I just finished part one of season six, better call Saul. I can safely say at this point, I like the spin off more than the original (breaking bad), which says a lot for me as I hold that series in high regard. The odd thing is BCS wouldn’t exist without breaking bad, it makes me wonder if the creator had at least some rudimentary idea of all of these characters stories the entire time he put together the breaking bad story. This is some of my favourite fiction, period. They’re all so smart in their own ways, and somehow it feels like some of the usual stereotypes have been avoided. These people need a collective kick in the nads for making us wait until mid July for part two, but wow, this has been an amazing ride! 😁 I’ve been enjoying Obi Wan as well, pretty cool stuff. I was a little annoyed that the lucasfilm tradition of messing with super bad ass, cool looking bad guys has continued with Disney, but other than that, it’s been a nice surprise (expectations were low for me). I'm also annoyed having to wait for July for the second part of the season for both Stranger Things and Better Call Saul. I'm with you on feeling Better Call Saul is at least up there with Breaking Bad. In some ways I definitely Like BCS better. The thing getting in the way of me making a true comparison is how I watched both series. I binged Breaking Bad all at once over the course of one summer. With BCS, I watched the weekly releases when each season came out. So much time passed between the seasons that sometimes the story would "cool off" for me. I don't hold that against the series but it did impact the effect it had on me. Season 4 and Season 5 of Breaking Bad absolutely blew me away because of the build up I had over a short period of time. I think BCS would have had the same effect - especially from the end of the previous season to the start of this new one. One point for BCS is Nacho - he became one of my absolute favorite characters in the entire BCS/BB universe. Lalo too and he wasn't even on the show for that long. Just about finished my rewatch of the entire series House. I bought the DVD's shortly after the show ended but decided to wait a few years before I went through it again. Now I'm just about through the last season and it still holds up really well. Think I'm going to give The Orville a try. People tell me it's very good and I never paid much attention to it before, but I was wrong when I ignored Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica, so as soon as I finish House I am going to start it. I haven't seen The Orville but I have heard this recent season is the best one for it. Sadly, it's behind a paywall now. I watched the entirety of House for the first time about two years ago. I think I watched one episode a night, almost every night, from Fall of 2020 until late winter of 2021. I really enjoyed it and wanted more. Hugh Laurie is incredible and makes the hour go by so quickly. Ever see the "Night Manager" mini-series from a few years back? It was really cool.

I can’t explain it, but I’m mesmerized by the series Midnight Diner (Netflix). A series about a hole in the wall, capacity of approximately nine patrons night time diner for salarymen, party goers, and service industry workers, that is open from midnight till seven am. The enigmatic chef / owner of the diner, referred to as “Master” by his patrons , whips up various nostalgia inducing meals that entice dialogue from his customers that form the plot of each episode. It’s so hard to identify what it is particularly that I find so interesting about this show, but I can’t stop watching. The show also reminds me of the Yakuza series, set in shinjuku with its bright signs, hostess clubs, and tight, business dense corridors. It also made me recall the Stan Hansen biography, he enjoyed opening a random door on one of the many streets in Japan, and finding a really cool, tiny little bar or diner.
Looking for something different? Enjoy Japanese culture/food? Maybe give this show a try!

Yes! The music is pretty amazing as well, I forgot about it because I usually watch the show basically muted (late at night after everyone has gone to bed).

I remember seeing a preview for this series a few months ago and was intrigued but didn't start watching it for some reason. (Probably the standard Netflix "Oh I'll just watch a preview of another series and spend my entire night doing that rather than watching a full show" vibe lol). I should definitely give it a real chance though as you made it seem even better than the preview did. The second half of Better Call Saul has been fire so far 🔥

Yeah, Better Call Saul has taken an interesting turn, I guess you can take the boy out of the hustle, but can’t take the hustle out of the boy. 😁
Anyone else checking out the new WWF biography things on A&E? I just saw the Kurt Angle one, what a shit show roller coaster life that guy has had. That dude is hard as nails, I’d heard about his neck issues, but Jesus… luckily he has a neck that makes rhinos feel insecure. I had no idea about Foxcatcher Ranch, what an amazing idea, too bad the proprietor was a friggin nut job.

I liked the Undertaker bio. The Goldberg one was alright, but I was never a fan of his so I wasn't that interested. I only watch a bit of the Bella twins but realized I didn't care enough to watch the whole thing. I would have rather seen a bio on someone like Sherri Martel, Luna or Bull Nakano than the Bellas. Even someone like Lita or Trish Stratus would be better. But maybe it's because I quit watching wrestling before they were there. Haven't watched the Kurt Angle episode yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Even someone like Lita or Trish Stratus would be better. I was trying to figure out who WOULD care about those two. Classic Sesame Street, one of these things just doesn’t belong here. Look at the roster of individuals represented in this biography series, what do most of them (plus/minus Goldberg) have in common? They’re all WRESTLERS. Aren’t those talentless reprobates somehow related to Johnny Ace? That’s the only way I can rationalize their presence in that legendary company of accomplished pro wrestlers. Oh well, I just won’t watch that garbage.

I enjoyed the Bella twins bio for what it is. They grew a lot in their time in WWE. Nikki messed up her spine beginning an actual wrestler. Their reality shows is what was really big for them and WWE though and brought in a wider audience. I have respect for them and what they were able to become in WWE.

Riverdale is possibly the weirdest show on tv currently.

Yeah, Better Call Saul has taken an interesting turn, I guess you can take the boy out of the hustle, but can’t take the hustle out of the boy. 😁 Last few episodes have been utterly filled with suspense and that 🤦♂️ feeling 😬
That phone booth conversation with maybe Kim (?) was super dramatic as was the car ride over to that guy's house that Gene just broke into. I never really expected a happy ending but I can't imagine that there's a chance o that now. There's two episodes left and he just keeps digging himself a deeper hole.
I think the happiest ending that seems legitimate is just that Kim got herself into a different life.
I just don't know if Gene goes the Walter White route or ends up in prison.
Speaking of Walter, I loved the flashback with him and Jesse. I also loved the scene with Mike in Saul's office. They did a great job of showing the parallels between pre-BB Saul and current Gene.

Riverdale is possibly the weirdest show on tv currently. Yeah, you’re right. Not at all what I expected, almost had a twin peaks vibe to it. I only ever watched the first season, sounds like they’re keeping it strange.

I only ever watched the first season, sounds like they’re keeping it strange. That show just gets more and more wild. I got sidetracked towards the end of season 2 and from what I've heard about it just goes more off the rails which always has me curious to watch more

I think WW route, he’s not getting what he needs from Gene, and the phone call said a lot, he’s not getting the part of his life back that kept him on an even(ish) keel. I detect a Hail Mary blaze of glory play. He started getting hungry pre BB, sated it, and now he’s starving, even though he’s surrounded by cinnamon buns!

"Starving but surrounded by cinnamon buns" sounds like a great name for a debut album 💿 I challenge anyone to not want a cinammon bun after the episode two weeks ago too 😂 Haven't checked out last night's episode but will later today. Tentatively terrified about it 😅
