match for him in the end, but both guys got over huge here. Katagiri gets another big notch in his belt for retaining his title after his open challenge, and Hamada got a huge rub by sharing the ring with someone of Katagiri's caliber and more than holding his own. Another MOTN contender. BONUS "MATCH" -King ZIP vs ZIP Strikebot This was ostensibly some old dojo training footage from the early days of the Strikebot. King ZIP knew right from the get-go that creating the Strikebot was a grave error. King ZIP got a couple of close calls against the OP Robotic monster, but in the end Strikebot proved too much even for the mighty heel King ZIP. It amazes me to this day that King ZIP didn't just have him dismantled. Thanks again to those who made it to the show. The chat is always lots of fun, and it's great seeing my edits performing well and getting over. The people watching the shows make the shows what they are. Otherwise it would just be me playing with my wrasslers by myself :P We'll do it again in a couple of weeks. I'll post the card for the November 3 show in the next few days. 8-)

Also, I just found this post on a very old blog of mine, it's the story of ZIP Strikebot from way back in the day lol. This was how I originally introduced the edit to my save pack for FPR. A blast from the past for some, a hilarious glimpse into the dark ages for others :P For historical reference, at the time, TheDenizen was an active roster member in the ZIP JAPAN Junior Division, and I wrote my blog "in character" more or less. Tale of the ZIP StrikeBot I've got an important announcement that pertains to the current ZIP JAPAN Save. First let me show this prepared video....
*camera fades in on TheDenizen standing in front of a large mansion*
TheDenizen: Hello, everyone. I'm here in front of the palatial estate of King ZIP, where I have been invited by King ZIP himself on a mission of great import. Uh, I don't really know what that's supposed to mean, but that's what he said to me on the phone. Anyways, he told me to be here today with a camera crew, so here I am. Let's go see what the man has to say.
*TheDenizen walks up the long walkway and rings the doorbell. The bell tone is a digitized version of "Everybody was Kung Fu fighting"*
TheDenizen: Wow.
*The door opens to reveal King ZIP in his full ring attire*
King ZIP: Ah, Denizen-san, come in, come in! I see you brought your cameras, very good. I have something to show to the world.
TheDenizen: OK, then, let's go.
*King ZIP leads TheDenizen into his huge home, everything is sleek and white, the rooms spacious and elegant. They walk past a life sized marble statue of Karl Gotch.*
TheDenizen: *talking to the camera and ponting at the statue* Nice.
King ZIP: No, no, this way. This is not what I have to show you.
*They head through a door which leads down a winding staircase. At the bottom they find a long, dreary hallway with a dirt floor and concrete walls. Bare electrical wires hang loose and buzzing as water drips everywhere. They are walking in silence as a rat scurries along the floor*
TheDenizen: Uh, King ZIP? Sir? I'm kind of getting weirded out here, where are we going?
King ZIP: *pointing* This way, Denizen-san.
TheDenizen: Uh, OK. Hey, do you ALWAYS wear your facepaint?
King ZIP: Yes. Now shut up and follow.
*As they continue down the hall, the floors level out and become white tile. Ceramic covers the walls, and flourescent lights hum along the ceiling*
TheDenizen: Where are we?
King ZIP: We're almost to the lab.
TheDenizen: LAB?
*They come to a door and enter into a typical mad scientist laboratory. Potions and test tubes and all sorts of arcane apparatus litter the benches. King ZIP and TheDenizen sit on the lab stools*
King ZIP: About 10 years ago, Denizen-san, robotics were all the rage. Before the turn of the century, people were gaga for any kind of robot. I, too, was sucked in by this insidious fad! I know, you're saying "King ZIP, you are a genius! How could this happen?". Well it was precisely BECAUSE I was a genius that I decided to build my own robot.
I was still an active wrestler in those days, but I was so big and mean and strong that no one wanted to train or spar with me. So I built a robot that could stand and give me targets to hit. That worked very well, so I programmed him to throw a few punches as well, and eventually some kicks. He was a great training partner, and I named him ZIP StrikeBot, since that's all he did. StrikeBot always gave me a good workout but never hit too hard. Eventually, several members of the ZIP JAPAN roster began working out with StrikeBot. That's when the problems started.
Everyone wanted to prove how tough they were, so they had me constantly increase the aggression settings. In small increments at first, gradually, but steadily. Before I knew it, StrikeBot was dangerous. He didn't know his own strength and was prone to injuring people. The breaking point came when StrikeBot clipped Crusher Kodo on the point of the chin during a sparring session, knocking Kodo out cold. However, right at that moment, something malfunctioned in StrikeBot's primary power cell. His logic circuits were fried, locked in that split second moment of a glorious KO.
