Another amazing episode of House of the Dragon. King Viserys probably remains the only Targaryen I'll ever feel bad for. Aemond One-Eye and Deamon Targaryen tentatively locking horns was great, since they're pretty much mirror images of each other personality wise. A brutal decapitation with Dark Sister has made me a fan of sword, especially since we got a decent look at it in this episode. Only a matter of time before the replica's start showing up. I do hope they incorporate from the book that sometimes Aemond One-Eye takes his eye patch off and sticks a large emerald in his eye socket.
Recently watched an interesting fan essay noting that the Song of Fire and Ice books have a rather large number of one eyed characters and what they represent overall.

I have hated most of what Disney has produced under the name of "Star Wars."
Except "Andor." I am impressed with the deliberate pace, writing, location usage and how characters are being developed.
It is the antithesis of She-Hulk. In "Andor" there are strong female characters, but it's done through good writing and development.
It is my favorite show at the moment.

I can’t explain it, but I’m mesmerized by the series Midnight Diner (Netflix). A series about a hole in the wall, capacity of approximately nine patrons night time diner for salarymen, party goers, and service industry workers, that is open from midnight till seven am. The enigmatic chef / owner of the diner, referred to as “Master” by his patrons , whips up various nostalgia inducing meals that entice dialogue from his customers that form the plot of each episode. It’s so hard to identify what it is particularly that I find so interesting about this show, but I can’t stop watching. The show also reminds me of the Yakuza series, set in shinjuku with its bright signs, hostess clubs, and tight, business dense corridors. It also made me recall the Stan Hansen biography, he enjoyed opening a random door on one of the many streets in Japan, and finding a really cool, tiny little bar or diner. Looking for something different? Enjoy Japanese culture/food? Maybe give this show a try! I finally caught this show last week and was also mesmerized! I watched three episodes in a row and was transfixed. Episode 2 was a gut punch though 😥 The show has a this otherworldly feel to it that makes it so intriguing. The "regulars" are interesting but are good at fading into the background when they aren't the focus. The Master is especially interesting and I'm just waiting for some big reveal about his past while also totally accepting of it being hinted at. I really like the food that they feature too. I wanted one of those rolled omelets for days 😃 Great recommendation!! 👏 While waiting for the second half of the current Rick and Morty season, I happened upon Solar Opposites. I was not ready for how much I would like it. Probably my favorite new (to me) comedy series of the year. Also really liked Season 1 of Little Demon. It reminds me of Lucy: Daughter of the Devil mixed with Rick and Morty, South Park, and Futurama. Surprisingly good fights too. Edit: Oh also - I finally watched Loki. Wow, really enjoyed that!! I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. It's hard to be objective since I'm a big Scarlet Witch fan but I am comfortable saying that I enjoyed Loki about as much as Wandavision (which remains my favorite thing they've done in years).

Latest episode of Andor was gripping. I am not going into much detail for sake of spoilers, but the Empire was believably evil, and it was scary.
Also, I was skeptical when I heard it announced, but "Tales of the Jedi" was well done. It's a series of shorts so one could get through all 6 in one sitting.

I finished Moon Knight yesterday. I found the first few episodes to be kind of slow, almost grueling. But the last few episodes were excellent and I acknowledge how important the early pacing was to establish that build. I had actually stopped watching it for like a week but decided to go back for episode 4. Midway through, I was having regrets but the ending was a huge shock to me in a good way. Episode 5 carried that forward, being the first full episode I really liked. And the series ended really strong too and made me want a second season asap.
I'm probably going to watch "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" next. I know it's out of order but I had burned out on Marvel around the time it (and Loki) came out and so I'm just getting back to those shows. I want to watch "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" soon too as I heard the fighting is excellent.

I really liked Moon Knight, I didn’t find the start a slog at all, and usually with the Marvel series, the start seems slow to me. The action sequences are great, and the whole Egyptian mythology angle was pretty bad ass. Can’t wait for season two!
Stop what you’re doing and watch Shang Chi, the fighting is great, Akwafina is awesome as usual, and the fight at the forest gate is pretty amazing. Simu Liu and Tony Leung are great in their roles, Shang Chi is probably my favourite thing done in the MCU since Guardians of the Galaxy. One of my favourite things about the movie was that they treated traditional martial arts with RESPECT, not the usual chop socky horse shit Hollywood likes painting things it doesn’t understand and can’t be bothered to figure out! I can’t see you not liking the film unless you’re determined to hate good stories and spectacles!

Moon knight was ok for me. I feel like it ended better than most marvel shows. Falcon and winter soldier was a big let down for me. It was just not a great watch and the ending was just bad. For me Hawkeye is easily the best marvel show but it's ending was lackluster.
I watched Shang chi for the first time a couple weeks ago. I really enjoyed it until the end when it was less about actual martial arts fighting and going full marvel movie mode. Eternals is just not interesting at all the way it could have been. Thor love and thunder was fine just took the humor from Ragnarok and turned it up which wasn't the right choice but still am alright movie.
Andor is easily the best show Disney plus has made. It actually feels like it's for adults and isn't just made to get the largest audience possible. Great storytelling makes love star wars again.

I'll probably watch Andor after the full thing finishes. Rogue One and The Mandalorian are the only things Star Wars related I have enjoyed since Disney took over the IP. I never even finished season 1 of The Book of Boba Fett, although I had high hopes for it. I've lost most of my interest in Star Wars since The Last Jedi.
Also think I am done with The Witcher. Watched the first season and it was meh. With the writers now being revealed to not even liking The Witcher Books or the games and with Cavill leaving, I've lost all interest. But I will get both The Witcher Remake and Witcher 3 next gen upgrade when they come out.

