Silver King, the younger brother of Dr. Wagner Jr., died today at the age of 51 after a heart attack mid-match against Juventud Guerrera in London.
Silver King, real name Cesar Cuauhtemoc Barron Gonzalez, debuted in 1985 and wrestled for CMLL, AAA, NJPW, AJPW and WCW during his career, winning many titles along the way. He was the third Black Tiger. In pop culture, he was best known as Ramses, the golden luchador and antagonist of Jack Black's Nacho Libre.

Harold Lederman, HBO Boxing's longtime unofficial scorekeeper and broadcast personality and Smokin Bert Cooper, perpetual challenger for the HW title in the 80s and 90s both have died from cancer.
I'll sorely miss Harold's presence on so many boxing broadcasts, he was a true personality and was unafraid to call things as he saw them.

I’ve been watching Twin Peaks to find out why I keep hearing about this fabled/infamous series for so long, and so far it has been interesting and VERY bizarre. Today I noticed that the actress that played the sultry Double R Diner owner / waitress Norma Jennings, and mother of Rashida Jones, Peggy Lipton died this weekend. It was odd to read that she was 72, you forget how long ago Twin Peaks came out.

^I never actually watched Twin Peaks but I've seen quite a few reruns of "The Mod Squad" where she was one of the 4 primary characters
Given that TMS started over two decades before Twin Peaks, I'm actually surprised that she wasn't slightly older. She must have been just 21 or 22 years old when that one started.

RIP Doris Day
"America's Sweetheart" on film during the 1950s and early 60s.
She obviously thrived well before my time but having seen several of her movies, it's not too hard to see why she was endearing to so many.
Also RIP to former KC Chiefs head coach and defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham, a man who spent 47 consecutive seasons as a football coach (16 in the NCAA and 31 in the NFL). I don't think a whole lot of people have "favorite assistant coaches" but Gunther Cunningham was my favorite Chiefs assistant. So aggressive but in an entirely calculating way.

Yeah, that's not news I thought I'd hear today
I jokingly referred to her as "Pop Punk Barbie" during her WWE career and was never really a fan of her but that's really damn young and she left a kid behind to boot.
Sad stuff.

She was ten days away from 40. That's not that old. I'm sorry to hear that.
"Pop Punk Barbie" isn't really that bad as far as nicknames go. I can think of a far worse one I heard when she was still with WWE but it's not worth repeating here, especially under the circumstances.
Her kid is 18, at least, but that's still not a good age to lose your mother.

Atsushi Aoki, AJPW's World Jr. Champion, has reportedly been killed in a bike accident. The 41-year-old began his career in NOAH in 2005, and had been with AJPW since 2013. He was set to defend his title on June 18th vs. Hikaru Sato. (Article in Japanese:) this.kiji.is/508431953117283425

Yeah. Terrible news for sure. Was the current junior champion in AJPW I believe when this happened as well. One of the most underrated junior talents in post-2000 puroresu. RIP.