After that, any time I turned StrikeBot on, he'd just start punching and kicking people until they stopped moving.
TheDenizen: Jesus.
King ZIP: I shut him down years ago and locked him away down here. But now I want you to bring him out into the light again.
TheDenizen: Seriously? What for? He sounds totally dangerous.
King ZIP: *chuckling* Ah, Denizen-san, I've read your "blog", and I know all about the people in America who are liking ZIP JAPAN. This FirePro Club you are in, the other members will want this!
TheDenizen: Um, I dunno, King ZIP. I mean, lots of folks like ZIP JAPAN, but why would they like a robot that just beats people to smithereens?
King ZIP: *impatiently* I don't know, Denizen-san, you figure it out! I leave it up to you, I'm sure you will find a way to get people interested. More importantly, you will take him off my hands. Now, let me show you how to operate him. *reaches out and pulls down a dusty sheet revealing a big grey and black robot with bright red hands, knees and feet.*
TheDenizen: Hey, sir, I really don't think that's a-
King ZIP: There we go! *flips switch on ZIP StrikeBot*
*ZIP StrikeBot suddenly jumps up and goes berserk, roundhouse kicking the sound man through a wall, before punching out the lens of the camera. There is only the sound of chaos and steel meeting flesh at high velocity to accompany the static on the screen, which cuts suddenly to black*
*whew*
OK. Now that you've seen all that...I'm not going to lie to you. I barely escaped that room with my life, and I'm pretty sure that sound guy wasn't so lucky. King ZIP heroically tackled StrikeBot and held him down long enough for me to turn him off. After that, though, he didn't really leave me with much choice about taking StrikeBot with me.
Which leaves me with my current dilemma and the announcement I promised WAY back at the start of this post. I have ZIP StrikeBot, and I don't want him. King ZIP seems to think that people who liked the ZIP JAPAN edit pack will like ZIP StrikeBot, so I've included him on the current save of the ZIP Roster.
But I'm begging you. PLEASE DON'T USE ZIP STRIKEBOT.
ZIP StrikeBot is a wretched failure because he is way too successful at what he was made to do. If you put him in front of another person, he will kick and punch that person without emotions until they drop. He is viciously strong, and pretty much impervious to conventional damage. Also, as some weird byproduct of the power surge that fried his brain, StrikeBot does a strange little dance whenever he knocks someone out. It's actually quite disturbing.
ZIP StrikeBot is a brilliant, but awful mistake. He's not a normal member of the ZIP JAPAN Roster. Please don't let him loose on your edits. There's no telling what he might do to them.
Thanks. :D

Results for Nov 3, ZIP JAPAN Survival of the Fittest -Mr Suplex vs Donnie Doogan A good match but the ending was hampered by the ground logic bug introduced with patch .9011. Doogan should not be winning a match with a Fig 4 :( Junior Tag match -ECKO/Satoshi Iguchi vs White Trash/Minoru Hoshino This was great down the stretch, White Trash was in the middle of his hot babyface comeback (including Yardtard) when ECKO cut him off with a reversal and then nailed his rare top rope Tombstone finish. Devastation. -Jumbo Jinzei vs Maki Yoshida Yoshida looked like a million bucks in this match, winning it with his Blue Crush finisher was the icing on the cake. Classic Matchup from the archives (2006) -Wataru Nakajima vs Genki Raiga Another excellent matchup out of the ZIP JAPAN tape library. Tough loss for Nakajima (again, lol), but both guys left it all in the ring. -Tora Katsu vs Saburo Hamada Hamada was out to get back in the win column after his disappointing loss to Ichiro Katagiri, but Katsu wasn't about to roll over for the rookie superstar. Katsu came out of the gate ferociously in this match, and kept up a blistering pace throughout. Hamada never had a chance. 8 man elimination tag match -Asano Kaneshiro/Takeshi Kiriyama/Kenji Sawada/Kenzo Kobayashi vs Daisuke Shimura/Akira Shinjo/Mickey Grinds/Jimmy Nails Nasty night for the babyfaces in this match, the current tag champs were the first eliminated, leaving Nails/Grinds to fight it out against two tag teams. It wasn't to be and the heels won this elimination match with a clean sweep. No. 1 contender for ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Title -Gorobei Jr vs Demon Otsu Excellent matchup with loads of near falls down the stretch. Excellent to see Gorobei Jr finally stringing together some wins and getting a shot at the belt held by his father almost 12 years ago. No. 1 contender for ZIP JAPAN Junior Heavyweight Title -Tetsuo K vs Shuji Tsukamoto MOTN right here, no question. Both these Juniors are more power based than most of the other competitors in the division, and they pounded the hell out of each other. Tsukamoto absorbed a tremendous amount of damage in this one, and couldn't respond after a huge top rope DDT from Tetsuo K. Tetsuo will face Ichiro Katagiri on the next show. Non-title Match Heavyweight Champion Thunder Fist vs Jin Matsuda A result that left everyone stunned. Powerhouse champion ThunderFist was completely undone in this match by Jin Matsuda's speed and athleticism. This one wasn't even close and Matsuda has leapfrogged his way up the contender's ladder. No doubt Reiko ZIP will have some comments based on this result. Thanks again to folks who made the show...Next ZIP JAPAN event will be held on Friday, Nov 17. Card will be posted soon!

