Wow, Argentina will grind to a halt for a while, that’s a big one. That guy always seemed larger than life and made an undeniable mark on the history of the game. RIP D10S

Looks like you’re right, poor pat, sounds like he had a good life though. Just listened to SCSA podcast with Paterson, it was really cool to hear about wrestling in his day. He is so respected in the industry, people still talk about how good his angles were and his finishes are stuff of legend.

RIP Hugh Keays-Byrne, aged 73
Undoubtedly a bigger name in his native Australia, he's best known internationally for playing two amazing main villains in Australia's greatest cinematic export: the Mad Max franchise. He played the sadistic Toecutter in the original Mad Max movie and returned to the franchise 36 years later as the despotic wasteland conqueror, Immortan Joe. I admittedly only saw him in those roles but man, did he make those characters "work." Those films would not be held in the regard that they are without his great performances as the main psychopath. Seriously, look at his scenes as Toecutter in Mad Max. He is so utterly vile that you can't stand the sight of him yet there's a charisma to him that makes you take note of his every word, grimace, whimsical gesture, etc. He is the biggest scene stealer in the film (unless you count the pursuit special, one of THE all-time great film vehicles). The same holds true with his performance as Immortan Joe, who is a completely different kind of madman than Toecutter. Joe is charismatic and unquestionanly brutal in his ways but he also has a level of forethought to his actions that have only been rivaled in the series by the faction heads in "Beyond Thunderdome." In a sense, Joe is an amalgamation of Toe Cutter's impulsiveness, Lord Humongous' brutality, and Master and Entity's cunning, all executed so believably Keays-Byrne that the character practically glows when he's on screen (though it might just be all of the chrome, lol).
Anyway, please excuse my digression. I'm obviously a big fan of those films and his role(s) in them will always be remembered and admired by me and fellow fans.

I probably saw Mad Max way before I should have as a kid, and yeah, between the Ford Falcons, Jim goose, and Max himself, the whole thing just felt so grimy and bad ass, but TOECUTTAH scared the shit out of young BakFu! More sad news from the entertainment world, I’ll be dusting off the original and the new one very soon for a rewatch.

RIP Pat Patterson and Hugh Keays-Byrne
I saw the original Mad Max a long time ago but honestly don't remember it that well.
I saw Mad Max: Fury Road about 2 years ago and still remember how awesome Hugh was as Immortan Joe. What an excellent character. I know Mad Max and Fist of the North Star have a lot in common. Immortan Joe reminded me of a Fist of the North Star villain. He had that "larger than life" quality.
That was a really awesome post, Marsh.

Toecutter I feel bad for..."Anything I say? What a wonderful philosophy you have."
As for Pat, this may get hate, but wasn't he involved with the ringboy scandal like that foot freak Mel?
Didn't he prey on a young Piper?
If this is true then piss on his grave.

Yep. Heard many a story about him getting ringboys back to his house. Exactly, so I will give him his due as a good booker/agent and a big influence on making 80's WWF special...but as a human, he's was perverted scum.
