The following scans are for the "Super Fire Pro-Wrestling Special Official Guidebook" which was released by Keibunsha in 1995.
Included with each Wrestler is their "Special Tech" or hidden moves; which I'll be tabbing out for the first time ever in their entirety
along with their Fire Pro nicknames (the text that appears above each Wrestler's illustration).
The guidebook jacket. The back mentions that all 105 characters are covered along with the 600 available moves.
There's also mention of "Scenario Mode" (Championship Road) and Special's Edit mode.
Inside the dust jacket. More guidebooks advertised by Keibunsha. The left is the Japanese version of Demon's Crest. The right is for Art of Fighting 2.
The beginning of the actual book.
Table of contents.
Like most Japanese books, the book is read from right to left. Apparently, you can pull off the Doomsday Device in tag matches!
Gameplay mechanics are explained such as the grapple timing system, apron moves, diving moves, etc.
More gameplay mechanics and One Night Match mode explained.
A brief explanation of Tournament, Open League, Champion Road and Option modes.
Edit mode (which shows off one of the bonus edit templates - the Z Ranger).
Page 11 " Fire Pro Mania" showcases the Turbo File accessories. These accessories allowed players to store their save files, edits and records on to a memory
card peripheral that was sold separately.
20+ years before the Fire Pro Workshop, I would imagine the Turbo File accessory even allowed players to bring their edits over to a friend's home.
Page 12 goes over the guidebook's layout while page 13 provides a nice picture of the HWA title. The title looks like it was inspired by Inoki's 70's NWA Winged eagle title.
Of course, the main selling point for collecting these guides is the Wrestler illustrations. The first illustration is "Indomitable Flying Dragon" Fighter Yamato (Tatsumi Fujinami).
"Special Tech" are hidden moves which are performed when pressing Y + B simultaneously under specific conditions with each Wrestler.
"Performance" is a Wrestler's taunt which can be activated by pressing L + R simultaneously while standing.
To start, Fujinami's special tech is the Enzuigiri - Y + B (while standing).
"The Strongest Warrior"
Hurricane Rikimaru (Riki Choshu)
Special tech: Enzuigiri Y + B (while standing).
"Destruction Demon"
Shinya Hatamoto (Shinya Hashimoto)
Special Tech: Elbow Drop Y + B (at head of downed opponent - face up).
"Midsummer Driving Force"
Masahiro Kono (Masahiro Chono)
Special Tech: Diving DDT (Y + B during turnbuckle grapple).
How to perform a turnbuckle grapple:
0) Not every Wrestler can perform a turnbuckle grapple
1) Grapple opponent in middle of ring (the farther away from the opposite turnbuckle, the better).
2) Irish Whip Opponent into left or right turnbuckle (Left/Right + X).
3) Grapple opponent stunned in front of turnbuckle.
4) Press Up + B to raise opponent to top rope.
5) Another lockup animation will begin. Now you can perform turnbuckle grapples.
The opponent will remained stunned longer in front of the turnbuckle after taking a considerable amount of damage.
"Wind Swordsman"
Ken Budo (Keiji Mutoh) letting us know exactly how he's feeling.
Special tech: Rolling Sobat Y + B (while standing).
"Brilliant Meteor"
Hiroshi Date (Hiroshi Hase)
Special tech: Inverted S.T.F. Y + B (at feet of downed opponent - face down)
"Killing Blade Super Express"
Night Blaster (Hawk)
Special tech: Flying Clothesline Y + B (while running)
"Bombing Heavy Tank"
Killer Blaster (Power Warrior)
Special tech: Ipponzei Y + B (while opponent is running)
"Flashing Light"
Flash Barton (Scott Norton)
Special Tech: Lariat Y + B (while standing)
Notice the "J.T." on Norton's kneepads? That's the name of the Jurassic Terrors tag team. The fire pro rename of the Jurassic Powers Norton was a part of with Hercules Hernandez.
"The Legendary Tyrant Dragon"
Jurassic Hernan (Hercules Hernandez)
Special tech: Splash Y + B (at head of downed opponent - face up)
"Head of the Quake"
Samurai Jiro (Shiro Koshinaka)
Special tech: Hip Attack Y + B (while opponent is running)
"Reviving Iron Fist"
Inazuma Kengo (Kengo Kimura)
Special tech: Scorpion Deathlock (Y + B at feet of downed opponent - face up)
"Hell Monk"
Toshi Gotoh (Tatsutoshi Gotoh)
Special tech: Flying Lariat (Looks more like a Superman Punch to me) Y + B (while running).
"Mystery Of The Orient"
The Blade Kagura (The Great Kabuki)
Special tech: Stomp Y + B (at feet of downed opponent - face up).
"Hunter" (a nod to Kobayashi being referred to as the "Tiger Hunter" during his feud with the original Tiger Mask).
Toshiaki Igarashi (Kuniaki Kobayashi)
Special tech: Rolling Sobat Y + B (while standing).