Well, it's been a while since I did one of these but here we go: ZIP JAPAN Announcement! *camera fades on in Reiko ZIP, sitting at her desk and looking chipper as usual*
Reiko: <Hello ZIP JAPAN fans! I'm here today to bring you two brief announcements regarding the card for ZIP JAPAN's Dance of Death event on November 17th. First of all, I'm happy to report that Mad Bomber has recovered from the concussion he suffered in the Heavyweight Championship match against Thunder Fist on Oct 20th, and will be in action on the card. Speaking of Thunder Fist...>
*Reiko pauses and takes a deep breath*
Reiko: <Our ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight champion was soundly defeated in a non-title match against Jin Matsuda on November 3rd. I offered this non-title match to anyone on the roster who was not already booked on Nov 3rd, and Matsuda was the only one who stepped up. Not only did he reach for that brass ring, he grabbed it firmly in both hands. Gorobei Jr also won a match that night to become the #1 contender to the Championship, but in light of Jin Matsuda's excellent performance (and the fact that he also defeated then-champion Takeshi Kiriyama in a non-title match), it is my belief that he should also be rewarded with an opportunity to wrestle for the biggest prize in ZIP JAPAN.>
*Reiko builds up to her announcement with a flourish of excitement*
Reiko: <So, it is with great pleasure I am announcing that the main event of the Nov 17th show with be an elimination 3-way dance featuring Thunder Fist vs Jin Matsuda vs Gorobei Jr. I think it is a match that will bring the best out of all three men involved and bring the fans out of their seats. I hope to see you all at the event! Thank you and good day.>
*Reiko bows and the camera fades* Exciting times.

PROMO TIME with Tomi ZIP! *camera fades in on Tomi ZIP's smiling face, she is standing in front of a ZIP JAPAN banner and holding a microphone*
Tomi: <Hello fans! As I'm sure you know, this Friday night, November 17th, the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship will be on the line in a three way elimination match that Reiko has dubbed "Dance of Death". Champion Thunder Fist will be defending his title against both Jin Matsuda and Gorobei Jr. I'm here backstage at the illustrious ZIP JAPAN television studios with all three competitors.>
*the camera pulls back to reveal Gorobei Jr and Jin Matsuda standing on Tomi's right, and Thunder Fist on her left. Gorobei Jr and Jin Matsuda are dressed in smart business casual attire, but Thunder Fist is in his ring gear and mask, wearing his Heavyweight Championship belt around his waist*
Tomi: <Thanks for being here today, guys! Let's get some comments from the challengers first...Matsuda-san, you not only defeated Thunder Fist in a non-title match, you also pinned Takeshi Kiriyama in a tag match when he was Heavyweight Champion back at the Grand Voyage event. Some might say that your title match is over due.>
*Tomi sticks the mic in front of Matsuda's face*
Jin Matsuda: <Well, I don't know about that Tomi....I've had some good results recently but mostly I'm just excited to get a shot now. Like I've said previously, there is no greater feeling for a pro wrestler than having your hand raised in victory, especially when there is gold on the line. I'm honored that Reiko felt I was worthy of the opportunity, and I hope that Friday night I can perform at a level that proves her trust in me was not misplaced.>
*Matsuda bows very formally and steps back. Tomi looks slightly deflated by his vanilla comments*
Tomi: <Uh, OK thank you. Next up, Gorobei Jr, the chosen son of legendary ZIP JAPAN Champion Gorobei. This will be your first ever Heavyweight Championship match after your step up from the Juniors Division. Your thoughts?>
*Tomi moves the mic in front of Gorobei Jr, who has a look on his face like someone just shit on his shoes*
Gorobei Jr: <Yes it is, and I have to say I'm not entirely thrilled that Matsuda is involved in it. Sure he's won non-title matches, but I actually won the sanctioned #1 Contenders match. I've been fighting my way up and down the rankings ladder for years to get this chance at the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Title. I've earned my shot with my own blood, sweat and tears, I didn't get it handed to me by Reiko.>
*Gorobei Jr glances quickly, almost imperceptibly, over at Jin Matsuda and lets a tiny sneer play across his features*
