Have you experienced one wrestler jumping onto the other’s neck as if to perform a frankensteiner, only the other wrestler just bends over, pinning the first wrestler? It comes across like an illogical offensive move (one I’d never put in the game), BUT is this a defensive counter to a failed frankensteiner?
If so, it still looks weird. But it makes more sense than a powerbomb where the opponent voluntarily jumps onto the wrestler’s neck.

We call this the "rana bomb." Many long timers around here despise the Rana Bomb like no tomorrow, as it tends to end matches in very anti-climactic fashion and ruin late match ranas for lucha types.
It's an auto counter to frankensteiner/huracanrana type moves.

I had this happen one time with Sting. He instead countered into a Boston crab for the win. I wish it could go into the scorpion deathlock instead.

The last two times I had Sting wrestle Ric Flair in a major match on my game, he beat Flair by countering his superplex attempt into a Power Bomb off the top rope. Kind of fitting for the thread.

It's kind of the joy of Fire Pro? That there are ways for matches to end that are different, exciting and based off of real stuff that happens (or happened) in wrestling.

My only issue is it’s visual execution. If the opposing wrestling looked like he was actively countering the rana, so it’s clear he’s powerbombing the guy. And not a deliberate rana designed to pin oneself.

So, it looks like an obvious set-up to a rana reversal? Seems like a legit rookie move.

I wouldn't mind it nearly as much if it was only restricted to Power and Giant return styles, but it doesn't work well for some of the other ones it's assigned to.

I quite like the move when a big blubbery bastard pancakes a skinny little luchador with it, but when one little luchador successfully pins another with it, it's dreadful.

For what it's worth, Carl has a mod that allows you to adjust counters per style. So, you could modify the Rana counter for specific groups to eliminate Rana bombs.

I’ve seen marches with small guys like Dean Malenko catch an opponent who leaps onto his neck, then powerbomb him. BUT in those situations it’s clearly a powerbomb, involving exertion by Malenko. In FPW the wrestler just lifelessly bends over.

The animation for that reversal seems to be a holdover from 80s lucha/NJ/AJ Jrs matches. I understand the frustrations but it's never overly bothered me.

Also, in those pro matches it doesn’t end the match, not in the cruiserweight division anyway. It’s typically done for crowd pop.
