So Forza horizon 4 has been out for a year now, all the dlc add ons are available now, and playground is still releasing fun, in-game challenges (latest one is a licenced, BBC Top Gear one, great stuff, narrated by Chris Harris and The Stig!). The taxi missions (in an Austin FX4), British racing green, the video game tribute missions, stunt missions, all are quite fun and challenging if you jack up the difficulty.
Fortune Island is cool, love the storm effects, aurora borealis, and Viking wreckage all over the place, a cool playground in general (with an amazing, long, snaking drifters paradise of a mountain trail!). The LEGO thing is cool as well, I think the hot wheels thing in FH3 was a little cooler, but this one is fun, too.
I haven’t played FH4 as much as FH3 or FH2, mostly because of a lack of time for gaming, but playground seems pretty responsive to fan feedback and is continually putting out new content in the form of challenges and new vehicles. Keep the dolly avatar dress up bullshit out of the next game though, pretty pointless distraction, the environment and the cars are (should be) the stars of the show!

I actually just picked this up a couple days ago. I haven't really gotten into one since (motorsport) 4, but I played the demo for this and really dug it and it was on sale, so I bought it.
I actually like that you get to customize your character a little bit, especially with some of the open-air cars. I remember being kind of put off by one (I think the first Horizon) where you just had this generic dudebro to play as, and even in first person you had like this stupid little bandana on your wrist, so you really couldn't ignore this sort of forced personality of this character (or at least I couldn't). They might have gone a little bit too far in this one with the unlockable outfit stuff, but I haven't been playing it very long yet, so it hasn't worn on me yet either.
I'm actually seriously impressed with the list of names the game can call you, though. I've never seen a game have that many - they even have MY shoot name (which I discovered when the game apparently read my profile and called me by it - threw me for a loop for a second), and I don't have the most common name. I do wish the characters themselves were a bit more customizable, or at least varied - not one guy with long hair, for example.
But all this is my inner wrestling-game-edit-mode-analyzer coming out. The game itself is a real blast so far - I'm a bit into autumn. I find myself struggling with offroad races a bit, probably due to all my experience being on tracks in Forza 4, but it is fun and everything I've seen so far is gorgeous. I just got to race against a hovercraft, although I kinda wish I could just drive it.
I also really, really appreciate being able to just hit "solo mode" and have the game to myself. Some people love having other players to compete with at all times, but that ain't me - I'm looking to chill out and be AWAY from people, and I hate when games have stuff that can only be "enjoyed" while being harassed by the most annoying parts of humanity.
But yeah, like it a lot so far. I foresee messing around with this game for some time to come.

The Halo feature race is short but pretty bad ass, the warthog has been in at least two games so far. The showcases are fun, the race against the flying Scotsman and the Vulcan bomber are great!
The off-road stuff is some of my favourite stuff, always loved rally, you’ll get used to it, practice with a tricked out Subaru or an old model Audi, or a Ford Focus or the RS200, or my personal fave, any LANCIA! Just hit the fields freestyle and get used to the handling, then try some drift challenges, you’ll be winning in no time (or drop the difficulty until you get the hang of things).
There are wheel spins in the game that randomly award you with money, cars, and emotes/clothes. My beef is seeing an ultra rare awesome cars that I want roll past and I end up with another plain t shirt. Don’t get me wrong, my driver looks like he was dressed by an eight year old on too much candy and I love watching him do the robot in rubber boots and a top hat as he’s awarded with first place, I just don’t like the cars taking a back seat to “brotato’s” wardrobe!
I’m offline all of the time, too, but I miss the drivatars from previous Forza games, other gamertags of random players driving cars they use, but controlled by AI. I too like to chill in this beautiful game world by myself, but I like finding AI controlled shitheads to race for in game zenny!
Glad you picked up the game, it’s a lot of fun. If you like it and you do everything there is to do, for what it’s worth from a stranger, FH3 is also an amazing game! Have fun!