Gorobei Jr: <In any case, what's done is done and the match is booked. There's nothing left for me to do now but win it. This match is the culmination of years of toil, following in the footsteps of my father, and working to establish myself without being overcast by his immense shadow. This Friday both of my opponents had best be on their game...it's going to be the biggest and most important match of my career and I'll be out to win at all costs. I was born to carry the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship, and I won't let anything or anyone stand in my way.>
*Gorobei turns away from the camera and addresses Thunder Fist directly, pointing at him for emphasis*
Gorobei Jr: <Your days are numbered, Champ! Destiny is on my side, and this Friday your brief reign will be over!>
Tomi: *nodding to Gorobei Jr* <Strong words for our Champion. Thunder Fist, do you have a response or any thoughts about this Friday's Dance of Death?>
*Tomi holds up the mic in front of Thunder Fist's mask, but Thunder Fist just stands there breathing heavily for a moment. Just as Tomi goes to move the mic away to say something further, Thunder Fist suddenly holds up both his gloved fists*
Thunder Fist: *he holds his left fist up* Matsoodah! *he holds his right fist up* Gorobayyyy! *he smashes his fists together with a loud smacking thud that is picked up by Tomi's microphone* FISSSSSSSSSST!
*Thunder Fist turns and stomps away off camera, leaving Tomi and his challengers behind him, looking slightly stunned and bewildered*
Tomi: <Very well, there you have it fans! Friday Night! Dance of Death! I'll be there, what about you? This is Tomi ZIP, signing off!>
*Tomi smiles and flashes a peace sign, and the camera fades*

Well the Dance of Death has been danced, what an evening it was. November 17th results: Preshow had several excellent matches including Firehawk vs Senator, a clown battle (Bobbles vs Prick), Lady V vs Raven Brighid, Holy Diver/Supernaut vs Yuugai/Zangar and plenty of others. The pick of the bunch however, was this minor classic: anyway, on to the ZIP JAPAN stuff: A fun and fast paced opener that was just hitting it's stride when Iguchi nailed a nasty Top Rope Cutter for the quick win. They don't call him The Cutter King for nothing, kids. Well, well. Demon Otsu killed everyone in this match. Nails got busted open in the first minute. After 20 minutes of vicious action, Otsu started dishing out the powerbombs in a way that must've made the Mad Bomber jealous. Otsu eliminated both Shinjo and Nails, before reversing a Mad Bomber powerbomb attempt into a frankensteiner for the win. Otsu's stock is on the rise, and Mad Bomber is apparently back to being a normal mortal human being. Trash looked like a million bucks in this one, outpacing his stronger opponent the whole way, beating him to the punch at almost every turn. White Trash hit a YardTard fairly early on, and finished off Tsukamoto with a sick Canadian Destroyer. The superb Juniors action kept on rolling in this match, all four guys unleashing some devastating offense over the opening 10-15 minutes. Lots of interrupted pin attempts and odd tag team combinations forming and breaking up throughout. Eventually ECKO beat Hamada with a Tombstone and Starr beat Scoprio with an Egoist Driver seconds later, leaving the longtime rivals to square off one on one. It didn't take long for Starr to find an opportunity to go for his spectacular Sky Twister Press for the win. The sumo background of both men came into play in this one, as they slapped each other silly for a few minutes to start off. Nakajima did an amazing job of keeping his bigger opponent off his feet as much as possible, gassing out Jinzei pretty quickly. Two huge lariats later, and Nakajima FINALLY has his first on-stream win of the FPW era. I was delighted (mostly for Senator, who nearly had an aneurysm). An excellent matchup here, these two men facing each other for the first time since Doogan injured Shimura and put him on the shelf for 6 months. Shimura let it all hang out, battering Doogan with his knees and elbows in rapid flurries. Doogan simply absorbed the punishment and waited for his chance to make Shimura feel the power. Tons of near falls in this one. Then Doogan Hammer, Doogan Hammer II, over. This classic archive match was the one that really established Tora Katsu as a fan favorite in the Junior Division. He had been tooling around for a year or so without getting much traction with the fans, until he came up against the heel Darkness HAGE. Katsu was fantastic, kicking out of a disgusting looking HAGE Bomb before getting the win with the Katsu DVD, a move that became his main finisher from that point on. A helluva match here, would easily have been MOTN if not for the insanity that came after it. Two tough veteran heel tag teams beating the shit out of each other for over 40 minutes to earn a shot at