I’m a Boba Fett fan, and I found that series practically irredeemable. If you didn’t make it all the way through, there are a couple of episodes that are basically Mandalorian episodes. Book of Boba Fett was a huge let down, but the Mandalorian focused one (ones?) was/were good.
Andor is pretty bad ass, it finally feels like someone is trying to flesh out how truly oppressive and tyrannical the Empire was. Imagine the whole original trilogy done in this spirit?… 😳

I really liked Moon Knight, I didn’t find the start a slog at all, and usually with the Marvel series, the start seems slow to me. The action sequences are great, and the whole Egyptian mythology angle was pretty bad ass. Can’t wait for season two! Loved the Egyptian mythology!! I thought it was cool how they had Steven be an expert in mythology and the discussion and celebration of it didn't feel dumbed down at all. The action sequences were great throughout the series as were the settings that they took place. I usually appreciate a good build so I don't know why the pacing felt weird to me but it may have just been when I was watching it at night. I genuinely enjoyed the last three episodes and couldn't have done so without the first three building to them. I can’t see you not liking the film unless you’re determined to hate good stories and spectacles! Haha, I've been kind of saving this movie until I know I can watch it all at once. I heard the fighting is supposed to be next level and your endorsement of that carries a lot of weight 😎 Definitely looking more forward to watching it now! I'm one episode away from finishing Falcon and Winter Soldier. My favorite parts are the dynamic with Sam and Bucky, Bucky grappling with his past, one surprise character I wasn't expecting, and some of the fights. But there are parts of the series I'm kind of meh on. I'm still looking forward to watching the last episode.

Finished Falcon and Winter Soldier last month. I thought it was a good series but I was kind of meh on the characterization of the villains. The series did very good things for Wilson and Bucky though.
I finished Andor a few days ago. It went a lot longer than a lot of recent Marvel/Star Wars shows went. At first I figured it would be another 6-8 episode sprint but wow, they were able to tell multiple parts of the story arc cause of the time they gave it. Overall, I enjoyed it and liked some of the episodes (like "The Eye"). I understood the appeal of the different perspective on the Empire that they had with it too. Andor made me want to watch Rogue One again. I started Obi-Won too and am enjoying it so far.
Did Syril Karn remind anyone else of Cody Rhodes? 😭
Last week's "meta" Rick & Morty was pretty damn funny 😁
And I'm up to Season 2 of Midnight Diner and continue to be blown away by the emotional roller coaster that series is. It can be so "slice of life" and chill one episode then have huge emotional depth in the next.

I finished Choujin Sentai Jetman over the weekend. I wanted to rekindle my childhood fascination with tokusatsu - Power Rangers, Beetleborgs, VR Troopers, Super Samurai Squad, etc. Originally, I wanted to see what the differences between Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and Zyuranger (MMPR), Dairanger (Partially used in MMPR), Ohranger (ZEO), and Carranger (Turbo) were. Those are the seasons I grew up watching and the ones I remembered most. I did a look-see to find out which series were most popular and Jetman ranked among the highest and landed in the #1 spot on several lists I found. The series takes place in 1991, beginning on the Earth Ship, the command center of an international defense agency called Sky Force, the guardians of peace on Earth. In the ship, scientists have developed "Birdonic Waves", a newly developed technology which gives the subject superhuman abilities. The experiments called "J-Project" were successful. Aya Odagiri, the director of the project, chose five elite Sky Force officials from Earth to use this technology. Ryu Tendo, one of the Sky Force officers, was successfully exposed to the Birdonic Waves, making him the first Jetman, the Red Hawk. The Earth Ship is suddenly attacked by the Vyram War Party, an evil outer-dimensional organization bent on inter-dimensional domination. They successfully destroy the ship and seemingly kill Ryu's lover and fellow candidate member Rie, in the chaos. The remaining Birdonic Waves that were meant for the other four officials become scattered on Earth, hitting four civilians instead - The White Swan, Yellow Owl, Blue Swallow and Black Condor, respectively. Odagiri and Ryu successfully escape and begin searching on Earth for the four remaining Jetman, training them in order to stop Vyram's plans of conquering the Earth dimension. The series includes elements of telenovela storytelling, which adds to the drama and helps flesh out the characters and plot. It makes the characters more relatable. It's something I've noticed compared to Zyuranger, where I've not seen too much character development and I'm nearly ten episodes into that at this point. The villain group also experiences internal strife, with each member coming up with various monsters to take the Jetmen down. It's cheesy and campy and if you're a fan of toku in general, then you'll probably enjoy this series well enough. Jetman also salvaged the Sentai metaseries and set the standard for the follow-up series to this day. Without Jetman, we wouldn't have gotten MMPR and the following seasons. You can find the series on YouTube and Shout Factory's websites to stream it for free. If watching on YouTube, you'll need to find the finale, which is on the Shout Factory website, otherwise it's there in full. I preferred watching on YouTube for the automatic playlist. Shout Factory website isn't the greatest for navigation, but isn't so bad if you open the episodes in individual tabs from the meta list. Images and videoes in the spoiler. Jetmen: Vyram: The opening and closing themes are great too:

Catching up on the new season of Vox Machina, I went right from that into binge watching the entire first season of Hunters which has been a pretty great show so far. I hear it's only going to be two seasons though.