We've BSed about video games enough you're not like, a totally random stranger at least lol.
I'm driving a BMW Isetta around right now (I think I won it in a wheelspin; I sure didn't buy the thing) and it is the absolute stupidest car I've ever seen. It's essentially a covered shopping cart. I love that it's in here.

I saw pictures of an open wheel roadster/rat rod thing with a bubble dome over the cockpit, too, but it’s paid dlc. The paint job and customization stuff done by community members is amazing as well! Ever wanted to drift in a limo, FH4 Will let you try! Good to know I’m not a total stranger, too (I guess I’d better sell my white windowless van in the game....) 🙂

Haha, yeah, that thing is a bucket! There are achievements around doing stuff in it I think (good luck though!). YOU TAKE THE FRONT OFF TO GET IN. Like, what the actual fuck. ... Also, I keep driving on the wrong side of the road. I've gotten better at NOT driving on the road, though - I'm kinda digging cross-country races. I've got more off-road cars now than I do stuff you'd actually want to take onto a track/street. I think because I started doing a lot of off-road races to get the hang of it, and this game gives you more of what you do the most, so now 90 percent of my racing is off-road lol. I'm starting to feel you on the clothes/emotes/horns as random loot though. I kinda wish they were in separate categories, because don't get me wrong, I actually want to unlock more clothing options, but getting a hat or something instead of a car is a bit frustrating.

Yeah, that thing is a total roller skate! Try downloading one of the player made performance packages for that thing, you think it’s hard to keep on the road as it is, try it with more than lawnmower standard horsepower!
Glad the off-road thing is scratching the itch for you now! It’s so much fun to just tear around the countryside! FH4 gives you the most freedom in the series as far as destructible shit to crash into (low stone walls, a lot of trees, stuff like that), so if you do try FH3, don’t always aim for that tree while trying to get around that dickhead in front of you!
And a cash making tip for you, get the Forza app if you’re on Xbox, if you log into horizon or Forza games through the app, you get a decent in game cash reward every week!
Also, check out the FH2 fast and furious stand alone game. It’s often free, and just introduces you to part of the FH2 map. There are quite a few races in what is effectively a demo, including a fun one versus an Antonov transport plane on narrow cobblestone streets of a rendering of southern France! It features cars from the series, so if you’re a fan, you can take most of the cars from the films for a ride!
Okay, so I’m not just being a bitch about the clothing wheel spins. I hate seeing those rare cars roll by for another pair of ridiculous sparkly pumps. 👠🎩

You know what? I don't even mind winning clothes so much. I mind winning HORNS. Winning a goddamn goofy horn instead of a car, or even a shirt I'd actually wear, can absolutely do one.
I did get a TVR Cerbera speed 12 as a barn find, and this thing is INTERESTING. It's absurdly overpowered, but learning to drive it without having it halfway lift off the ground is actually teaching me a LOT about controlling RWD cars. I finally got confident enough to run a race in it and I won pretty handily, which was fun. I'm looking forward to being able to afford really crazy shit like the Chiron and its ilk.
OH - and I've finally played online a bit, and I love how grief-resistant it is. I don't mind having other players around for, like, the first time ever. I wish RDR had legitimate options to just, like, not let other players fuck with you if you don't want.

Fans of Toyota and FH4 will be happy December 12 when Toyota returns! There was a picture of a Supra, but I’m not sure what else is coming or if the update will be free (like the Mitsubishi one was). Cool stuff!

So, I guess the picture of the Supra RZ was accurate, because that’s all that was added to the roster. At least it wasn’t a real money purchase and was only 250000 in game zenny. Hopefully more Toyota stuff comes soon, and at least the RZ is there to keep Toyota fans happy! Plus, Forza Horizon 4 now has via free update a 72 player battle royal mode called Eliminator. Looks interesting even though I’m not an online gaming fan.

I don’t know if anyone is playing FH4 anymore, but I still pop in and play from time to time, and I recently picked up a Bugatti Divo from the in game auction house. I think the Divo is my favourite car to drive in the game, it’s raw power, but with amazing handling and breaks. The Divo is a pain in the ass to get, and it rings in for just over a million in game Zenny, but the car is pure joy to drive in the game!