Shimura/Shinjo's Title belts. Blood, headdrops, armwork, in that order. Kiriyama proves again that he is on a slightly higher level than the other competitors in the ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Division. Katagiri is unstoppable. He literally has not lost a single match since ZIP JAPAN was reborn in FPW. This match was a bruising affair, two pure strikers just standing toe to toe in the ring and kicking the crap out of each other. After Tetsuo nailed a big Fire Star Splash, Katagiri sensed a change in the flow of the match, and cut it off brutally with a reverse tombstone that ended Tetsuo's comeback in an instant. What's next for Katagiri? He's defeated just about everyone. Did this live up to the hype or what? These three guys engaged in one of the best triple threat matches I think I've ever seen in Fire Pro. They all really seemed to want it badly and were willing to do anything for a win. Too many near falls to count. More than 35 minutes of blistering action before the champion Thunder Fist was eliminated first. Jin Matsuda pinned Thunder Fist for the second time in a fortnight to guarantee ZIP JAPAN would have new Heavyweight Champion before the end of the show. The tension was thick as Matsuda and Gorobei Jr locked up, both knowing that they were potentially only 3 seconds away from the biggest prize in ZIP JAPAN. Gorobei Jr had the pedigree, but Matsuda had the stones to step up and take his chance, pinning Gorobei Jr to become the new ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Champion. Jin Matsuda. Who would've thunk it? The fans of ZIP JAPAN have a new hero. Thanks again to the peeps who showed up for the chat and stuff. It's a blast hanging out with you guys and playing Fire Pro. Let's do it again. Next ZIP JAPAN show will be in two weeks, Friday December 1 at 9 pm EST. Card TBA soon, along with some reactions to tonight's results. EDIT: Also, I've added an Event Video Archive to the second post on page one, collecting YouTube links for all the recorded shows so far. I'll fill in the missing links once I have them. Sadly, while the qualifying rounds for the Super Z Cup were recorded for posterity, the actual tournament itself was not :P

PROMO TIME with Tomi ZIP! The following was recorded immediately following the Dance of Death show.
*camera fades in on a smiling Tomi ZIP standing outside the locker room, boisterous celebrations can be heard coming from within*
Tomi: <Hello, fans! I'm backstage at Dance of Death, where Jin Matsuda has just won the main event and become the new ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Champion! Let's head inside and see if we can get a word from the new Champ!>
*Tomi pushes her way into the locker room, and the noises of celebration become louder. Several wrestlers are congratulating Matsuda, shouting and laughing. Maki Yoshida is beaming like proud father, clapping Matsuda on the back repeatedly. Akira Shinjo is fastening the title belt around Matsuda's waist, and Shimura and Nakajima are standing by wearing huge grins. They see Tomi as she approaches and increase the volume of their celebrations again. Tomi stands beside Matsuda with her microphone and the other guys eventually quiet down for the interview spot*
Tomi: <A fantastic performance tonight, Matsuda-san! Congratulations on your title victory in what some are already calling Match of the Year!>
Matsuda: (clearly excited and animated, struggling to keep his goofy smile under control) <Thank you Tomi. I knew it was biggest opportunity of my career, and I might never get another shot at the Championship if I wasted this chance. Hearing Reiko's hand hit the mat for the final three count gave me the most wonderful feeling I've ever had, and it will stay with me forever. I'm thrilled I was able to live up to the high expectations of Reiko, the fans, and of course, Yoshida-sensei.>
Yoshida: (clapping Matsuda on the back again) <I knew you had it in you, boy!> *there is a renewed burst of cheering from the other wrestlers*
Tomi: <You not only defeated Thunder Fist for the second time in two weeks, but you also pinned Gorobei Junior, a man who many thought was in prime position to fulfill his own destiny tonight. Your career has followed a similar path to Gorobei's....you both established yourselves as Junior competitors early in your careers before stepping up to the Heavyweight Division in search of the most prestigious championship ZIP JAPAN has to offer. Any thoughts on having achieved your goal ahead of Gorobei?>
Matsuda: <Well, I take nothing away from Gorobei's skills. He's an excellent wrestler and very tough opponent for anyone in ZIP JAPAN. Either one of us could easily have won tonight, and I hope he gets another chance to wrestle for the Heavyweight Title before long. He certainly deserves it. But tonight was my night, and I'm going to relish this feeling for as long as I can.>
*the wrestlers start cheering Matsuda again, and Akira Shinjo dumps two bottles of champagne over Matsuda's head. There is much shouting and laughter as Matsuda tries to wipe the liquid from his eyes. Suddenly the other wrestlers fall silent, all of them looking off camera to the right. Matsuda's laughter trails off as he clears his eyes and looks up to see Gorobei Junior step into the locker room. Gorobei has a blank expression on his face as he steps up in front of Matsuda in silence. Matsuda quickly adopts a serious look, and removes the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Title from around his waist and drapes it over his right shoulder, his eyes locked to Gorobei's the whole time. The tension is unbearable as they stare at each other for a moment, with the others looking on. Suddenly Gorobei Junior extends his hand to Matsuda. Matsuda looks at it for a split second, then grasps Gorobei's hand firmly. Gorobei bows to Matsuda*
Gorobei Jr: <Congratulations, Matsuda-san. You were the better man tonight. Wear your Title with pride.>
*the tension immediately dissipates as the other wrestlers begin cheering again, and Matsuda returns Gorobei's bow. Matsuda and Gorobei Jr embrace each other, and the camera pulls close in on Gorobei's face. His expression remains totally blank and he stares directly into the camera. As the camera fades to black, for just an instant, a look of anger and disappointment crosses Gorobei's features*

ZIP JAPAN Announcement! *camera fades in on Reiko ZIP, seated at her large desk in her office*
Reiko: <Hello ZIP JAPAN fans! I'm here today to announce the card for the ZIP JAPAN's next event, Wars of Winter, which will be held December 1, 2017 at 9pm EST.>
*a graphic appears on the screen detailing the card as Reiko reads out the matches*
Reiko: <The undercard consists of 5 matches: Satoshi Iguchi vs Minoru Hoshino, Saburo Hamada/Yutaro Ichikawa vs Tetsuo K/Shuji Tsukamoto, Wataru Nakajima vs Mr. Suplex, ECKO vs Tora Katsu and finally, Demon Otsu vs Donnie Doogan.>
Reiko: <In the archival match from the ZIP JAPAN tape library, we are proud to showcase a Juniors match from 2009 featuring Super Scorpio vs Captain Insano Jr. After that, the new ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Champion Jin Matsuda will be involved in a tag team match with his partner Maki Yoshida vs Jimmy Nails and Mickey Grinds.>
Reiko: <The first of three big main events will be another three way elimination match. Following the great success of Dance of Death, I have decided that Ichiro Katagiri will defend his ZIP JAPAN Junior Heavyweight Championship in a similar match against Justin Starr and White Trash. All three men are currently on hot streaks and I have high hopes for the action that this match can deliver.>
Reiko: <The second main event will be a match for the ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Championship. New #1 Contenders Takeshi Kiriyama and Asano Kaneshiro will get their opportunity to face the champions Akira Shinjo and Daisuke Shimura. And finally, following from the Dance of Death event, the final match will see Gorobei Jr vs Thunder Fist, to determine the #1 Contender for the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship. The winner will face Jin Matsuda in his first title defense on December 15, 2017.>
Reiko: <Best of luck to all the competitors who are booked for the Wars of Winter, and I hope to see you all at the event. Thank you for your time.>
*Reiko bows and the camera fades*

The Wars of Winter have been fought, and there are some big changes in ZIP JAPAN. ZIP JAPAN Results Dec 1, 2017: The undercard had some great matches with the double main event of Kevin Wolfe vs dalton taylor and Orange Slush vs Tlaloc both delivering some breathtaking stuff. -Satoshi Iguchi vs Minoru Hoshino Some solid back and forth action to start things off,and another decisive victory for Satoshi Iguchi. Surely he'll be stepping up into the next echelon of ZIP JAPAN Junior wrestlers in the very near future. -Saburo Hamada/Yutaro Ichikawa vs Tetsuo K/Shuji Tsukamoto In the chat before this match started I said it had real sleeper potential, and it definitely delivered. The highest rated match of the night had some of everything: high flying, brawling, technical wrestling and some power based offense courtesy of Mr Tsukamoto. Great stuff. -Wataru Nakajima vs Mr. Suplex Don't say it too loud, but the Nakajima express is going full speed ahead. After enduring a humbling winless streak, Nakajima has now won back to back matches...and he did this one in style, deflecting most of Mr Suplex's throw attempts and dominating with his own unique offense. The win with his signature backdrop hold was the icing on the cake. This was the great match we all knew Nakajima was still capable of producing. -ECKO vs Tora Katsu Tora Katsu's roll continues to pick up speed with this strong performance against one of the top Juniors in ZIP JAPAN. Katsu has locked into a solid rhythm in recent weeks and could be on the verge of forcing his way back into the Junior Title scene. -Demon Otsu vs Donnie Doogan I feel a little bad for Demon Otsu, he's been super hot recently, and he really pulled out all the stops against Doogan early on in this match. But it was not to be, Doogan resolutely absorbed the best Otsu had to offer on this night, and then showed off why he is so feared. It took 2 Doogan Hammer II's to get the job done, but in the end, the job got done. For now, Doogan remains the embodiment of the glass ceiling separating the wannabe Heavyweight contenders from the real thing. Archive match from 2009 - Super Scorpio vs Captain Insano Jr A fun little match from the archives, from a couple of years before Scorpio left ZIP JAPAN to go to Mexico for an extended run. Scorpio showed off some rare aerial ability in this one, which seemed to surprise to usually unflappable Captain Insano Jr. Insano got a few of his signature spots in, but Scorpio cut off the ring and put him away. -Jin Matsuda/Maki Yoshida vs Jimmy Nails/Mickey Grinds The ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight champion Jin Matsuda and his partner Maki Yoshida showed in this match that they both have the technical skills required to compete against a pair of the toughest grapplers North America has ever exported to Japan. Some really great wrestling in this match, and the champ walked away looking strong even though it was Yoshida who scored the pinfall for his team. 3-way elimination match for the ZIP JAPAN Junior Heavyweight Championship -Ichiro Katagiri (c) vs Justin Starr vs White Trash Well it bound to end sooner or later, and sure enough Ichiro Katagiri's unbeaten run has been stopped just short of a full calendar year. This was an excellent match, with great psychology from Katagiri early on. All three men seemed to be still strong and in it with a legit chance until around the 20 minute mark. Then Justin Starr suddenly kicked into a higher gear that the other two couldn't hope to match. Starr forced Trash to tap out and then pinned Katagiri seconds later with a top rope diving huracanrana. Justin Starr is the new ZIP JAPAN Junior Heavyweight Champion! (Senator totally predicted this result in the chat) ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Championship match -Akira Shinjo/Daisuke Shimura (c) vs Takeshi Kiriyama/Asano Kaneshiro The third tag team match of the night continued the trend of excellence, as the two top teams in ZIP JAPAN faced off for the Tag Team Championship. This match built slowly with great teamwork and fast tags from both duos...before eventually becoming a contest of headdrops. Huge Brainbusters, Steiner Screwdrivers, and Ganso bombs were delivered and duly no sold. In the end, Kiriyama did what he does best, picking his spot and locking in a deadly armbar submission. Takeshi Kiriyama and Asano Kaneshiro are the new ZIP JAPAN Tag Team Champions! No 1 Contenders match for the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship -Gorobei Jr vs Thunder Fist Gorobei Jr came right out of the gates in this match like he had something to prove to both the fans and himself. He brought the fight to Thunder Fist, putting himself in harm's way with seemingly little regard for his personal well-being. Fist never got much momentum going, and Gorobei took advantage hitting Thunder Fist with a series of Package German suplexes, the third resulting in victory. Amazingly, many fans could be heard booing as Gorobei Jr's hand was raised in victory, and after the show ended and Gorobei had retreated backstage, fans chanted FIST FIST FIST as Thunder Fist regained his composure and walked up the ramp towards the locker room. Gorobei Jr is the #1 contender to Jin Matsuda's ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship! (Senator got this one totally wrong lol) Overall an excellent night with some great results in terms of ratings, and lots of tantalizing storyline possibilities going forward from here. The next ZIP JAPAN show will be on Friday December 15th at 9pm EST. Full card and some post Wars of Winter reactions will be posted in the coming week.

PROMO TIME with Tomi ZIP! The following was recorded immediately following the Wars of Winter show.
*camera fades in on a smiling Tomi ZIP standing in front of a ZIP JAPAN banner*
Tomi: <Hello, fans! I'm backstage at Wars of Winter, where I'm scheduled to speak with the new #1 contender to the ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight Championship, Gorobei Jr. Unfortunately, he hasn't shown up. Let's see if we can go track him down!>
*the camera follows Tomi as she wanders off the promo set and towards the locker room. As she approaches the locker room door, Thunder Fist can be seen exiting wearing a bathrobe and his ring mask*
Tomi: <Ah, excuse me, Thunder Fist. By any chance did you see Gorobei Jr in the locker room just now?>
*Thunder Fist stares at the camera for a moment, then stares at Tomi, his breath echoing from behind his mask. He finally replies after a few uncomfortable seconds pass*
Thunder Fist: (with a slight shake of his huge head) Gorobei....uh, no.
*Thunder Fist slowly turns back to stare at the camera again*
Tomi: (anxiously) <Uh, OK thanks Mr Fist.>
*Tomi turns her back to Thunder Fist and begins quickly walking further down the corridor, but in the split second before the camera follows her, Thunder Fist waves enthusiastically at the camera. The cameraman does a double take on Thunder Fist before he catches up to Tomi a moment later as she's rounding a corner in the hallway.*
Tomi: <Ah, Gorobei, there you are!>
*the camera turns the corner and sees Gorobei sitting dejectedly on a bench, half hidden by some production equipment. He is slouched and wears a pained expression as though someone had just kicked him in the groin*
Tomi: <Gorobei, congratulations on becoming the #1 contender to Jin Matsuda's Heavyweight Title!>
*Tomi shoves a microphone into Gorobei's face, and he glances at it with a look of disdain. He immediately goes back to ignoring Tomi*
Tomi: (determined to get a response) <Aren't you happy with your win tonight?>
*Gorobei angrily snatches the mic away from Tomi and jumps to his feet, addressing the camera directly*
Gorobei Jr: <Of course I'm not happy! It's pretty much impossible to be happy with a knife sticking out from between your shoulder blades! Because that's what happened tonight...I was betrayed by the fans of ZIP JAPAN! I don't know how many years I've been pouring out my heart, my soul, my sweat and blood into the ZIP JAPAN ring but I've given absolutely everything to the fans. The fans have been behind me on every step of my journey, from an awkward and green young lion, to a dominant Junior competitor, through my trials as an aspiring Heavyweight and my recent time on the cusp of the Title picture. And Tonight, the night that I've finally turned the corner and cemented my place in the upper echelon of ZIP JAPAN, the fans had the audacity to boo me? To celebrate when that masked monster Thunder Fist tried to batter me into unconsciousness, and then throw garbage on me when I pulled off the impossible? UNACCEPTABLE!>
*Gorobei has worked himself into a frenzy, naked anger on his face, spittle flying from his mouth as he rages on*
Gorobei Jr: <NO MORE will I allow the fans to disrespect me and the skills I bring into the ring every damn night! NO MORE will I bow to their ridiculous expectations to live up to the legacy of my father! NO MORE will I pretend to be someone that I'm not!>
*Tomi can be seen edging into the side of the frame, trying to interrupt*
Tomi: <But Gorobei->
Gorobei Jr: <And NO MORE will I answer to the name that has hung like an albatross around my neck for my entire damn career! From now on Tomi, you can just call me GORO.>
*Tomi backs off, slightly stunned*
GORO: <All my life I've tried to give the fans what they want, and I can see what it's gotten me. From this moment forward, I'm not doing it for the fans any longer. I'm looking out for #1 and no one else. Speaking of #1, let's not forget who won his main event match tonight! I am the #1 contender. Jin Matsuda stole MY spot and stole MY championship. First order of business for GORO is to destroy that vanilla weakling and prove to the fans what I've known all along: that their precious hero is less than nothing compared to me! Matsuda-san! Your ZIP JAPAN Heavyweight title reign will be nothing but a blip in history...and years from now, if you are remembered at all, you will be simply remembered as Victim #1 of GORO. Start counting the days little one, and know that they are numbered.>
*GORO drops the mic and storms off camera, leaving a shocked Tomi alone in the shot. She shrugs uncertainly at the camera, which fades to black*
